  1. Shot both. Both are accurate and reliable. SIG has a better trigger and doesn't have that safety/decocker jamming into your thumb. It needed to be higher and out of the way or lower so you could ride it like a 1911. HK is also larger. HK is more lefty friendly. Both will outlast you. Craig
  2. Never had mag problems with any of my Paras. Are you sure it isn't a gun issue since it has been 'smithed on before you got it? Craig
  3. I have the BRT-2 SFP model and really like it. I agree there could a bit more forgiveness in eye relief but the clarity and reticle make it worth it. I will probably get a 2nd one so I will have one on both my TO and HTO rifles. I used it on my HTO this past fall to take two does at 210 and 219 yds in the dwindling light of sunset. Craig
  4. I took a picture of the Bushnell 1-8.5 next to the 1-6.5. It is a bit bigger but I think it is the bigger knobs more than the tube size difference. If I can figure out how to post a pic, I will. Craig
  5. If I remember right, the top finishers in AM last year would have finished around 55-60th place had they shot Pro. Scores are no longer on the site so I can't confirm. Just going on memory (which seems to fade a lot lately). Craig
  6. Mike at Accurate did the lightening and slick angle cuts to the bolts on both of my M2s. Jeff at C-Rums did all of the rest of the work on them- sights, loading port opening, larger bolt release, welded carrier, and some internat tweaks. Both guns run on anything I have tried. Craig
  7. You mean your Rainbow colors and leather chaps? Craig
  8. She will probably kick your ass, Chad. You want to play and you gave me crap for shooting AM at the ProAm? Craig
  9. At what FPS? I'm getting 3070fps out of a 18" barrel. Out of which end, Joe?
  10. My Para Open gun was originally built as a 38 Super. I had it rebarreled for 9mm but the old 38 Super mags wouldn't work, no matter how long I loaded the bullets. Luckily, I also have a P18 and several 9mm mags. They run great and another thing I noticed is they work with the 38 Super topend also. Craig
  11. The same military surplus MG ammo that is about 60% in my DPMS has been 100% in my Remington 700. And surprisingly quite accurate. I guess I need to try the Steel Match in the Remington. I may get a pleasant surprise in it also. My 550 is setup now for .308 so next year, I should be in good shape with some reloads. Craig
  12. I have different results with the Hornady Steel Match in my DPMS .308. Such as it won't go bang. The only other ammo that does this in the DPMS is surplus military MG ammo. Any factory brass case boxer primed ammo works fine. FP hit doesn't appear to be too light. It has JP trigger and disconnect but stock hammer and hammer spring. Seems to be wacking the primer sufficiently. I have shot Hornady Superformance in the DPMS and it's great. Two deer this year to prove it. But for some reason the Steel Match just won't ignite. Craig
  13. I pretty much hate prop guns of any type in a match. That is what side matches are for. And having a prop gun off the clock is a waste of time. It does nothing but create issues when it fails and that part of the stage gets tossed. Everyone who shot it beforehand wasted time and slowed the stage down for everyone. If you must have a prop gun, have it on the clock and let the shooter furnish the gun. Tell them ahead of time to furnish their own gun and a of minimum 9mm/.38 cal. 4-5 shots required. That way they can at least shoot something they are familiar with or borrow one they are comfortable with. And no reshoots because the POS derringer had a 45 lb trigger pull that had to be pressed at a 62 degree angle to fire. Keep it simple, no open guns, but otherwise, let the shooter decide. Craig
  14. It looks like it's the old scores that got reposted. This is the place of finish before the final scores got posted. It is showing me in 5th and when the final scores got posted, I was bumped to 10th. I am sure they will get them corrected again. Craig
  15. Yes to both. I had heard of the clamp being an issue and figured that was probably it but this kind of gives me a reason to get a new shotgun. Plus I won't have to mess with swapping parts in the future. The new X-Rail tube looks interesting. Anyone using it? Craig
  16. I have been switching tubes on my 21" M2 depending on match rules. The tube that allows 11 in the mag sticks out quite a bit. The tube that holds 8 is pretty much flush. Unfortunately I have found the changing tubes also changes my slug POI. Other than the Pro AM stage shooting in the car, the longer tube hasn't been a problem. So my M1 safe queen is going away to become another M2 with 26" barrel so I can leave the long tube on it. I dont' want to have to keep changing configurations depending on the match. Both guns will be set up the same other than barrel/mag tube length. Craig
  17. I have a complete upper, OPS4 Operator. I haven't really tried to see what it can do accuracy-wise nor have I shot it past 100 yds. It's a 16" barrel with 1/9 twist. But it has been 100% reliable with every ammo I have tried in it... factory, Wolf, and handloads. I have used it in a couple of 3 Gun matches but they were shorter, speed matches. Worked great. The side charger is faster and gives you more leverage. Mine is on the right side-the only side available when I got it in 2009. If I had a choice, I may have chosen the left side for weak hand charging. The handle is attached to the bolt so it moves as the bolt does. That may be a distraction if it's on your weak side as it will be somewhat in your face. There is a slightly more noticable thunk when the gun is fired, probably from the added weight of the charging handle. A good comp cuts that down. I have a friend who has a couple of ASA side chargers. They have been problematic and ammo finicky. My LARs doesn't seem to care what you feed it. It has always run. I have always had the intention of putting a scope on it for that very reason. But, so far I have only shot it with irons or a RDS. Craig
  18. I have shot this match several times. This was by far the best in regards to fun, fast stages. Time plus scoring made it all the better. Now if they can do something about that muddy road.....
  19. This and everyone I know has at least a 9 round tube for all of the other outlaw shotgun matches. Thus the upcoming rule change by USPSA. My M2 will hold 11 in the tube. Since my stubby fingers can only hold 3 shells at a time, it works well for me to load 3 at the buzzer and start shooting with 12. But for the next few matches I will attend using USPSA rules, I will just stick the 8 rd tube back on. Craig
  20. Jeff Gordon in KY was doing DPMS mags. I have 2 of them. They hold 27 but I blocked them to hold 20. They are great for monopod use and I don't have to worry about putting too many rounds in them. $70 if I recall correctly. Been a few years. Craig

    Para pistols

At the NRA show in St Louis in April, I asked the rep where all the Paras were. Their display only had a handful of pistols on it. He said they only are showing the ones they are currently building. I questioned what he meant and he said they are doing different pistols at different production times. So not all models are being made at all times. The are only displaying the models they are building at that time. Personally I thought it was a dumb answer. I don't know if that was the case or he was just a dufus. Either way, I can't see it being a good thing for Para to market things that way. Craig
  22. +1 I drilled the small top and side port on mine just a tiny bit and it really settled the gun down. Plus it doesn't beat you and the RO to death with the side blast like a Titan. Craig
  23. I am going back to limited for this match since they don't recognize any heavy classes. It will feel like cheating with a 5.56 and 9mm after Ozark. Craig Don't forget to tell yourself to shoot faster. My rifle splits were like 0.5 at ProAm with my .223 until I realized that the dot wasn't moving like my .308. I will try. If I can get to half as fast as you, I will be happy. Craig
