I am not sure the long slide would be worth it since the FS barrel is already 4.7 in. Adding .3 inch or so wouldn't make much difference. I am more interested in the low mounted adjustable sights and an optic ready model. And perhaps a ported barrel and slide. Craig

Decent Rifle Light that doesn't break the bank?
spd522 replied to steviesterno's topic in Rifle - Technical
http://www.lapolicegear.com/lapg-operator-l1-flashlight.html I put this light in a std rail mount in a way to click the tail cap with my thumb. It is very bright and works great on my defensive carbine.. I liked it so much I bought a second one. I have several Surefires and Streamlights but this is definately a lot of bang for the buck. I have never tried the Luth but plan on using one for a bull barrel build I want to do. I actually like more weight at the back to offset the weight of the barrel. My left shoulder is trashed from a car wreck and unable to maintain steady so the rearward weight helps change the balance. I use a Magpul UBR. Very solid and adjustable, but heavy. Craig

I have two, one on my TO rifle and one on my HTO rifle. Light and tough but kind of fat compared to the aluminum forearms out there. They are like 2" OD.

Agreed. The plate was visible with the pallet intact. Stage said shoot them as visible. It was fair game. It was more a stage setup issue. Had they initially set the plate 6 inches forward or to the left, none of it would be visible except from the far end. I saw guys hose that stage and still went to the far end to engage the plate. With all the delays and work by the ROs, it should have stayed. But the table was random draw so it really didn't matter either way. The junk car was more of a problem for me.

Bushnell Tactical Elite 1x6.5 BTR1 good for 3-gun?
spd522 replied to 818-DVC's topic in Rifle - Technical
I have the BTR-2 SFP on both my TO and HTO rifles. I wish illumination was brighter but in reality, I haven't had any problems using it in any lighting conditions so far. In the bright, I can still seen the reticle, it's just a dull red to black. In the shadows and trees, the red pops out where the black fades. I have another scope with the BTR-1 FFP reticle and don't like it nearly as much as the BTR-2 SFP. -
18" Nordic paired with Voodoo Low mass carrier Problems
spd522 replied to Oskino's topic in Rifle - Technical
I had to move my Voodoo around to different guns before finding one it ran in. Even guns that full mass BCG ran in, the Voodoo would short stroke. It ended up in a 16" 300 BLK and so far, has worked all the time shooting subsonics. My JPs run fine in whatever gun they are in. -
2015 Missouri 3-Gun Championship

Looks like a fun match. Wish I wasn't injured and could come play. Craig -
I used Freedom Arms 178 gr A-Max last year in my DPMS AP4 308 I use for 3 Gun to take two deer. Both dropped in their tracks. 1.355 " group at 200 with it. Hornady Superformance 165 SST are amazing on deer too. I have had good long range success (612 yd antelope) with 150 Nosler BT handload also. For elk or anything big, 180 gr Barnes TSX is my preferred bullet. Craig

Jesse said they need at least 10 total to sign up between HTO and HM before they will recognize the heavy division this year. Last year was just 7 total. Still, I would like to shoot HTO again so I plan on signing up for it. I can always fall back on something else if the numbers aren't there. Craig

I have an older MechTech for a 1911 in 45 ACP. I use a Para frame and with Grams basepads, get 18 in the mag. Mine runs great, even SWC. Velocity runs about 215-220 fps faster than out of the 5" Para. Craig

We can't thank you enough for all you do, Linda. We mortals could never survive this. Craig

My 16" DPMS AP4 and my 20" Remington 700 AAC-SD will both shoot the 178 A-Max reman into groups under 1.5" at 200 yds. Better than the 168 Federal GM. I have never tried the 155. The 147 fmj shoot well enough to use for all but the really long range stuff. At least in my guns. And the 178 A-Max drops deer in their tracks too. Craig

I had to have Bruce Gray work on my SIG All Around as the factory SA trigger was under 3.5. He and Roy were shooting the AA that year too so their work wasn't just to my benefit. Gun shoots way better than I can. Craig

The pouch hangs about mid thigh and is still a couple of inches above my knee. And I am short.. I run it on the left side but were I shooting rifle left handed, I would put it right behind my holster. It will not interfere with your draw, clears the holster, and is still easily accessible. This is the drop leg mount I use. http://www.blackhawk.com/Products/Bags-Packs-Tactical-Nylon/Load-Bearing/Thigh-Rigs/S-T-R-I-K-E-Drop-Leg-Platform.aspx The Mag pouches I use are Maxpedition Molle but I don't know why any other brand wouldn't do the same. These work well though. http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/HOOK-LOOP-CARBINE-MAGAZINE-POUCH-13p2644.htm I shoot mostly HO but have shot HI. Now that 1x optics are OK, I may try HI again.

All Around for me. Recoil is very soft in a 46 oz. pistol. Craig

I went with a drop leg double pouch for my .308. I ran out of room on the belt, well room I could reach, when all the other stuff got put on. It is a Blackhawk and has two leg clips and one from the belt. Easy to take on and off as needed. The belt strap stays on the belt between two ELS clips and I just unclip it from there. FYI- I will be 61 next month so I understand the limitations. Your 16" barrel will be fine. Mine shoots better than I can. Adjustable gas block should help some. Mine is 1/10 twist and seems to prefer heavier bullets (168 and up). But they are all different and I can ring 500 yd steel with de-linked surplus 147 gr MG ammo. Sometimes. Craig

AP, Samson, Lancer, and JP all give tons to the sport. They deserve your support in return. They all work excellent and it is really personal preference on looks and feel. Craig
