Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Was skipping through channels looking for the Outdoor channel and stumbled across this cart on QVC. Now, Ive never watched the show or channel before but happened to see it. I must be a sucker.... I ordered it. Looks pretty good actually, rated to hold 150lbs and the fat wheels look like theyll hold up well on gravel. Will see how it goes. http://www.qvc.com/Creative-Outdoor-All-Terrain-Folding-Wagon.product.M46738.html?sc=M46738-SRCH&cm_sp=VIEWPOSITION-_-1-_-M46738&catentryImage=http://images.qvc.com/is/image/m/38/m46738.001?$uslarge$
  2. I can do it for ya, no charge. Ok maybe a few beers. I kind of enjoy it. PM me your email and I can sen you a pic of what I did to mine. I dont want to attempt any grip reductions or the like. But the stippling I can do. I get bored easily lol. Anyway. Let me know.
  3. Thats a bloody good idea! I might just do that. Even if its just for shits and giggles.
  4. Hi all, I have a question for you. As we know, ambient temperature can effect powder burn rates which effects chrono readings/bullet speed. I'm in SE MO and the normal day temps at the moment hover around 30-38f during the day. When our local matches start up, our temps will range from about 45-50F through 100f during summer. Im loading MG 180 JHP, range brass, cci primers and Titegroup powder grn tbc. I have the luxury of living out in the country, so can shoot literaly from my back porch. Let's say I make a batch of ammo to be tested in my temp controlled room, around 65-70f (room temp). I load them into the magazines at room temp with the pistol also at room temp. I set up the chrono and get everything ready. Walk outside, load the pistol and shoot the batch to be tested. Total time outside maybe 1 minute. So here is my question. Now, will the rounds be effected by ambiant temp when the ammo and pistol will be at room temp? But shot in near freezing outside air temp? Your thoughts?
  5. I have the powder charge alarm on the 650 and Im pretty good at keeping an eye on the charge before I place each bullet. One thing I will look into though, is a small led lamp to put above the station to give a little extra light. It wasn't the weight of the powder charge or lack of powder. But the content of the powder itself being accidentally mixed with a very different powder. Happy New Year!
  6. Could have gone either way quite easily. I was staying in an RV at the time so my reloading bench was folding table saw and the dining room table lol. Safe to say it was bound to happen lol. Must..... Stay...... Vigilant! Yeah, that would have been bad....Very bad! I had thought about that after I'd got it sorted. Could have been very bad indeed. The weird thing is, I had noticed the different sized powder flakes in the powder tube. But it had been well over a year since I'd loaded pistol, that it didn't click as being wrong. I guess some things ya learn the hard way.
  7. Hi everyone. Thanks for all of your input. Apologies for not getting back to everyone (xmas and all). Turns out, somehow, a while back when I was loading my PR rounds, I used my H1000 in the Chargemaster (as I individually weigh each round) to load. Then for some reason, when I finished, I emptied the unused powder into the wrong container thus contaminating my TiteGroup. I thought it looked a little funny, then when I opened my new, unused container, it was obvious what had happened. So my weights were bang on lol, but the content was way off. That's why it would weigh fine, but fizzle and squib when I fired it. So with new powder, I'll be starting load dev from scratch. I can honestly say that I don't remember doing it, but obviously I did. I guess when I was finish my PR rounds I just wanted to get tidied up and a mistake snuck in. Huge learning experience. Now I have a 1lb tin of "Special Blend" powder for sale if anyone is keen? Haha, kidding. A lb of fertilizer is more like it. Again, thanks for all your input and all the best for the season.
  8. Good point. Also, what are you using for lube? could you be contaminating the powder? Ok, I think I got it sorted. It looks like it was a bad lot of powder (Ive had it a year from my first lot of reloads). My only guess is the top wasnt on tight enough and some how moisture got it or somehow it got contaminated. As I said above. I checked and weighed my charges, I also visual'd the cases (I also have a powder check alarm on the 650 as back up) to verify powder and re weighed cases loaded before and after the squibs. The powder weights were right where they should have been. I just chrono'd 4rnds of the new powder (I just purchased 2 weeks ago) and the ran 681-686. So seems to be back on thrack and I can start loading up to about 170pf.
  9. Thats I think that's what Ill do. Dump all those rounds. Change out the powder to a different container (just in case it was the powder itself) and start again. Ill report back soon.
  10. Ok, went outside. Test fired a round from my old loads and chrono/shoots fine. Next round.. squib (in barrel). I even shook the round to listen for powder. Could the powder be bad? Bad enough to not burn well? When I opened the chamber to extract the case (it didnt cycle) there was no powder that came out.
  11. Thanks for the fast replies gents. I pulled 3 bullets and weighed them and they were within .1grns. I also weighed the charges in 3 shells still on the press and they were bang on as well. I use a 650. Ill go outside a try shoot another just incase it was a cpl bad rounds. Might even try shooting up so the powder is at the bottom of the case (ya never know, but worth a try).
  12. Thats kinda what I was thinking. Before I started each round of bullets (10 of each to chrono). I dumped and weighed 4-5 cases and each weighed in at the correct weight. Yup proper squib with bullets stuck half way down barrel. It made a pop and could almost hear a slow fizzle as well. I just pulled and weighed 3 rounds and they were within .1grns of correct weight. I also just weighed cases that were still on the press with powder in and the charges were correct.
  13. Howdy all. I just started work up for my shiny new MG 180gn JHP's that Ill be trying for next years matches. I started with a recipe I got off here and started just under and working up. The problem is, first round shot, felt lite 402fps, second shot.... Squib. Then fired a round from the second loading....... Squib..... WFT!! Glock 35 KKM Barrel MG 180gn JHP 4.2gn Tite Group CCI#500 primer Range brass AOL 1.152 Second load I upped to 4.3gn TG I fired a few rounds of my old loads to confirm the chrono/gun and it works fine (911fps from my old Prec Delta 165 black bullets) Going by the loads Ive seen on here, guys are making 170pf with this load and Im getting squibs? Any ideas? Merry Christmas Ya'll!
  14. First contribution to the site. Learned this the hard way last week. During the walk through. Identify where ALL of the targets are. I went through one of my best stages so far, all "A" and one "B"......BUT! There was one target that was very well placed behind a barrel through a window under another target which I didnt know was there. So what would have turned out to be a great run (for me) turned out to be one of the worst (points wise anyway). The good thing was, I learned what I did right to get the hits and also learned what I did wrong to remedy next time. Thorough walk through, read over the breif and count the targets to know you've seen/ID'd them. Awesome thread and great site. Thanks all.
