  1. Being in Northern IL, I shoot year round. I personally like the warmest gloves I can find, and don't worry about how well they work for shooting. When it is my time to LAMR, I will be wearing almost the same thing I do when I shooting the summer. Once I am done, then the jacket, gloves, and hat go back on. If I'm in the zone, it could -80 degrees, and I wouldn't notice.
  2. Stong hand thumb rests on the safety, and I know there is some pressure there, as there is across the entire grip on the gun, but I don't try to bend the safety off of the gun.
  3. That's great news. The down side is that 35% of the populatuion (voting population anyway) was for the ban. Hopefully the shooting sports will continue to grow, and that percentage will go down.
  4. Smaller itmes include a Hydrostorm, Primmers, and more odd powder than I care to recall. This year I won my first gun at Area 3. A CZ .40 cal 75B. I am always happy to win things. Any prize is a cool one.
  5. Less than 500K, but I couldn't say for sure. If you count the 6 years of competitive trap, that adds alot to all of the rifle and pistol. Current USPSA L-10 - Master All other divisions- A. Some by default, some earned.
  6. Thanks for clearing things up a little Lee. I am using a complete secound computer from here at home. It is the "Gun Room" computer, and since my employer supports my shooting, that isn't a problem. All and all, from what you guys are saying I think I'm OK. I wasn't all that worried anyway, I just didn't like the idea of my employer being able to look into what I am doing ever minute of every day. Thanks, TriggerT
  7. Thanks for the replys. I understand George's reply that as long as the Host machine (my computer at work) isn't running the PC Anywhere program, I should be OK. That is pretty easy to do. I don't follw what George means about dedicating "a computer to the home based work machine." I am sorry to say that Nik's post went completely over my head. I am a computer idiot, who is very slowly picking up bits and pieces as my job requires. Anotherwords, could you repeat that, speak slowly and use small words.
  8. I just installed PC Anywhere on both my work and home computer. The reason for this is that my wife and I have our first child on the way in January, and I know I wont be able to make it into the office as much as I regularly do, so I can do more work at home this way. My question is this, since my boss has my password for the PC Anywhere set up (for MY computer) can he snoop on what I am doing at work, and or at home? It's not that I am doing anything I shouldn't, other than ducking in here once and awhile, but the idea of "Big Brother" looking over my shoulder in such a sneaky way bothers me. What if I just turn off the program while I am not using it, and turn it back on at the office before I leave for the day? Any info would be great.
  9. Best, or best gun for the money? The best, for me anyway, is Les Baer. Helps that he is only about 1.5 hours away, so I can pick the gun up at his shop. Otherwise, ..... hell otherwise there are tons of options.
  10. I hate the Diesel is now $1.10 more per gallon than Gas! I hate that I have lost all of the passion I once had for shooting. I just don't care anymore. I hate that I am supposed to be putting on the monthly match in November at our local club, and I haven't been able to come up with one good idea for stage so far. I hate feeling like I am always living from one paycheck to another, and yet I feel liek I am never spending any money. I hate that the company I now work for thinks a 55-60 hour week is "Normal" and if we work any less we aren't good employees.
  11. No question. Give them a chance, and ANY Chicago team can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Having said that, it is nice to have a winning team in Chicago for a change. I'm a Cubs fan, so I am used to disapointment.

    Diesel

OK, first off I am not complaining about gas prices. Big difference currently between gas and diesel. As stated above, I feel the current crunch on diesel is because of it being the time of the year where people are stocking up on heating fuel for the coming winter. I feel the rise in fuel prices is a multi-level problem. First, the demand for oil has gone up on a global level, since China and India are using more oil than they ever have in the past, and the rest of the countries of the world sure as hell aren't using any less. Second, we have not built any new refineries in close to 30 years. Crude oil could be selling for $5 a barrle, but if we don't have the capacity to refine the oil into the fuels we need it wont make a difference. Lastely, let's face it, the oil companies ARE making record profits right now. Not normal percentage profits, but a substantial amount more than they have in the past. I don't blame them for for making money, that is what they are in business for. However, there comes a point where they are working together to monopolize the market. Rant done!

    Diesel

The price just keeps going up. One station had it at $3.39 last night on the way home from work. That is as higher than I have ever seen gas at around here.
  14. I just wish the state I live in would pass a CCW law.

    Respect

Great to hear! Sorry it hasn't always been that way, but at least we just might be learning from our mistakes.

    Diesel

Heard on the radio this moring that during his first year in office Bush (Jr.) said that the lack of new refineries was going to be a major problem, but congress shot him down. Hmm...... hindsite 20/20?

    Diesel

I think the fact that it is the time of year where people are buying their heating oil is the right answer. Just really makes for a MAJOR pain in the pocket book. Carlos, As far as changing over to "Bio Diesel" or Frech Fry Diesel as some call it, there are some problems. One of which for those of use living in the midwest is that you can't start your Diesel engine on the Bio stuff when it is cold. Bio won't work worth a crap when it is cold. I looked into this a litle bit when i first got my PowerStroke, and while it might be the way to go eventually, I think Diesel will have to be closer to $5 a gallon before you start seeing it become more common.

    Diesel

I hate that the price of Diesel is $0.75 more per gallon this morning than gas. WTF!?!
  19. I would love to continue to use the single stack I have used to compete in L-10 with for the last few (since L-10 came into being) years. However, it has a full length dust cover. Kind of sucks that my custom single stack .45 is illegal for the Single Stack division, but those is the breaks I guess.
  20. After Nationals this year I really lost interest in shooting as well. I still shot a match here or there, but there was no desire to shoot. I shot last night, and it is starting to come back. I'm still not to the point I was right before I moved up to Master, but it is getting better. I think we all get burned out, disgusted, or whatever. Give it time. If it comes back, great. If not, well, there are other hobbies out there. I just haven't found any other one that is as much fun as IPSC.
  21. Glad to hear I'm not the only one. Leave for work at 5:15, try to get home by 6:30 or 7 pm. My boss did the Office Space "Um yah, I'm gonna need you to come in on Saturday. That'd be great" bit to me the other day. Wish I got paid for OT.

    The Package

I'm right there with you 300LB. After 2 minutes I just wanted the thing to blow up so the stupid music would stop. And really, would getting a bomb on your desk first thing Monday morning be all that bad? At least it wasn't on a Friday. It would suck to make it through 99% of the week and then get blown up.
  23. I didn't take the time to read every thread here, but I did run a search, and it didn't find anything for "Portillo's." I don't know if they are anywhere outside of the Chicago area or not, but their fries are THE BEST. The perfect heart stopping lunch is a double bacon cheeseburger, large cheese fry, and a large chocolate shake. Mmmmm, makes me hungry just thinging about it.
  24. I love Starbucks, but I'am way to broke to buy one everyday. Lucky for me the coffee at work is free. The woman who is our office manager makes it, and it is like diesel fuel. Anyone who complaines that it is to strong she instantly labels a "Sally." Luckily for me I like coffee that stops just short of giving me the shakes after one cup.
