I need another 18" barrel for a TI project. I have found a 1/7 twist mid gas White Oak Armament barrel and a 1/8 twist rifle gas Nordic barrel. Price is about the same. I have no experience with either but both seem to get good reviews. Thoughts anyone? Craig

BROWNING HIGH POWER 1st time owning one
spd522 replied to Kimbertarget's topic in "Other" & Pistol Comparisons
BHP was my ESP gun for years in IDPA. C&S kit will help with the trigger but it still has a long reset. I never had problems reloading as the factory mags are spring loaded and empty mags launch out. I no longer shoot IDPA so my BHP became a host gun for a suppressor after the addition of a threaded barrel. Great gun. Craig -

No beer or midget hookers for $25. -
Got in AM . I am hoping the others that ride with me got in too. I know one is @ 31 on the wait list. But I haven't heard a peep from the other two. That is disturbing. Thank you Linda for putting up with this over and over. It is a lot of work and we do appreciate it. Craig

Both of my M2 Benellis shoot slugs great as long as I use a LM choke. Anything else and they tend to wander. I usually shoot Federal Tactical slugs. Craig

My Mech Tech is in 45 acp and marked Wilson Combat. I got it around 1997 or so. I put it on a Gen 1 Para Ord gunsmith frame that doesn't have the ramp cut. I have shot it a lot with everything from 155 SWC to 230 LRN and it runs them all. Generally, whatever load I shoot through it runs about 210 fps faster than through the std 5 " barrel upper for the Para. So some of the old 155 SWC that used to be the ticket in early USPSA Open division, run around 1400 fps in the Mech Tech. It really takes down steel, even at 50 yds. I thought about loading some 165 JSP for deer hunting in a stand but never did. Craig

My Circa 1999 P18 runs with 1.200 OAL 124 FMj just fine. Found this out by experimentation. But I don't load that long normally. You will need the Arrendondo inserts or the follower will twist in the bottom and hang up. Some of my mags hold 21. Never got 22 in any of them so you are lucky. Usually I just load 20 and not worry about it. Craig

The match needs to be moved a week earlier. I know part of the reason for the match date was for those that also come to shoot the Bianchi Cup don't have to make two trips. They can shoot the 3 Gun and stay for Bianchi. But I don't think that many shoot both matches anymore. Last year, even less did. I talked to a few at Bianchi and they said the 3 gun match messes with their timing for Bianchi. They prefer to concentrate of just Bianchi. The scarce motels with outrageous prices will take it's toll if this match remains on MU graduation weekend. And no one will want to be a match hotel and give rooms at a discount. Just my thoughts.. What is the deal with chokes for 3-gun?
spd522 replied to JPT's topic in Multi-gun Gear & Accessories
Light Modified is the choke I use about 85% of the time. If the steel is close or lots of clays, I will drop down to IC. A few times I used Cyl and a few Mod or Full. But these last 3 make up about 5% of the time. If only choosing one choke, I would pick LM. Craig -
I ordered one direct from BladeTech. Took a while to get it but it works perfect for my All Around. Craig

I have a couple of C-Mores mounted on rifles. They have 4 MOA dots. One advantage to a C-More vs most of the other dots is the ability to dial down the intensity to a level where it is semi-transparent. With this method, I can see a small target through the dot at extreme distances where other dots may cover it up. That said, I am still going to install 2 MOA modules as I have a Vortex SPARC with 2 MOA dot and prefer the smaller size. I would probably go with a 1 MOA if it were available and bright enough. Family Weekend at MU or some crap like that. Hotels within about 30 miles are pretty much booked. MU events have screwed up shooting matches for years in the area and will continue to do so. Just something we have to deal with to shoot in the Columbia area. Plus the hotels jack up the rates for MU event weekends. Craig

Which powder should I try to find for loading precision 308 while usin

I have been using CFE223. Seems to run through my 550 quite well. And getting over 2600 fps with 175 SMK out of a 16" DPMS AP4. Craig -
I have a JP on my DPMS and like it . But when AP releases their carbon fiber model, I will probably go to it, just to save weight. Craig

Bladetech WRS . I have one for 1911s and one for my M&P 9L. Fast and no chance of the pistol falling out. Craig

Great. No carts lets us drive the vehicle with better mileage. Craig

1st time for this match. Are carts needed or can we drive to each stage? Craig

Benelli and C-Rums.

At the Rockcastle Pro Am, to obtain Amateur points, you had to shoot Pro. Reason being, points on all other matches are a percentage of the Pro scores. In the Amateur division, no pros shooting skews the 100 pts earned for winning a stage. My bet is that this match will not earn Amateur or Jr points. I really wish it did though, as Ozark was my 3rd needed match and with it cancelled, I won't have 3 matches in for the final standings. Not like I was going to win anyway. Craig
