Finally read the FAQs

Finally read the FAQs (3/11)

  1. I had a Trojan 9mm years ago. Awesome gun, The throat was pretty long on the barrel. I was able to get away with 1.190-1.200 with fmj 147s and 38 super mags ( spicy stuff for bowling pin competitions). Id check the throat on yours, by making some dummy rounds with the specific bullet and ogive profille and see if they stick on chambering and extraction. Most 9mm specific 1911 mags wont let you go that long. 1.169 is SAAMI max length for 9mm NATO with a fmj. I'm pretty sure you can get away with anything under that oal if it feeds in the mag you are using. On a side note I now have a Staccato-R single stack and the throat on that gun is quite similar to the Trojan. I feel there is a trend in the industry (9mm 1911 single stack production guns) to throat the chamber long, so there are no problems chambering the multitude of bullet ogive profiles. Especially truncated cone profile. Like older Hornady XTPs or RMR match winners for example.
  2. Just picked one of these up. I there a consensus that the extractor spring needs to be replaced with the Wilson +50% , out of the box? Secondly, I may have missed it, but does anyone know what the recoil/hammer spring rates are from the factory? Thanks.
  3. Heres the link for the 45. https://techwellusa.com/magwells/pcc-techwell-for-cmmg-lowers-for-45acp-mags.html
  4. I run one. The stock buffer that came in my 16in gun is an H buffer with a Sprinco(White) regular carbine spring. This setup has performed really well with everything from 160gr @1050fps all the way to .45 Super 185gr @1600fps , 255gr @1200fps handloads for bowling pin comps and Hog hunting. I did try a standard carbine 3oz buffer with the 160gr loads for a few USPSA matches with very good success, the recoil impulse was minimised. But this rifle already shoots so soft due to the radially delayed blowback . Geissele SSA trigger, has worked really well in my rifle. I run small primer Blaser or Fed brass and CCI 400 primers. Most factory loads will gain about 100-150fps in this 16in barrel , .45 SUPER will be quite a bit higher. (These guns are factory rated for .450 SMC and .45 SUPER) If you want to go slow say 130pf, I would switch to a 3oz standard carbine buffer and ** POSSIBLY** a sprinco reduced recoil spring or one of the subsonic 300blk springs. The Kriss 30rnd mag extensions have worked well as long as you have a Glock mag body that doesn't bulge (having a few mags to try helps a ton) Techwell makes a Mag well and it is fantastic. These are really great rifles and pretty awesome that you can make a ton of power with 45 Super if you want to. I have about 4500rnds through mine of all types of bullet profiles and velocities. Semi-wadcutters are problematic in feeding as are some wide meplat hunting bullets. Round nose flat point and traditional fmjs work great. Truncated cone bullets work well as long as the oal is short. Mike
  5. I've been using 200s for both bowling pin comps and USPSA for a while. Glock 35 KKM barrel 4.7 WST 4.9 Autocomp Both at 1.13 with small rifle primers make 170pf in my gun. WST is a soft push AC a bit more pronounced. Both are great to shoot.
  6. I know this is an old thread, but did you get any information after all this time? Id like to play with my 23s spring rates. Thanks.
  7. I agree, Vhit 3n38 and 147 FP is evil on pins . I'd love to see a 165 fp
  8. Why FP? I've always had good luck with RN. Bowling pins. These bullets kick butt on the pin table. FP grab the pin better and don't glance off as much for un centered hits. So they say.
  9. We want 1/2-28 9mm ish!! Side note do we need a photobucket etc etc account to post pix here???
  10. @ ROBIN TAYLOR . ---When are the 1/2-28 ones coming out, called, written, wrote my senator. But to no avail?? Haha.
  11. Thank you for the heads up!!!
  12. Is there any consensus on appropriate front sight height on the 17/22 set up, with a Dawson adjustable rear? Also any word on a 1/2-28 threaded sight block? Thanks.
