    I Blow

so what happened (yes I like pouring salt in the wound!)?
  2. WTF did Henning do at the Extreme Open?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
  3. yes filing the detent hole is a "little bit at a time" job. you don't want to bugger up your frame.
  4. the other option is to take a small needle file and enlarge the detent hole that holds the safety in the off position.
  5. sad to say I think it might've been a combo of dirty mags and the spread lips. I cleaned and dry lubed the mags on Thursday, and carefully smacked the lips back in to about .355 on average. I then put 300 rounds throught it yesterday afternoon with one stovepipe. But that was probably caused by me purposely trying to slow the slide down with my thumb in an attempt to duplicate the jams from Sunday. 3 of my mags had a crapload of dirt in the very top of them, which seemed to be binding up the floorplates. I guess I managed to clean the same 4 mags over and over again, and somehow didn't clean those 3 at the range??? all new springs in them as well. Most of the issues were nose up hitting the top of the barrel, usually a few rounds into the mag. gonna do some more testing tomorrow.
  6. could someone measure their mag lip spacing for me? I think mine are spreading a bit. .368 being the max spread in them. one is .352. I had nothing but problems with my gun at the match I co-MD'd this past Sunday. tons of failures to feed.
  7. this is actually very very common with a lot of guns. without a mag, loaded or not, inserted into the gun, there isn't anything to help "kick" the round up when the ejector hits it. try turning the gun so the ejection port is up, not to the side, and see if it still does it. This is pretty much the same thing that happens when you shoot a round without a mag in the gun, except that in that case the gun will often stovepipe or jam up on the spent round.
  8. any pics of the final design for the FO sight? And since you're working on a trigger design................ how about something for us DA Stock II shooters? (of course you'd have to get Tanfoglio to offer it as an official part, like the plan with the grips is). grips!!!!!!!! when oh when are they coming?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? you doing the MGM Ironman this year? if so a bud of mine is going down for it you need to kick him in the nuts for me. (just cuz)
  9. you crimp .223? I thought it didn't need that? so you would be able to use the powder check.
  10. DOH! where did you get those???????????????????
  11. if you are going to take the time to chamber check each case in your barrel, then why not just resize them all? much faster, and less of a waste of time.
  12. yeah it does look hot! man I wish those extended mag buttons were available for PD. Shirt order coming your way. and does no one make hex head screws for the grips on Tanfoglios?
  13. curious about the frame. where the safety goes doesn't look like mine. or maybe it's just the angle, but it doesn't really look like there are detent spots for the safety to engage.
  14. I have a notch in my aluminum plate as well, but not the bench top.
  15. on older 1050's you have to mount them right on the corner of your bench if you flush mount them to the front, otherwise your handle will hit the bench on the downstroke. a number of people I know had to notch their benches as the 1050 is not on the right side corner. I just made a half inch aluminum plate and mounted the press to it, then attached the plate to the bench, slightly forward of flush. Doing it again I'd use a 3/4 inch plate as I think it would allow for flush mounting.
  16. hah, funny, I hate hockey, but have reams of hockey tape.
  17. ok 130 odd views and not one comment? not even a "you suck"?
  18. so blatantly stealing the idea from the gentleman who posted his ideas on Youtube, I present my Custom Primer Tube Filler. I used an old Lee Auto Prime Tool primer tray for small primers. Some hi tech thin pieces of cardboard from a roll pin punch package, a thin piece of plastic custom from the same package, and some really hi tech hockey tape. first off the Custom piece of plastic cut to preven the primers from flipping sideways when they leave the main tray area. It's important to use a piece of clear plastic so that you can see what's going on. the odd primer still does try to go sideways (they are crafty little buggers) Next are three shots of the custom cut pieces of carboard. You'll notice I inserted 4 pieces into the back of the support area of the tray, folded another one around the front, and then folded another one to go down the front and around the other piece I folded. I then taped it all down with hockey tape. Finally the tube is inserted with the yellow pick up end removed. I prefill about 10 tubes, putting the yellow end back on after they are full. So how does it work to get the primers down the tube? well I haven't been able to scavenge an old sex toy from the GF as of yet, so I use either of tumblers to act as the vibe. Simply load the tray up, flip all the primers over, lock the top cover on, insert tube, and place the bottom end of the tube against a running tumbler. you have to play with the angles a bit, and rotate the tray around the tube a bit too. But once you get the hang of it you can fill a tube in about 10 seconds. much quicker than manually that's for sure.
  19. actually with a spacer that tool would work fine with Tanfoglio front sights, as they come off through the front of the slide, instead of side to side. you'd just need a piece of metal to put across the opening of the slide where the barrel would go. or perhaps do it with the barrel in the slide?
  20. I can get all the mink oil I want, and I use the Dillon spray, but I am looking for some One Shot up here to try.
  21. the guy with that Lee setup is a genius. I've got a few ideas on how to fix mine up now (the girlfriend shouldn't notice one toy being butchered for science!) edited to add, OK, I used some thin cardboard to make the spacer in the back of the Lee primer tool. folded another piece around the primer tool to cover the tube when in place, and then put another piece of cardboard between that wrap and the tube (so 3 pieces of cardboard in the back and one in the front. Hockey taped it together and put a piece of thin clear plastic over the exposed area of the primer path (cut to fit). filled the tray with primers, inserted tube, and placed against my tumbler (both the Dillon and the Midway worked equally well), 100 primers in about 20 seconds of vibrating. Rotate the tray a bit and hold on an angle, and away it goes. half the time and effort (at least) of loading by hand. Using the clear plastic over the pathway you can watch to make sure each primer drops in the right way too. I'll try and take pics tomorrow. I tried using the vibrations from the tumblers to flip the primers in the tray, but it's too much. If I can salvage something from the old "toy" box, I might be able to get a speed controlled vibe mounted to the bottom of the tray to do everything. we shall see!
  22. the swage rod will just crush the pocket a little bit, probably making the problem worse. I've got a bucket of NT 45 Brass that I've seperated from the good stuff. I plan on loading it, my ammo sponsor does that, but I'm not sure of the load he uses with small primers.
  23. pfft, that'll buff right out. should order a casefeeder while it's out. Frank K from Alberta had a few nice Dillons, after his fire they looked like crap. Dillon rebuilt them while he was down south for a match, and apparently they are like new now.
  24. good stuff man. sometimes the wait can be silly, and it's usually not on the US side, it's the losers in CanPost.
