  3. kinda on topic here, but i remember a real funny (at least then) situation at the steel challenge back in the mid-80's when it was held at canyon country. anyway, it was the shoot-offs, with 2 man teams. in the middle of one of the bouts, the clock malfunctioned-apparently some lead splatter cut one of the wires running back to the clock. anyway, they take a break to repair the wire, but did not have the shooters unload, so they were holstered hot. so, once the wire is repaired, the 4 guys are taking sight pictures and, you guessed it...BANG. funniest part was the shooter missed the plate he was taking the sight picture on. serious embarassment as everyone saw it. can't remember who it was, but he's not shooting anymore.
  4. now that's a thought...what if a guy had a brain fade with a beta mag and tried to speed unload to empty the gun...
  5. scoring changes, i don't care...equipment rules, i don't care...just lemme dump a hot gun!
  6. working on 21 years of this, and had my 1st squib today, in a match. never even heard or felt anything different. thought it was just a bad primer, but after racking 3 rounds and none going into the chamber, it all made sense...something was stopping the bullet from chambering...a squib! luckily with 38 supercomp (or super), a bullet rarely can travel down the barrel very far, stopping the possibility of a loud bang and lots of new parts. anyway, rest of the match i wondered if there was another case that had that powder in it...since my loads are compressed anyway, there was no way. had me thinking though. so, the old 550 kicked me in the but...my bad. will put it on my loading bench to remember it by. embarassing...
  7. got it today (in norcal), finally...still no blue press...
  8. there are lots of cheaper places, if u wanna step up from arizona charlies, WIMHO, sucks. i already bagged the stratosphere...$99 a nite for fri & sat, $49 a nite for thursday and monday...yea it's on the strip, but valet parking baby! i'll gladly pay some poor jamoke to hump all my 3 gun gear every day...
  9. WOULD IT NOT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV TONIGHT AND SEE G. W. BUSH GIVE THE FOLLOWING SPEECH..... My fellow Americans: As you all know, the defeat of Iraq's regime has been completed. Since congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is complete. This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American Forces from Iraq. This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now time to begin the reckoning. Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is short. The United Kingdom, Spain, Bulgaria, Australia, and Poland are some of the countries listed there. The other list contains everyone not on the first list. Most of the world's Nations are on that list. My press secretary will be distributing copies of both lists later this evening. Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations on List 2 ceases immediately and indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war. The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world hell-holes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption. Need help with a famine? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France. In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home. On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the Earth. Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France, or maybe China. To Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Yo, boys. Work out a peace deal now. Just note that Camp David is closed. Maybe all of you can go to Russia for negotiations. They have some great palaces there. Big tables, too. I'm ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France, Germany, and Russia. Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are retiring from NATO as well. Bon chance, mes amis. I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded and crushed. I don't care about whatever treaty pertains to this. Pay your tickets tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers, and limos be turned over to some of the finest chop shops in the world. I love New York. A special note to our neighbors. Canada is on List 2. Since we are going to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not pissing us off for a change. Mexico is also on List 2. President Fox and his entire corrupt government really need an attitude adjustment. I have a couple of extra tank and infantry divisions sitting around. Guess where I'm gonna put 'em? Yep, border security. So start doing something with your oil. Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTA treaty--- starting now. It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens. Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them be saying darn tootin'. Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet. It is time to eliminate hunger in America. It is time to eliminate homelessness in America. It is time to eliminate World Cup soccer from America. To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thanks guys. We owe you. To the nations on List 2, a final thought. Drop dead. God bless America. Thank you and good night. "If you can read this, thank a teacher" "If you are reading it in English, thank a soldier."
  10. you will like this trigger. when i first installed it and pulled the trigger, my first thought was there was no way that light strike would ignite a sm rifle primer. well, after a few K rounds, it still goes bang. amazing pull. don't need the adjustable goodies with the set screws...this thing is great as is. flat trigger gives better feel for me when squeezing those long 3-400 yd shots....
  11. it's march 18 on the left coast and still no blue press or front sight...
  12. now that I am as well, i'll chase him down....
  13. best friends marine son on his way from HI back home after 9 months in the sand pit. he got hit in fallujah but was cleared to stick it out and got done in 1 piece. i remember 35 years ago when i got out of the corps. not the same. i hope. but i will get him out to our 3 gun match in may, since he's had trigger time with an ACOG, it ought to be fun for him.
  14. and one video of our USPSA president shooting out of the bed of a pickup.
  15. agree with airedale, when you discount the GT-40, last month's version mo betta.
  16. finally posted (thanx rob). highlites include and attempt to have rifle & shotgun classifiers, but that was tabled. also discussion about multi-gun rules and potential scoring changes, but again, nothing. and finally, a provisional "1911 single stack division".
  17. just updated...plus, early 90's video of TGO shooting a stage while hanging from a parachute harness! http://homepage.mac.com/acog
  18. well, this wasn't very funny then, but it sure is now. late 80's steel challenge used to have shotgun side matches. same as pistol, 5 runs at 5 posppers, 3-4 different courses of fire. anyway, shoot the pistol stages that morning, head over to the shotgun ranges up by mike's school. get to first stage, load trusty 1100. shotgun start is from a rail (ala second chance). in ready position, the RO sez, "you can start with the safety off". cool (except i've never tried that). so, you can guess what happens next. beep-boom!!! gun hardly left the rail. i stop, RO looks puzzled. i ask the stupidist question in the world "is that within 3 meters"? RO, laughing his but off points to what appears to be a trench left by a ditch witch. luckily, i was done shooting the side match only. that was back in the day.
  19. well, my first match was the 1984 steel challenge. went down there with a 7" AMT longslide. practiced on paper plates for a week or so. first stage, you guessed it...outer limits. think i had max time (30 seconds) on 3 of the 4 runs. came in almost dead last. humbled, to say the least. still have the $225 maglight i won.
  20. brain...what version of osx are u running? if yer using panther (10.3), make sure yer up to date to 10.3.8. go into yer network preferences and configure built-in ethernet. you might wanna check to ensure appletalk is active as well. the last thing to do is to add the printer using osx's print utility. you should be able to see it there, which means you can then add it to yer network. i'm kinda guessing here, but that's what to do with all the printers i've hooked up.
  21. 2 Massoni, Butch 4 M Open 91 0 .00 91.0000 91.0000 only real problem i had was blowing the 1st string by re-engaging the damn ambi-safety once the weapon was transferred. only got 3 shots on it. should have had another 15 points!!! the other strings were cake.
  22. according to carl, only 12 stages, not 15. plus, no match hotel yet...same weekend is pga tour, so rooms will be expensive.
  23. Any Turley Zinfandel, or any california cab from 1974...problem is that's the price of an SVI frame.
