  1. hand guard, gas port size, and mags don't interchange easy so I assume there's some internal stuff too
  2. What did you do to "tune" the spring once your were at the desired PF?
  3. Curious what made the Chaos a stand out? Caliber, popples, grip etc?
  4. I have a gen 2 carbine that has always ran factory wolf steel cased ammo 100%. I did put a Hyperfire trigger in it, changed the hand guard to an Isler, replaced the charging handle, added a mag well, replace the collapsible wire stock with a minimalist, and ceracoked it white. Now granted it ran fine before changing all this stuff but I like to tinker. It never did like my low PF reloads. Once I tried the wolf and it ate it up I decided that was all I was going to feed it. Couple side notes. I also have a gen 2 pistol with a brace. It is set up basically the same way minus the cerakote job. When pulling the charging handle on the pistol next to the cerakoted carbine the pistol feels like junk. It just feels gritty and takes almost twice the force to rack it. The cerakote made the carbine so slick when I first got it back I shot a match with out lubing it. The the inside of the receiver was dry - 0 lube. I had cleaned the bolt and carrier while the gun was getting painted and it was only lightly oiled.
  5. Not so far. I have a red 510C too. On freshly painted glossy white steel in direct sunlight I have found they all (RTS2 DPP slide ride Eotech red green whatever) wash out to an extent but are still visible... Maybe aimpoint T1/H1 is the only one that can over come looking directly at white steel or even the sun maybe
  6. Sounds like time/patience is your biggest concern and not budgeting. That being the case if you haven't shot any to influence what you like - order what you think is coolest. Then buy something used now and to hold you over till you get your new custom gun. Then keep the used gun as a back up or resell
  7. Do you get lead in your comp? Any reason your not shooting a jacketed type bullet?
  8. My two guns weigh in at 40 oz for the lighter set up and 61 oz for the heavy. Ironically the lighter gun needed the barrel sent in to have the chamber reamed to accept longer loads. I reassembled and without the barrel it weighs 30 oz and it feels too light aiming it at scale target. I could imagine a gun this light would be hard to run fast and accurate when pulling the trigger really quickly. I think my biggest complaint about the heavy rig is carrying it around all day at a match. By the end of the day my hip is ready for me to go put the gun in the truck. I foresee more tinkering in my future....
  9. Dang! That's awful! I have always worried about where my holstered pistol is pointing and tried to keep it away from leg foot etc. On a side note last year I switched to CMJ loads in 9 major. My thought was if I did have an accident I would rather it not be with a hollow point. Gotta ask what projectile did you put thru your foot, PF etc?
  10. I have a very heavy open gun. Steel grip tungsten sleeved barrel. And I have a lighter open gun. Plastic grip titanium comp. Super light AR's are cool. Why aren't super light open guns? I know there's the whole "feel" aspect of this and on a limited gun heavy makes sense. But if the comp and poppels keep the gun flat and dot returns to target on both guns how is heavy and advantage? My two guns shoot diferently but neither is uncomfortable shooting the same loads thru them. I seem to gravitate toward the lighter gun but the cool one is heavy. Right?
  11. I messed around with coated bullets trying to evaluate for suppressor usage. Basically all the ones I tried (didn't try BBI) at minor velocity had coating loss = exposed lead leaving the barrel. I decided it wasn't worth running them thru my suppressors and stick with HP loads. It would be interesting to see if you tried a CMJ or HP bullets of the same weight and kept the powder charge the same and see if the issue persists.
  12. What is you load? Powder bullet etc? What's your lube? How wet is it before you start shooting? First pic the slide looks wet?
  13. Go Gun for my short thumbs.
  14. Reload Half the witchcraft of open is in the ammo. Gotta brew your own, experiment and tinker
  15. Does not sound like you are a fan. Curious if any you single stackers has tried one of these https://ruger.com/products/sr1911/specSheets/6759.html I had one of the 45s when they first came out. I had a hard time complaining about anything on that gun - especially for the price. Wish I would not have sold it...
  16. OP left us hanging. Any more updates with all the voodoo and witchcraft that has been brewed up here?
  17. Someone should start a new thread that says builder disappointed in customer...
  18. I lost one once many years ago. STI 170 shooting a 38 super gun. I was the only guy shooting open back then. Now I mark them
  19. I reload to 155s. I think it all in what you get used to. Now 140s feel too small and I have a hard time grabbing them in the right spot and 170 seem to long when reloading. I think its all in what you practice with
