  1. Definitely C.O.M. a lot of the top shooters are using this for 3 gunning. I use a Ghost for pistol matches and now a COM for 3-gun.
  2. Great service from both! I ordered my XL650 last Sunday from BE store and it was delivered on Friday! I also called Dillon on Tuesday for a replacement primer alert buzzer for my SDB, and it arrived on Saturday, NO CHARGE! If you are thinking about buying a new reloading machine, get a Dillon and buy it from Brian. These are 2 of the best and their support is awesome! Thanks Brian and Dillon Precision. Doug
  3. Plan on stippling my grip and found this by searching. Just thought I would bump it up so others could see how to do it. This post is worth bumping! Thanks to G-ManBart!
  4. Had the same problem with a Steelmaster but it was only with 1 bigstick. 5 other mags worked perfectly. Check to see if it happens with all your mags, if so, a 90 degree C-more mount is the easiest fix.
  5. I agree with the idea of not buying the barrel and mags but to buy the reloader and down load. I have been using a Dillon Square Deal for years and it comes with your choice of dies already set up. The plus side of shooting .40, is that it is really easy to make Major PF for Limited division or down load for Minor. I just switched from 9mm (Open) to .40 (Open) and don't feel much of a disadvantage of less rounds in the mags. On a long stage, there is almost always a point that you have time to reload. It has been easier to get .40 cal bullets then it has been getting 9mm bullets and .40 brass is available all over the place. If you do a search on these forums, you will find a ton of load data for both major and minor loads. Just saying! Doug
  6. Thanks, I contacted Mark and I am probably going to send it to him in the next week or 2. Doug
  7. I am looking for a gunsmith that can mill my STI slide for a Trijicon RMO2 sight. I would like a known smith with fast turn around time. I only have the one competition pistol and don't want to be without it for very long. PM is the best way to get in contact with me since I can check it at home and work. Thanks, Doug
  8. If you are looking at Glocks, then you should look for a G22/35. You can shoot these in Production, L10 and Limited in both major and minor PFs. Should you decide to shoot in Open, you can convert it cheap and easy! Magazines, holsters and mag pouches are available all over the place. If it were me, I would go with a G35. It has a lot of the mods you would want on a competition gun. ie. adjustable sights, 3.5 lb trigger, extended mag release. Welcome back to competition! Doug
  9. Welcome Brad, Check out minotrifleandpistol.com, there is also a club in Bismarck. Doug
  10. Here is some info on what is required for temporary importation of a firearms for hunting or sporting purposes: VISA NOT REQUIRED (Most Canadians) Legal Nonimmigrants Aliens who don't require a VISA - As of July 2012 Nonimmigrants who don't require a VISA ARE NOT required to submit documentation (Hunting License / Shoot Invitation) with ATF Form 6NIA when submitting for approval. ** As of November 3, 2013 a revised ATF Form 6NIA with changes has not been published. Publish date unknown! VISA REQUIRED Nonimmigrants Aliens who require a Visa - Shoot invitation or state side hunting license (any state) is required to be submitted with the ATF Form 6NIA application. - Contact shoot management to receive a Shoot Invitation. - An approved ATF Form 6NIA with stateside hunting license (any state), gives unlimited entry for valid reasons, not necessarily hunting. Hunting license option is recommended for club visits, practice, attending shoots; league, fun, charity, without the need of a shoot invitation. License Accepted: Non-resident shooting preserve, non-resident small game hunting, or non-resident non-game. An Approved ATF Form 6 NIA is still required to be presented at the time of import and is valid for 12 months from the approval date. Doug
  11. 5.3 AC with 124 gr Bayou bullet. Shot out of an opengun and a stock M&P Pro.
  12. I use a small bungee cord with the black ball. You can get these from Wally world.
  13. This goes to show how popular this match is. I went through this in the past with the DPMS Tri-gun, it was so popular that you had to attend 3 years in a row to get a chance at an early entry, then what ever slots were remaining, opened a couple weeks later. I was lucky enough to get in the required amount of years to receive an auto invited, then it went away! Major disappointment! Now with this new system for SMM3G, I had my app sent in within 20 seconds (I had to type all my info in at the change over time), and I made it to the wait list. I was lucky enough to have a lower number and was awarded a slot around midnight. This isn't much different from last year, except I was on the waitlist for weeks before I got a slot. Unfortunately, my shooting partner for the last 10 years didn't get a low enough number to get off the wait list (yet), so I will be making a 1600 mile trip to Az and 1600 miles back by myself. If this stays the way it is, then I would like to see an option of allowing 3 peeps per application. As with everything, change is inevitable. Some for the good, on-line squading, some for the not so good, electronic registration. But improvements will be made and we will all adjust. I commend the SSM3g Staff for trying something new and taking all the fall-out. With usable suggestions from the shooting community, maybe a fix can be found that will please most of us. .02 worth Doug
  14. I'm with you Pat, Bummed! After going through 4 months of our winter in ND, we really looked forward to this match.
  15. Did anyone else's waitlist e-mail show a registration date of "Oct 21, 2013 12:00:55 AM" ? Did the ones that got in show a different date?
  16. Try the Bayou bullets, I switched to these and haven't noticed any more build up then if I was using plated bullets. I shoot them in a M&P 9mm with a Storm Lake barrel and a Carver comp.
  17. Thanks Mark for keeping this match in Colorado! Looking forward to shooting it again this year. Doug
  18. Take a look at The Shooter's Source Jersey on their website. $59.99
  19. I shoot Open because of 3-gun. I get to have all the bells and whistles on on 3 of my guns! Rifle gets 2 optics and a bi-pod, shotgun gets to be fed with a box magazine and has a dot sight, and the pistol is just plain fun! I used to shoot a Steelmaster 9mm and it was a great gun for around $3k, but I wasn't getting any better (my fault not the guns) so I decided to try something different. I bought an M&P 9 Pro (for about $500), then I started changing it into an Open gun. First thing it got was a complete APEX trigger and spring kit ($200 and about 30 mins to install). Next came a Storm Lake barrel, Carver Comp and recoil spring, ($350 and 30 mins to install and locktite). Then came the optic, a Leupold Delta Point, ($300 and again 30 mins to remove sights and install). Last was the magwell, ($90 bucks and only about 5 mins to install). It came with 3 mags so I bought 1 more and added TF bases to all 4, (about $160) add a holster and mag pouches and I have around $1700 total into it. Sold the Steelmaster and mags for enough to pay for this build, another M&P 9L and an M&P .40! The only problem I have had with my Open gun was my own fault. I had left over 9mm ammo loaded long for my STI that wouldn't chamber fully in my M&P. When I got home I reseated this ammo and it ran flawlessly. Was my 2011 a better gun, yep, but you couldn't tell it by me. So for less than $3k, I have 3 guns instead of just the one and I am still having as much fun shooting Open, plus I get to shoot Limited and Production with guns that all have the same feel. Just food for thought!
  20. Ken, Have the conformations been sent out? What about round counts? Also, will the squad list be sent out before we arrive? There was a mix up with my app, it was counted in with the CMMG match instead of this match. Thanks, Doug
  21. Don't feel like you are alone on this! I did the same thing but the RO was so amazed at my speed, he didn't catch the fact that I didn't do the re-load until I told him. I have shot the same classifier a couple times since and found that counting the shots is ALOT faster than re-loading from slide lock. I used to reload after each dry fire shot then I started counting and pulling the trigger different set amounts of times before reloading. Now I sub consciously count all most every stage.
  22. Dawson Precision has grip tape squares in different colors and I have this on my Saiga forend. Seems to hold up ok and you can cut to any shape you need.
  23. We have a local internet sale site that had 2 sets of tech loaders for sale. They were for a winchester but the tubes should be the same. I used the same tubes for my SX2 and 1100. Look up bismanonline dot com, go to recreational, guns. Hope this helps.
