  1. Just wondering if anybody knows if there is a GRIP MOUNT optics mount device available for a Para 1640. I don't want to have to drill the receiver, just want to have it hold in place with the grip screws. I have two that fit a Browning HP and also a Beretta 92, but haven't seen one for the Para wide body frame.
  2. I own two Trojans and a Para 1640. Based on my experience, I would not bet my life on a Para. The one I got was pure junk. The point about STI is they are built by people who deliver hand fitted guns all day long. Paras are mass made guns which means you get some good ones and some complete boat anchors. EDIT TO ADD: my Para was bought around 2005.
  3. That's the problem with cortisone. It doesn't address the root cause of the pain. It does degrade bones and joints over time so it has to be used sparingly.
  4. I always immediately punch off anything that puts up a commercial. Their software registers that. As for adblock software: I have it and it makes everything go blank as it has to wait while the ads play through. So you don't see the ad but you still have to wait for it. In some cases adblock locks up the video feed. The sites detect when adblocks engage and put up screens saying that you have to go up to the browser settings and disable the adblock software.
  5. My eyelids started to constantly twitch back in 1995. The only relief is botox injections. So every three months I have to go in and get a total EIGHT injections, one for the corner of each eyelid injected straight into the eyelid. The pain is beyond description. But, it's the only thing that makes them stop twitching.
  6. That was my thought. The heaveir bullet accelerates more slowly so it gets out of the muzzle slightly later. If the shooter is moving the gun slightly with the trigger pull, the muzzle will have moved farther off line when the bullet leaves the barrel. The heavy bullet probably also has more initial recoil so it would aggravate a problem if the gun is not locked on line.
  7. I have a G35 which I shoot with a 9mm conversion barrel and I don't have to change anything on the frame to shoot 9mm.
  8. No, I went back to it on my G35. I used a lighter recoil spring and noticed the slide pulling slightly out of battery as I pulled the trigger. The recoil spring opposes the force needed to pull the striker spring using the trigger. Don't go too light or the slide will move as you pull the trigger.
  9. The house we first lived in was in an area that had chronic outages. When we got our energy bills they were labeled "rotating outage" so they were not accidental damage or storm caused, they were intentional. We moved, no problems then.
  10. The only restrictions I know about are on hightech gear or devices which could be used for military purposes being shipped to belligernet nations like North Korea or similar. The US does not care if somebody sends gun sights.
  11. I have had very good luck with the AVG free anti virus software. It doesn't cripple the machine like all the other ones did, has been good at protecting, and it's FREE.
  12. Yes, but this is more than just iTunes misbehaving. Windows vista never should have been released as it was. They should have sat on XP another couple of years and just put out windows 7.Or better yet, just fixed the bugs in XP and never released Vista or Seven.
  13. I don't ever remember that. I never had iTunes tell me I couldn't burn a cd, even back to 2005 on xp. And you could also always also synch it over to your iPod, which was the original reason for iTunes being written. But all iTunes music is drm-free now (has been for years and years) so it's a non-issue.I quit buying from Itunes because it was a royal PITA. The music files I bought were not MP3, they were LOCKED MP4 files so I could not edit them or do anything until I ripped them off to an external CD into a WAV file, then reloaded them onto my PC. What a waste of my time.
  14. There are lots of good FREE programs for PC to burn CDs. I got: CD Burner XP Cyberlink Power 2 Go
  15. I like the idea of soaking the barrel in Kroil a while too. Is it possible you could reach in with a right angle sharp tip pick and hook the muzzle end and pull rearward? Another thought might be a wooden dowel of the right diameter you could jam into it and twist. Home depot sells a lot of dowels.
  16. Can't you just bend that leaf a touch to get some tension on it? Been a while since I set up 1911 triggers, but I recall that I adjusted the spring leafs independently to get about equal tension on the trigger itself and the sear. If you hold the hammer fully back and use a precise trigger pull gauge: the first tension is the leaf against the trigger and then an increase when it starts to deflect the sear. I think I set those up for about ten ounces on the first and then about 20 ounces for both together. Anyway, you should be able to tweak it in.
  17. And you can kiss some teeth bye bye... your teeth may as well miss a face for the rest of their life lol.seriously, i will never ride a bike with an open face helmet ever . i've witnessed in many, many occasions what a 60 mph crash can do to a nut,and generally ,highway speeds are a tad higher than 60mph...and this is not talking about concussions even wearing a fullface ....it can ruin your life . Most people don't realize just how LOW a speed collision can send somebody over the handlebars, even when somebody just hits a parking curb in a lot. If your helmet doesn't have a section in front of the chin, your teeth are generally what meet the concrete first. I was watching one of those X games things when a teenager on a BMX bicycle went over the bars and did a face plant on the wooden floor of the half pipe. They showed it again in slow motion..... the kid was spitting out teeth like a popcorn machine after the impact.
  18. Yes, they all provide motorcycles. It's the gear that you are encouraged to bring. They have some helmets but I've got a small diameter noggin and the chance of getting something comfortable is low. I'd rather spend some bucks up front on some kind of helmet that fits, even if it's not my long term best choice. Sorry, missed that on which gear you were talking about :-) Helmet main thing I don't think I've ever been sorry spending too much on ... and I have opposite problem of big noggin that barely XL fits. As cold as it sounds: if you have a fit issue, try the helmets on locally at a bike shop then buy off the internet. Save a couple hundred bucks.
  19. There are tons of modulars available in the $100 - $150 price range. I got a brand new one off ebay for $85 (made by Vega) example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-SUMMIT-3-1-MODULAR-HELMET-BLACK-SILVER-/380872916791?pt=Apparel_Merchandise&hash=item58adcb7f37&vxp=mtr
  20. Maybe, but sometimes a suicide is just a suicide..... a way for a troubled person to check out. And the window dressing is the excuse.
  21. That's exactly right. I went up the food chain here and asked the UPS guy why they require overnight and he told me very honestly: they don't trust the min wage monkeys who work there and want to reduce the time in their possession so they have less chance to steal it.
  22. +1 The "need" to use overnight air or next day air with Fed Ex or UPS is strictly their own policy, not law, but that's what they require. Some people lie about the contents and ship via UPS/Fed Ex using a cheaper grade but the problem is that if it's lost or stolen, you won't collect the insured cost if you lied about the contents. Only a holder of an FFL can ship via USPS, so it's often cheaper to use one because it saves a lot of $$$ on shipping cost compred to UPS/Fed Ex which are like $80 out here.
