Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I have an Elite Match on which I would like to change the front site. I tried to remove the stock site by removing the set screw and using a hammer and drift without success. I asked about local gun smiths on a local gun owners forum. They suggested that I do it myself with a front sight pusher like this one: Does anyone know if this will work with this gun? I would like to hear your suggestions and recommendations.
  2. Yeah, I know I need to look into this sometime soon. It seems like the way to go if you are serious about shooting. I am at the point where I gotta remember to take the safety off before pulling the trigger! But you are right, the prices are going up like mad. I've noticed it in the short time I've been shooting. Walmart upped the cost of 100 rounds of Federal 9mm by about $4 in just over a month in my neck of the woods. That's why I am certain that if EAA made a nice target .22LR in the Witness Elite line that has a street price of about $450, it would sell very well. He said 9mm was cheap. ROFL I like this guy, he's funny. Seriously, Welcome to the forum I shoot a match in 40. Welcome to the Tanfoglio club!! No, I was just making a comment on the state of ammo prices in general. Prices have skyrocketed on all ammo in the last few years. Maybe 2.5-3 years ago I was buying blazer 9mm ammo for $3.86 per 50. You are right that 9mm is RELATIVELY cheap, but no ammo seems cheap these days. If you want to reduce your ammo cost start reloading. Actually you won't reduce your cost, you'll just end up shooting more for the same amount. At any rate, have fun and stay safe. Jason
  3. Well, generic 9mm Federal plinking stuff seems to run around 20 cents each, .40 s&w runs around 30 cents each, and 45 seems to be about 35 cents. This based on prices I got from Cheaper Than Dirt and the local Walmart. So I guess I mean relatively cheap for centerfire rounds. Are you able to find better prices for calibers larger than 9mm? Also, I looking to pick up a .22 for this very reason. He said 9mm was cheap. ROFL I like this guy, he's funny. Seriously, Welcome to the forum I shoot a match in 40. Welcome to the Tanfoglio club!!
  4. My name is Bryan. I am from Rhode Island. I joined this list because I just purchased a new Witness Match in 9mm. I was looking for a really good target pistol that was reasonable in price and cheap to shoot. I am a new shooter. I've been out to the range about 3 times and fired maybe a 1000 rounds on various firearms. I currently own a Beretta PX4 Storm in 9mm. This is a really nice weapon that is comfortable to shoot. Then I shot a friends 92fs. I realized that a larger, heavier, long barrel gun in a much better choice for me for target practice. I also learned something about the different types of trigger mechanisms and how that effects my ability to target shoot to the best of my ability. (I learned that good triggers break like glass! ) A local dealer had a couple of Target models in stock, a 9mm and a 45. He highly recommended this weapon. I had not heard of this company before, so I was doubtful. Then I started looking on the web, including this site. The enthusiasm was universally high everywhere. The only negatives I heard of were complaints about frames cracking on some early 10mm models. The complaints appeared isolated, so I was not concerned. I decided on the 9mm because the ammo is so cheap. I've also fired 45s, which I like, 40s&w which I didn't like as much as the 9mm, and .22. Anyway, I am glad I found out about this site. I am looking forward to participating. P.S. I really wish this was available as a .22LR. (The conversion kit seems a bit iffy from what I've read here.) I think it would compete very well with similarly priced target .22s, i.e. Browning and Rugers offering. Given the rising cost of ammo, I think it would do well.
