  1. I use Bayou Bullets in my Open .40 at both major and minor PF without an issue. Use the Dillon case lube and you should be fine. Accuracy has been very good with Donnie's bullets. Doug
  2. I bought a double mag pouch off of e bay. I was looking for tech locks and found a guy selling them with tokarev double mag pouches. They fit my Buckmark and 622 mags.
  3. A couple good sites for parts and accessories. The Shooters Source and JoeBobs. You can also find a lot of parts for sale on Ebay. I build all my ARs and have built guns with 1500 dollars in parts and as low as 600, and they are all a lot of fun to build. Take your time and research the options you really want, then buy your parts. I have swapped out several parts that I thought I wanted, after I found a different one that I liked better. Like it was posted above, get a good trigger! Doug
  4. At a match, ask the experienced shooters how they are going to shoot it and how you should shoot it. I guarantee they will tell you! They are not afraid of you beating them and they want you to get better, I speak from experience. Kurt M and Trapr S. are awesome teachers, and have given me lots of tips while they beat me! Doug
  5. Mine is from Shooters Source and ads 2 rounds to my tube. Just used it at the Nordic match in Mn and it worked great. Jeremy has them separately or in a kit with a new spring plus extras. NC also has new MXT tubes in various lengths. I got a new MXT from Ryan at NC then added the +2 from Jeremy, now I run 11 underneath and 1 in the chamber. Remember that you can only have 9 at the start but can up the count afterwards. I have the 21 inch barrel on my M2 and this combo's length is about the same as a 26 inch barrel. If you only want 9 in your gun at pre-load, then get a +6 tube from Nordic. Then you can just load 9 under, rack one at the make ready command and your good to go. Doug
  6. We were concerned that this match might not be worth driving for 28 hours round trip. Trust me, it was worth it! Mike and staff did an outstanding job providing a fast, fun and safe match. We are already putting this match on our next year's schedule. I would also thank Jeremy Moore, The Shooter's Source, for his support to our shooting sports and our team. If there is any parts you need for your guns, get in touch with Jeremy, and I'm sure he can hook you up. Finally, Congrats to my teammate, Deane Graves, for his win in Open and "Overall" match winner! Thanks Mike, for a great match!
  7. Great match again this year! Thank You to all the ROs for time and all your hard work in making this a fun match! Good things: -I really enjoyed shooting stage 4, a fun setup that had 5 moving targets that were activated by a bowling ball . --This was a good thing, so was not having to shoot the timed pop up targets this year. -Another good thing, THE PRIZE TABLE! WOW, what a spread. -The banquet. -Seeing old friends is always a GOOD thing! But along with the good there was also some not so good. -Registration process. Need to have an option of adding multiple names to one entry, it would help keep teams together. -Awards and prize table. If the Awards start time is 1430 then start at 1430 not 1600! --Maybe the sponsor awards should go on during the protest period to save time. --Bag and seal all the prizes before the prize walk. All the big prizes (guns, reloaders, ammo, etc) would not need bagging since they are to big to bag, and they are gone with the first shooters. The trays are usually left for the rest of us, so close the bags and make it a grab bag type of selection. If you pick one up off the table, it's yours. This would stop the back and forth selection process and save a tremendous amount of time. It still gives sponsors exposer when it is opened out in the crowd since we show each other what we won while we are waiting for the process to get over with. Overall a great match again. Thanks to all the SMM3G ROs, staff and Dan. Hope to be there again next year. Doug
  8. Break Free to clean and then Mobil1 0w20 for lube.

    40 Open

My dot stays in the glass and my PF is right around 172 in my gun. I think if I can get the lighter bullet around the same PF, the gun should ride a little flatter. My recorder glasses died on me but all my shooting buddies say my gun stays really flat with the current load but I think it can be less.

    40 Open

I am shooting the BB 155s with 7 grains of AC. My gun really likes this load but I want to see if I can get the flip a little less, so I ordered some of the 140s today. Not sure what charge to use to get major but I will start with 7 gr. AC and work up from there. Doug
  11. Racker! I just installed one on my pistol and would never go without it again. I never see it when shooting. Had a couple jams on one stage and the racker made it so much easier to clear the pistol and get back up and running. But like it was said earlier, get the ball detent, makes it easier to pack into a case and to get the slide off for cleaning.
  12. Mark, I understand Colorado's law, my concern is about USPSA saying we can't load more than 15 rounds in a mag since it wouldn't be fair to new shooters. If they say we can't use HC mags in our Openguns, then what is the difference with our HC mags in our rifles? Doug
  13. "New Colorado Magazine Laws & Limited/Open Division" is the topic of this post, but understand, this law affects all the divisions in Multi-gun matches. I don't own an AR mag that is under 20 rounds! Is USPSA going to limit the rounds in the rifles since NEW shooters won't be allowed to buy HC mags in Colorado? If Colorado doesn't repel this law and USPSA says that we are limited to 15 rounds in our rifles (to keep it fair for NEW shooters), then I think a lot of shooters will bypass matches there. Just food for thought.
  14. Use a dry erase marker and cover the case and bullet on one that won't chamber, then drop it in and see where it is touching. This should identify the issue.
  15. Check your case walls and make sure they are resized. I'm pretty sure it isn't your OAL that's causing it. My 40 did the same thing and it was the cases. Doug
  16. I have had both and would give my vote to the 1640. The TS was a great gun but the Para was easier to get parts for. ie mags, mag bases, holsters and magwell. Plus, if you decided to get an STI down the road, you would already be comfortable with the platform. IMHO Doug
  17. Went back and checked, and the rule has been there for a long time. Made it through a couple Nationals and a lot of Local matches without ever being checked. My bad, it is corrected now!
  18. Well, after checking my holster, I was at 2.5 inches! I use a Ghost holster, so it is fully adjustable. I had to tilt it back in towards the top, then my slide racker hit my belt. So then I turned it so the bottom of my grip was closer to the belt. Now it is time to practice my draw since the holster doesn't sit the same. I think my biggest concern is that OPEN is being restricted. What's next? Doug
  19. Exact same gun, I didn't even change springs in my opengun. Why would you want to shoot major loads in your Edge? It is a lot of extra power for plinking, shooting major loads. If you just want a hotter load for around the house, then get some +P loads. Also, my 38 super had the different extractor and I shot 38 super, 38 supercomp and 9mm through it. Doug
  20. I think Bergie got it right on the rule. This rule is basic to the position of the gun and mags, not the reloading devices attached to the gun! Now it's time for me to go check my equipment and make any adjustments required. Doug
  21. I have had 2 stock Edges and 1 DP Enhanced Steel Master. The SM had an ICE magwell, was hard chromed and a trigger job. I would recommend getting the CRP Edge. My 2 Edges where good to go the way they came but I eventually had a trigger job done and installed the larger magwells. The hard chrome makes them more durable in inclimate weather. STI guns are built in quantity and are great off-the-shelf guns for competition. Custom guns are built one-at-a-time and are awesome in fit and finish. I have shot my buddies custom gun, and it ran flawlessly, but I couldn't see paying that much more for the gun. My Dawson SM also ran flawlessly and at half the cost. I am a B class open shooter and I could buy 2 new Grand Masters for the price of my buddies gun! This is just my humble opinion. P.S. Dawson was great to deal with. Doug
  22. .40 is the way to go. 9mm major is only allowed in the Open Division in USPSA and you would have to reload since "major" nine is not sold in stores. I have shot 9 open and am currently shooting 40 open, and I like the feel of my 40 a lot better. It isn't as snappy and very easy to load for major. Should you decide to shoot 9mm then you could look for a conversion barrel to change your gun to 9mm. You can put a 9mm barrel in a 40 cal gun, but not the other way around. The breech face/extractor for a 40 will work with a 9 barrel but not the other way around, since the 40 case head is to large in circumference to fit under the 9 extractor. When you decide to start reloading (and you will if you stay with the game), look at the Dillon reloaders that BE offers in his store. The SDB is a very good loader to start with, and Dillon's warranty is unbeatable! Just food for thought.
