Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks for the advice. My bullets should be here in a couple weeks they emailed me and said they were behind on orders so it will be a couple more weeks til I actually start reloading.
  2. Thanks Taildraggerdave.
  3. I'll be saving Clays for later, I won't use it for now. I don't want any kabooms.
  4. I'll stick to Power Pistol like GrumpyOne said and I'll use Clays when I have more experience. Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it.
  5. I'll check my local store tomorrow to see if they have any. I had to drive about an hour to buy Clays and WSF cause my local store didn't have anything, I was also lucky I found those the shelves at cabelas and sportsman's warehouse were pretty empty. Thanks for your feedback on the Precision Delta bullets I'll be placing an order right now.
  6. That seems off to me....When I was shooting 40 alot in Production, IIRC, my load was 3.2 of plain Clays with a 180 lead bullet... I was making Minor PF at 134 out of and XDM....around 745 FPS....Of course, I could be mis-remembering the load...but I'm pretty sure it was 3.2.... Thats what the manual says, but I'll do 3.2. Have you tried http://www.precision...com/product.php bullets? I'm about to place an order. Thanks for the heads up.
  7. I finally got some reloading supplies. I bough a pound of WSF and a pound of Clays, CCI small pistol primers and no bullets yet, everywhere I went to they didn't have any so I'll probably be ordering some online. My reloading manual suggests 3.4 grains of Clays with a 180 grain bullet and 551 fps. That's the starting load. What do you guys think?
  8. I'll be sure to get one. :-)
  9. Thanks everyone, Hopefully sometime next week I'll get some supplies to start reloading.
  10. I'be be checking out my local store and see what they have and go from there. WSF is what I'm gonna be going with most likely. I do plan on getting a chronograph later on. I think I might have one of the new barrels. Here is a picture I took a few moments ago.
  11. GrumpyOne For now that's all I will be doing, as I get better I will do some kind of competition they do at my range. I did hear that the 180 grain shortens the case life. Is that also one of those rumors? Thanks Hi-Power Jack I definitely will try to avoid any fast powders. Some people have recommended WSF (Winchester) Unique (Alliant) WST (Winchester) Power Pistol (Alliant) Thanks for replying. Taildraggerdave My G23 is a gen 3 I bought it in Oct 2010. Maybe all those kabooms were a result of excessive reuse of brass that obviously make it weaker. Thank you for your feedback.
  12. Hey guys I just got a Dillon 550B for Christmas and I plan to start reloading for my Glock 23. However I've read many stories about the "Glock Kaboom" on 40 S&W and it does worry me a bit. I will be using the stock barrel and will be staying away from lead bullets, also I'm not doing any kind of competition I just need my ammo for target practice. Is there any specific load that you guys recommend? Bullet weight? Bullet type? Powder? I've shot thousands of rounds of Federal American Eagle 165 Grain FMJ and some Blazer Brass and have tons of brass saved up all which was shot through my pistol. Have a Happy New Year everyone. Greetings from Colorado!
