Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. Ok went out today and shot two more strings at the chrono. Here's what I've got 36 degrees today and again all from G24 with stock barrel String 1: 180g Berrys CMJ 4.2 N320 1.135 OAL 1-852.8 2-888.3 3-888.8 4-899.5 5-906.8 6-873.5 7-868.3 8-876 9-881.6 10-882.9 AVG. 882 PF 158.7 String 2: 4.4 N320 1-900 2-893 3-894 4-892 5-903 6-898 7- 922 8-907 9-892 10-911 AVG. 901 PF 162 Interesting that the jump from 4.2 to 4.4 did not net the same increase in velocity as before. Average increased nearly 40 fps per .2 of charge except between 4.2 and 4.4 go figure? Looks like you're right splashdown. 4.5 will be right on so long as I get 20fps out of .1. Back to the press.
  2. Based on some of the info gathered here I hit the range today with a couple of loads and chrono. I will try and include all of the variables available and I will list each of the 10 shots in each string with a question about variance from shot to shot. What kind of variance is acceptable from shot to shot in velocity? I don't know if my velocity range is perfectly acceptable or not. Anyway here goes: 30 degrees while shooting All shot of course from the G24 and factory barrel String 1: 180g Berrys CMJ 3.8 N320 1.135 OAL 1-810 2-798.4 3-806.6 4-796.2 5-812.2 6-795.3 7-790.8 8-775.1 9-799.3 10-819.6 AVG. 800 PF144 String 2: 4.0 N320 1-827.1 2-840.9 3-840.1 4-838.9 5-858.8 6-852.7 7-857.4 8-823.3 9-842.0 10-854.0 AVG. 843 PF 151.8
  3. Thanks for the responses so far. Being used to loading at 1.2 OAL for the Edge I have to admit it's a little alarming setting the bullet in to 1.135. Man it is almost to the shoulder of the flat point bullet. I am loading 4.9 N320 1.2 OAL 180g Berry's for the Edge and getting major pf. So I have a place to start, but I understand that going down to 1.135 is going to increase velocity and pressure, So I was going to start around 4g of N320. I was just curious who had some proven loads with the N320 and Glock. Thanks guys, if you have anymore, please list 'em up.
  4. I've searched around the forum for info on a 40 major load for Glock. I have found plenty of 40 major loads, but most of the info seems to revolve around TG and the G35 when it comes to Glock. So a couple of questions. Is N320 not a good load for the G24 in 40 major? I have run plenty through my Edge but that of course is with a 1.2 OAL. Bottom line, looking for any load data specifically for the G24 with N320. Thanks guys

Yeah you are right. You have to jam it in. The only thing I can figure, and the odds of this are a little crazy, but everytime I have reloaded with my 10 round apparently the slide was locked back, making it easy. which is also rare for my slide to lock back. Anyway thanks for the reply

Maybe this is just the case. I just can't believe I have never noticed it before.

    STI mags

I have attached a picture of both mag tubes. To clarify from more testing, the problem is not the mag catch at all, I swapped a different mag catch from my Edge and same problem. The issue is not when the slide is open, at that point both mags slide in and seat like butter. The issue is with closed slide, and at that point the 10 round mag will not seat within the well with any ease at all. Again, a good whack will seat it, but it takes a considerable amount of pressure more than a "normal" reload during a coarse of fire. Hope this helps. I am having issues with pic attachment, but in the meantime the ribs are deeper and run the length of the 10 rounder.

Do you mean the locking slot in the slide? The notch that catches the mag release?

I actually just cleaned it the night before, but I did take a look at the slide, and see nothing odd.
  10. I have 3 hi-cap and 1 10 round mag for my STI Eagle. This weekend at a match I had a very difficult time seating my 10 round mag in the well. It was full with 10 rounds and of course the 10th is quite difficult to get in in itself and I understand that may be preventing a smooth reload. It is just that I have used this mag since I got it and never recall having an issue seating this mag. I got home from the match and loaded 1 hi-cap and the 10 round with 10 rounds each, and sure enough the 10 round has to be whacked in with pretty good force. Anyway, the primary question is, has something changed (I don't know what) not allowing the seating? Thanks for any help
  11. Trying to add photo but when I try and attach the file it reads "web page not available" So I guess that makes two questions
  12. Allright I did a fair amount of searching and didn't see this issue mentioned. Just installed Ed Brown ambi thumb safety on my 9mm Eagle. The problem is this: operate left side with thumb and all seems well Operate right side and it might last for ten activations before the whole unit falls out I took the grip safety off and reinstalled thumb safety and it doesn't look like the male and female stems ever come together tight enough to lock into place though both sides are tight to the frame on the outside. Any help or experience with this?-

    STI EDGE

Thanks for all of the advice guys. Very helpful. I don't expect for a new setup to make me better (I have tried that enough with golf clubs )but hoping to get something that will grow with me. Thanks again for the info

    STI EDGE

Thanks for your input guys. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Exactly the kind of info I'm looking for
  15. I have been looking into the 2011 Limited pistol market, and as I hoped it wouldn't be, it is overwhelming! Since I will likely never be able to actually shoot the Edge with different options side by side I was hoping to hear from someone who has 1-- What options are worth the money and what options are just spending money? For example: would the average shooter be a better or faster shooter with say a custom from Brazo's or another reputable builder? 2-- Is a lightened slide worth it or do some not like it? 3-- Would I be just as happy with a stock Edge or would the CRP model from Dawson be worth the extra? Any help or comments are apprecitated. You don't need to answer all or any of the questions I have suggested, but what is your experience on this Thanks
