    Heaven

hahahahaha...that has got to be one of the greatest pics on this forum...if you lived here, you'd already be in the slammer, for thousands of years! oh well, 5 more years till retirement, and outta the people's republic!
  3. I've got both Viton and Teflon (PTFE) versions on order. I'll have the seals in my hand Monday. I'll post my results then. You will not *believe* what I'm paying for them. What have others tried? found these o-rings at www.McMaster-carr.com, but they have 2 different OD's. which one would be the correct one for an 1100? 1 1/8" or slightly larger 1.129"?? None of the above. 0.989 + .070/2 = 1.024 OD I've never seen an o-ring sold by OD, however. Only by ID. OD as in outside diameter...

  5. "My wife's a little slow...it takes her an hour and a half to watch 60 minutes...ok, she's dumb"...
  6. Maybe if more of us had volunteered to RO it would have been more consistent. At the end of a 4 hour RO shift I can't tell the difference between a rule section number and the measurements to the playmate of the month. The RO's at this match shot 12 stages on Thursday then worked their stage for 3 full days! To make it worse the RO scores weren't counted in the competition because of some thing that happened last year when the RO's shot early and some ding-dong got all the RO scores thrown out (or so I hear.) So if the RO's made a couple of mistakes TFB. Call the RM that's what he's there for and if you're still peeved, arbitrate it. Everybody got through the match safely so the RO's fulfilled their primary mission. If we really want things to get better we can't put up with the crap that caused the RO's not to be able to compete in the first place and volunteer for a shift next time. Besides that ... I had a GREAT Time! Special thanks to WNPL for a fun match and it was nice meeting you Bruce. i had no problems with any part of the match, except for the 3 day schedule...we were so far ahead, that match could easily been done in 2 days. the 2 1/2 hr break to vist the 3 vendors was a bit much. also i heard the stage with the sink was originally intended to have water in it. by the time we shot it, it was dry. heard that the morning squad on the 1st day found the water to be partially frozen (hahaha). can't imagine the arbitration that would have went on with that one (i.e. one's hands being 36 degrees vs the afternoon squads being quite a bit warmer...not to mention the safety issue). but anyway, the stage was changed and all shot it without water in the sink. i was just curious that some of the new rules were, in fact, implemented as part of the match...at an area level. overall, i had a great time. kudos to wnpl, again.
  7. i was lucky enuf to see lee shoot for the first time...this guy is scary fast. watch out!
  8. Don't even get me started on Stage 8. "Might be a classifier" is sufficient enough to classify it as a legal Virginia Count stage? It fails the "short course" and "standard exercise" definitions. But wait..there's more.... When we shot Stage 8, we were told that we had to have two large rocks in the start box...which combined weighed probably 7 to 10 lbs. The CRO placed the box loaded with the rocks on your arms for you...and warned you to not drop the rocks on your feet...because they didn't have any first aid if you did. Later we find out that other shooter are starting WITHOUT rocks in the box. So we went and asked the RM if this was the case....he in turn went and talked to the stage RO and asked him...the stage RO told the RM that there was no requirement for rock in the box and it was the shooters option if they wanted them or not. Thats not what we were told...clearly the course had changed from when we shot it and others had shot it. USPSA rules are clear when a course changes (either reshoot it or toss it). The RM was indecisive on how things should proceed....we kinda pushed for the chance to reshoot it.....and the RM said he didn't know what to do. He didn't offer us the chance to reshoot it...and he didn't suggest anything about tossing the stage. Rather than causing turmoil....our squad decided to drop the issue. plus, the match was run under the new rules (i thought i heard in all the stage descriptions). i do know the 2 poppers on stage 9 were maybe 7 yds away! also, i saw one guy nail the 33yd no-shoot on stage 8 three times, only to be dinged for two.
  9. having seen a few modified Tec tubes that hold in excess of 4 shells, i decided to try the mod myself. i cut several to the correct dimensions to accomodate 5 and 6 shells. i made a jig and used epoxy and fiberglass wrap to connect the two pieces. the lone remaining step is to cut the handle "channel" where the wrap covers it. was curious what the cleanest way would be to cut that slot. anyone else tried this mod?
  10. well heck, rich...we never talked about this...of course, being out of the corps since 74 makes me an old timer, but then again, once a marine! good luck at benning...and stick with rotary...fixed wing for revolver shooters... c u at a 3 gun match nearby...and be thankful yer leaving the people's republic.... Butch....
  11. this thread has the funniest stuff i've ever read! back in the mid-to-late 80's, 3 of us shot the steel challenge in piru. we rented a motorhome from a retiree i knew. went to the shooters meeting in town the night b4 the match. we were camping at lake piru, so on the way back to piru, buddy decides he has to function fire his plaxco comp gun to ensure the steel loads work. there are lots of orange groves on that road. it's probably 2100 or so, so we're cruising along about 60 mph and one buddy opens the door while the other finishes off a mag into the orange trees. thing worked fine (till the match, of course). anyway, we finish the match, drive home and clean the motorhome and return it. no problems. a few weeks later i run into the retiree who gives me a little baggie with 4 empty 45 cases in it. guess we missed those...
  12. have 1/2 dozen movies of the stages up at: http://homepage.mac.com/acog/Menu1.html you'll need quicktime (i know BE has it!)...
  13. took 13 year old daughter to a hoobastank concert last night. was wearing a 2003 uspsa nationals shirt and wife gets all over me...says i'm trying to make a statement! you should have seen the way these kids were dressed! man i miss hendrix and mountain...
  14. fairly obvious...most fun stage at the steel challenge...
  15. back in the early 90's, the guys who had the steel challenge (don hamilton was one) did a match for a couple years called the trophy challenge...they used tombstone targets and time plus scoring, with a ton of steel, and no power factor...the match was an absolute blast to shoot. put it on rich, and i'll be there...
  16. piece of cake...rolled to left side, grabbed tec loader from pouch, awkwardly guided it to it's final resting place and finished off the final 4 poppers...
  17. thanx rich...but you know how going to brownell's is...had to order other goodies as well to justify the shipping! hahahaha..
  18. after last week's reno marathon, someone needs to invent a way to unload rounds from ar mags! my fingers won't work for another week!
  19. funny...i'll be vacationing up there the same week...there's an ipsc match at the eugene range that sunday...i'll be dragging the gun (only one of them) along for the ride...
  20. my take on 5.2.5.3 was that it applied only to a pure shotgun m atch, not multi-gun...and yes, you bet i switched between stages, many times...
  21. i had no problems with any of the great folks who worked this match. i really like [RO #1], but [RO #2] can sometimes be rather gruff, especially given the circumstances surrounding the long days last weekend. on the airplane stage, my 30rd mag dropped from my ar-it wasn't seated (my fault)...after trying to get the damn thing in, finally opening the bolt and then ramming it home, i realized the mag somehow got 31 rds in it (again, my fault). anyway, finally finished the stage and after clearing, [RO #2] shoves the timer within 6" of my face and says "it took you 30 seconds to get your first shot off"...for a minute, i thought i was back at MCRD in 1972. before i can say anything, he says something like "no one took that long to do that". in disbelief, all i could muster was "what the hell did you want me to do"...anyway, i digress. having done this game since 1985, done numerous nationals/areas/sectionals, etc,, and have been level II for many years, i still appreciate the jobs these fine folks do at these matches...especially the marathon of last weekend!
  22. tough stage 14 (i think). pistol/rifle deal...pistol targets only had a zones under new multigun rules. rifle targets from 75 out to around 236 yds or so. 2 shooting ports (both prone and in the corner of wall with walls on each side) so, you HAD to shoot thru each port at each rifle target...as bigdawg pointed out, that meant left and right handed!!! then there was a wild run thru the desert shotgun maze requiring some long shots at a number of US poppers...there was a run at walmart that evening for high base 6's....
  23. sterling...was sorry to hear about what happened...we were on the same squad the 1st day. that must have been tough. i agree on those stages that just begged to blow off the long range stuff. tommy t figured that out on stage 15, took the 4 misses and his HF was double everyone else. i wanted to shoot the damn targets though. problem with the multi-gun stages was that in many cases, the rifle experts got hosed due to the fact the other aspects of the stage were other guns. oh well, same folks at the top, of course. there were a high number of folks that got stung for not having a clear weapon....
  24. what a marathon...multigun stages caused delays, as suspected. stage 6 (the airplane) was taking 9 mins per shooter. friday start at 0700 and finished by 1415. saturday started at 1330 and shot a rifle stage at 2056! long day. have to say the stages were mostly fun, not difficult, but extremely technical and challenging. the last stage we were supposed to shoot today got tossed before we could shoot it. results? dunno. split early as lack of sleep was getting to us. did see matt burkett tear up the long range rifle on "port trouble". some army team guy had a suppressor and got bumped to open...hahahaha.
  25. neil...this provides clarity to me...hope it works that way next week in reno. meanwhile, i'll start hacking away on a frisbee...i like the idea of not having to go to the safe area to uncase longguns...especially since we'll be shooting multigun stages all week.
