  1. then you must've had powder bridging inside the drop tupe. perhaps it was just building up on some debri in the tube, and then when it reached critical mass, it would break free and drop into your case. if that's what happened you probably would've never noticed low powder in your other cases. but I find it hard to fathom that something like that could happen. the other possibility, and more likely in my opinion, is that you had clumping of some form with the powder, which means you would've had some loads with very low powder charges. if the shell plate was indexing, then it would physically impossible for the measure to throw two charges into a case.
  2. did you check to see if the case's you noticed the extra powder in actually had extra powder? I've had more than a few cases with bits of paper in them (even after tumbling) that would made it look like there was extra powder when in fact it was just crap under the powder. if you actually had double charges, and your shell plate was indexing properly, then you have some squibs or low powder rounds that made it through your reloading.
  3. no it's not easier. in fact US State Department and the ATF make it very very difficult for foreigners to ship ammo and guns to the USA. Further while you may think your local factories produce quality ammo, how is someone from Europe or Asia or the like, going to know? it's going to be the same game of chance for them as it will be for people in Bali. While I would love to see the next WS in the USA, it will not solve any of the problems related to shipping ammo at all. The Department of Homeland Security also makes traveling into the US with firearms a bit of nightmare, especially when coming from ex com-bloc countries or countries in parts of Asia and the Middle east. WSs held in Europe would probably be the easiest for everyone to get to, somewhere like Czech, or France or even say Norway or something like that.
  4. so I'm hosting a course this September and will using my Stock II on it. The instructor is used to working with mostly LEOs or people using concealed carry, and a lot of his tests are based on those kinds of situations. I've received permission to use my Guga holster on the course, and Guga mag pouches (with the warning that I'll be the butt of many jokes), but I would like to get something more suitable for this kind of shooting for my Stock II. Problem is, I have no idea what holsters will fit it!!!! anyone have any ideas?
  5. you guys have a Keg down there? cool. Happy Bday dude. you don't look a day over, um, 40. love the bathroom. some ideas there I want to steal when I redo ours, so couple of questions for you; is that all you're doing for the shower surround? aren't you worried about the floor getting soaked? or is there a drain in the floor? secondly, is the toilet angled from the corner? it looks like it in the pic.
  6. again, since it's been brought up a few times again. it doesn't matter where the match is held, ammo is going to be an issue. it's that simple. most of the competitors are not local, therefore they must bring ammo.
  7. oooh I like the new drop tubes, look much handier for when switching over to a different bullet. email sent
  8. neither actually, the bullets normally seat just fine, but when the number in the tube drop a few too many, there isn't as much pressure on the bullet being seated and as a result it doesn't get pushed into the case far enough to lock it in. I've experimented all sorts of different ways with that.
  9. yes I realize the difference in size, stability of governments, situations etc. But I've heard far too many people say, "there have too many people killed in Bali", as a reason for not attending this match. When in fact there haven't been. Indonesia has done a pretty damn good job at keeping Bali safe. Yes Americans could be targetted at this match, but I would hope that the security people there realize this and have made preperations based on that knowledge. it's quite possible the next WS is going to be in another country that might not be the perfect place for North Americans either. We don't represent the majority voting block so it's important that quality venues in relatively safe countries step up and offer to run the next WS. There's no point in Canada doing it as you'd all be stuck with 10 round mags in your guns.
  10. any chance a person could send back an old collator and get a new one? or failing that, how much for a new one? the chamfering I did to mine isn't quite as radical, I guess I could just do that myself? a taller drop tube for 9mm would also be cool, just to get a bit more weight on top of the bullet being seated. every now and then I get a bullet falling out of the case when the shell plate indexes, although that could be as much to do with getting ahead of the feeder due to the collator plate.
  11. good to hear from Rob on this. As for the ammo issue that so many have brought up. this is going to be an issue no matter where you hold the match. It is simply not easy to fly with the rounds required for a match of this size. If the WS is held at USSA in 2011 it will only benefit American shooters and some Canadians (those close to the border or who decide to the match), for everyone else it will still be a nightmare getting ammo to the match. since the vast majority of us reload, quality factory ammo is a moot point, no matter where the match is held. and while I don't shoot .38 Super or rounds similar, just how easy is it to get factory ammo that is going to work in everyone's Open gun? The simple fact is, there are more shooters in other countries combined, than there is in the USA, there are more regions, and it's their votes that decide where the match is held, although for Bali, there was no competition, no one else offered to host it. Security, well if you're going to compare terrorist attacks and the number dead, I'm sorry, but the US is more dangerous according to those numbers. England even more so, hell even Japan has more dead from terrorist attacks than Bali. I'm defintely not criticizing peoples choices on this, I almost didn't go for the same reasons. And yes we know that in particular Americans are not too loved in some countries such as Indonesia, but honestly I don't see it being that much of an issue, and I hope my feelings on that are still the same when I get back. Gun storage, well being from Canada where I can't keep a gun loaded for my own defense, I'm not too worried about it, status quo for me, but I can totally understand the US view on this one. Cost, well this one doesn't make sense to me at all. Again if the match is in the US it will only benefit the US and maybe Canada (again). For everyone else it's going to be a hugely expensive trip, especially when you consider the exchange rate, it'll probably cost people even more than this match is going to cost Americans, unless the USD nosedives big time in 2011. just my thoughts.
  12. pics of the updated parts would be great. I still have feed problems with 9mm 147gr JHPs in my KISS. they don't fall into the slots all that great, even though I've tapered the edges of the slots (and that did make a huge improvement), but I get upside down ones fairly regularly even after playing with the nose guide.
  13. any pics of the soon to be sights????????????
  14. oh good lord, have any of you actually set off a primer outside of case? it goes, "Pop". that's it. depriming an upside primer is about as dangerous as breathing. Primers going off in a press and setting off an entire tube are a totally different beast and are not related at all to what you are asking. Of course wear safety glasses, as worst case, a small piece of the anvil "could" bounce off of your bench and into your eye, if it went off, which it won't. if you've never seen or heard a primer go off, with no resistance from being in a case properly, put one in a coffee can, throw some lighter fluid in, toss in a lit match and listen. it's really not that big of a deal. Now 10,000 primers in a coffee can covered in gas, that's a little more exciting.
  15. well now that you're a farmer I'll have to get you up here helping out with the mink and sheep!
  16. all I can say is "wow". that probably the most honorable thing I've seen at an IPSC match. sort of like this
  17. grips on order!!!!!!!! yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. yes! now as soon as you have grips for the Stock II you'll have a my order!
  19. I find the buttons on my chrono to be a bit touchy. sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. the SP button especially. but, when it do get it to respond to my pushing it, I can understand the voice. Reading out velocities is actually not bad at all. could be quicker I guess, but for the most part it works pretty good.
  20. great video thanks. the priming system on mine has always been great. but if the little beetles (that's what RCBS calls the things that move the strips), get broken legs, it falls apart. But at the same time I think there are supposed to be a couple of them that are removed, if memory serves me correctly.
  21. so I've noticed the last few practices that the pin that my rear sight pivots on, is loose, and is now walking out. Why? and even then I push it back it, it keeps on trucking out. from right to left everytime. I haven't had it fall out, but that's just a matter of time. so how do I get this thing to stay in????????????? and are our new FO sights ready yet? what about grips for the SII!!??????????????????
  22. will this gun fit regular holsters for the M&P that are cut out at the bottom? like the Safariland ALS or the Blackhawk Serpa?
  23. nice pics thanks!!!!!! any chance you could post some video of it working?
  24. sigh, I've been hit on this too. I now make it a point to not leave a stage until I've reloaded all my mags (and cleaned them now too as the Tan is a finicky little beast). Nothing worse then getting all rushed at the next stage and forgetting to top up mags. Now all mags get emptied, cleaned and reloaded.
