  1. What it's WORTH ! I have loaded 2000 - .223 Horn sp cant boat tail 55gr FMJ over 25gr CFE. Stag Arms 3G and a MR-1, meters great and good groups. When loading give it time to all fall in the case. Have FUN, be SAFE. Perry
  2. Visit a dealer that sell plastic, buy a scrap or about a square foot of lexan then build a lil shield between you and the press. Glass eyes look good, but sight is poor ! Mountain saying, "Don't do dumb SHIT" Perry
  3. Don't Ye See ! Opinions are like ears and rears, everyone has one or two. Save a lil more money and get a hi-cap Para, STI, maybe a good used one. Lipstick on a pig don't make it a race horse! LOL Perry
  4. Unless you got someone shoplifting em thar prices ain't worth a dammnnn in E Tenn. We got more than our share of greedy MF's if one has two Quarters to rub together these greedy gun dealers want both em. We also have the best goverment MONEY will BUY. Perry
  5. "OLD RULE OF THUMB" Lite weight bullets = Fast burning powder. Heavy weight bullets = Slower burning powder. NOT a FIT/FIX ALL! Buy a chrono along with the 650, do your own load development. Powder is about the cheapest thing you will buy for reloading, any left over can load practice ammo. 1 lb = 7000 grains = 1300 to 1400 rounds of pistol ammo. In 50 years no savings to buy a BMW, maybe a MULE. Be SAFE, Perry
  6. In a month or so you may love anything you can find, that chambers.
  7. .40 Load, I shoot 165 Gr Bulletworks or Rainier RNFP-Plated over 5.0 VVN320 some in a G-24-6" but most in a STI Eagle 6". Chrono and may have to adjust for Temp, hope this gets you in the ball park. Have FUN and be SAFE, Perry Go to www.lapua.com reloading about everything needed is there, dig around. If you have problems finding info needed, I can give you better links.
  8. Hey ! BOBS ! Their MOTTO " Come and bring GREEN MONEY" Just have all the right stuff and ammo, PO's em RO/RMs to have to scramble to find newbies equipment and ammo to shoot with. GO prepaired and keep em on the paper. Perry
  9. GRUMPY is giving you good stuff, Hide the clays from yourself until until you have loaded several 5 Gallon buckets of ammo. And get your CHRONO ! Mount a wire frame mirrow on your press or table, take a quick look everytime you place a bullet, kinda simple no powder then no bullet, STOP and re-synk everything, start over. Mountian Hillbilly- "Don't do dumb Sheit" and pay attention, plus good Safety Glasses. Perry
  10. For What It's Worth ! Unless you have nothing but time and a fat WALLET, Trying to load for 3-gun is looking up a dead horse. I have a Hornady 366 and 2 single stage presses and a resizer. Em folks that sell supplies have really got greedy, shot-$49 a bag primers $40 per K wads $18 per 500 = HasMet. Here, don't know about other areas, we are getting close to $100 to shot a 3-gun. Now thats gasoline, food, drinks, entry fees, shot shells, slugs, OO, Rifle ammo .223, and .40 S&W. Not much use pissing and moaning about a few dollars for shot shell. A local shop here buys shot shells by the skid, I have been stocking up on shells and supplies. Hard to predict what's going to happen now. With the best goverment that MONEY will BUY. Perry
  11. MAD BEAR, Damnifiknow, what your trying to do. Bullets going thru the sound barrier then droping below do a lil tumbling act, Bullets need enough speed and/or velocity to stabilize in flight. Be safe and cover your back side, JMO your in an area most folks don't know do-do about. Nor do I. In the 70s shot silhouette With a 264 Win, learned a lot about bullet flight and velocity. Maybe play a lil high speed and wide open then go back to your slo-mo. Have fun be safe, ( Count your fingers on a regular basis and wear good high dollar safety glasses.) Perry
  12. Anachronism, Interested in how you cull out loose primer pockets. Most re-loaders I know aquire a feel with hand primer and/or press and throw out any thing that don't feel right. What is a Hart's "Case Saver"???? Re-loaded for 50 + years, BAD cases go in the trash bucket. Hope you don't try to take unfired primers back out of cases, to me that would be a no - no. Cost of a case is not worth taking a risk. A lot of kids and young beginners read forum post. Perry
  13. I read in a Handloading article, the tester was playing with .40 and the most accurate thing he tested was 170 gr RNFP Plated over WST powder. Best groups but test gun fixture was in a vice. And of course all who shoot & re-load are true truth telling MF's. LOL I seemed to miss exactly what your 165s are, shape, plated, full jacket, LEAD ????? If you are shooting LEAD who knows!!!! I shot 165 RNFP Plated Rainier & Bulletworks over VVN320, does good and I like em. STI Eagle 6" Limited likes em too !!! Maybe try some WST or VVN320. I am a 76 year old Hillbilly, if I can keep em on the damnnn paper I'm HAPPY. Have FUN be SAFE, Perry
  14. FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH ! Buy a cheap wire frame make up mirror at the $ store. All thread rod 1/4-20 washers and nuts at Hdwe. Mount the mirror on press frame or table. Every time you place a bullet take a quick look in the mirror. Squibbs can be very dangerous. Pay attention, be careful. Hillbilly - "Don't do DUMB SHIT" Happy NEW YEAR, Perry
  15. VV-N320 loads well in .40 S&W, meters very good, recoil is more of a push back, not muzzle jump. One pound is 7000 grains and yields about 1400 rounds, divide that into your cost will be your cost per. round. A good story for the wife, tell her your savings on powder will pay for the gun in about 30 years. LOL Happy NEW YEAR, Perry
  16. Getting Old is Not User Friendly, My Eye Doc says one can't shoot any faster than eyes will focus from target to target, and as one gets older every thing slows down, some folks more than others. Golden Years, My Hillbilly AZZZZZ, it takes a lot of gold. Happy holidays, Perry 76 yrs.
  17. Steel challenge Class O-Rim I shoot a Ruger competition long flat side barrel & target grips, all Stainless Steel MK-lll. With a C-More red dot, click switch. Would like to have a S & W Model 41 long barrel, target grips and trigger work is probally the best. JMO A friend has one, it's super nice. Hard to find. The newer ones are drilled & tapped for a weaver rail, the older models are not. Shooting SC Five mags make it more better/handy/user friendly. Perry
  18. Nimitz, Accuracy is great but without a lil speed to go with it, you just got yourself a poor/bad azzzzzzz score. LOL Also know one can not miss fast enough to win. Now if you wanna work on both accuracy/speed it takes about a 5 gal bucket of ammo a month, and a fat wallet. Happy Holidays, Perry
  19. Mr. blairmcKenzie1, The guy said, he loads mostly 9MM, my suggestion was to take a look. For info. only I load 9MM with Titegroup, load .40 S&W with vv-N320, .45ACP with WST & VV_N320. If the gentleman has has turnament guns in 3 calibers, and Dillon 650 equipment, I hope he saved a few bucks for a $200 chrono and a couple of loading manuals. I try to encoruage ppl to do their own research and load development. I would feel really bad if someone was hurt because of info from me. Happy Holidays, Perry
  20. FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH Take a look at Titegroup, meters perfect, good all a round powder. Powder is not a good place to save, 7000 grains per pound = about 1500/1700 rounds per lb. 9MM I also like VV - N320. Cost a lil more, but worth every penny. Perry
  21. How about Three things, Gun handling, Safety, Reloading. Perry
  22. A shooting friend was complaining that a stage in 3-gun was shooting about 110 / 120 yds. I told him I didn't know , never shot slugs or 00 that far. I keep recalling that I read some where 70 yds is about max, but I'm getting old and mind don't work good all the time. Any info, anyone? Thanks in advance. Perry
  23. Suggestion Only ! Mount a Mirror from the Dollar Store via 1/4" all thread and fender washers to the table and /or press. Get a econo wire frame lady make-up mirror 1 by 3x on one side. Mount so you can take a quick look every time the Shell Plate/ star is advanced. One has to keep your mind on re-loading only, or it will return and bite you in the butt or worse. Have FUN be SAFE. Perry
