  1. How about chrome, trigger job to a crisp 2.5#, Bigmouth magwell, Cyclone mag button, Brazos Micro-Dot front sight... It's a significant upgrade from the Edge... Of course, if IDPA is a concern, you can't have the lightening cuts, and you have to use a smaller mag well (usually, STI w/ the sides shaved down) to fit the IDPA box. I would imagine one could be built without lightening holes, if you needed it that way. If you're not going to shoot IDPA with the gun, the lightening holes make a big difference in the recoil profile of the gun, and it would be good to keep them! I bought a used STI Edge on here and I think it was probably somebody trying to replicate the Brazos package. I think Brazos' guns are indicated as such on the slide based on the e-mail I received from the proprieter. I am not going to state that I was mislead, but I probably overpaid for a used gun. Nonetheless, I would probably get something different than a Bigmouth magwell....maybe a Cape (looks cool)....not sure if it would "fit" in the box though...anyway. Additionally, even my small hands do not fit very well do to the profile of the well. Nonetheless, I would still suggest look for a "used" gun on here.....just be a little more cautious and do some research regarding the costs.
  2. It kind of depends on how much it was shot, used and under what conditions? BTW it has been my experience that at least the finishes were slot better on Rem shotguns made like 10 years ago
  3. Ahh........how wonderful it is to live outside the ROC! In the free world where the only thing stopping a purchase is your credit card limit.......
  4. +1 on the Pics? However, I do agree stay out of the bulls**t! Seems like women can try this and even if things don't go well with the relationship, they come out smelling like roses. Guys try this and if the relationship goes even a little bit sideways, they are to blame and they are horse...... Well you get the idea...leave it alone unless she asks? Just my $.02 worth...which is worthless!
  5. Alright.....we are not talking "by the rules" here.....I guess the guys wanted to get me out there? I told them what I had and they stated I should come shoot. So....I think they would probably allow me to shoot with the gun, but the holster would need to be by the rules. Otherwise, I guess I could use my CR Speed WSM II. THANKS!
  6. I spoke to a couple of guys last weekend at a local gun show about shooting their IDPA match. They had factory guns and ss and I woundered if anyone makes an IDPA legal holster for my STI Edge. I dried a Safariland model (leather) for a 4.5" Glock and it fits alright, but it does not cover the trigger guard and I am concerned about retention (in the longterm) because it seems to be too tight. In addition, it seems to shift too much when I draw. Any suggestions? THANKS!
  7. I am thinking of building a new upper that is piston driven and most come in complete kit form. I was wondering would it be possible to switch barrels (longer stainless) in the place of the kit available. I think Bushmaster is selling a piston driven upper for a very reasonable price. Also, are these systems pretty much equal in reliability and felt recoil? If not, who makes the best on for the money? THANKS!
  8. I am thinking of replacing my primary shooting glasses from Oakley Pro M Frames. These never really fit my face that well and I obtain these because I thought all the "cool" like Rob Leatham worn them...so I had to have a pair. Additionally, I had a gift certificate for Calellas....and they carried them. I have tried some Oakley Flak Jackets and they seem to fit better on my face, so I was thinking of going with them. Two questions, should I spend the extra for Polarize lenses so that I can use them for say fishing also or is the extra cost ($60) be more of a hinderance in shooting...i.e. is there some visual disadvantages in shooting with these type of lenses. Also, I have seen post of the Rudy Project glasses....and it seems that the company supports (shooting team) the sport. Went to their website and I was wondering what model would be appropriate? Saw the tactical models (isn't that good marketing) to guys.....and the lense shape was kind of a wrap around style. Secondly, do they have retail dealers....to try these on or is it all done over the net? THANKS
  9. Been there, did that on my LDA1640. That POS would jam every other round when new, and the rounds were hitting the flat part of the ramp hard enough to drive some of them .050" back into the case. Funny...that is exactely how I refer to my P1640Ltd, now that I have an STI. Wow.....if only I'd had known. BTW....for a defense gun the LDA has a sweet trigger. But....if it doesn't feed...well what's the point?
  10. Exactly. Florida keeps winning somehow, but if they hadn't have started this year preseason #1, they would not be #1 right now. Alabama has had its ups and downs, but they seem to have more "together" this year. Didn't Florida win the National Title last year?
  11. WOW....once again I am glad I DON'T live in the ROC! I always wondered about that (in the white) thing as I was thinking of building an STI based gun from scratch. I ended up purchasing a used STI EDGE on here. It is way better than my Para LTD. Nonetheless, I wouldn't worry about it if it is just surface rust. I have seen the before and after of these....it is truly amazing the finish will take care of all your problems. GOOD LUCK!
  12. OMG...will it run???? WTF are u spending $1,200 on.....if you are not sure it will cycle any loads? Not to be an a**hole, but I too am a Benelli shooter, some would call me...... I had an M-1 for years and NEVER had a jam, malfunction will ANY load. I have an M-2 now and have not had a chance to shoot it much but I would hope that it is as good....cycling wise. Now....I have dremeled this, lightened that....f**ked with this or THAT....but it is the BEST factory cycling shotgun you can buy. P.S. Thinking on buying a POS Russian crap...just so I can have constant problems and smithing bills.....LMFAO!!!!! GOOD LUCK and BE SAFE!
  13. Maybe STI guy, he can't afford a, in my opinion, an overrated and very expensive Benelli. They all malfunction from time to time. If it has not already, yours will too, then maybe someone will say to you, trade that POS. Already looking for a SAIGA...so I can spend an inordinate amount of time and money to get that POS Russian crap to function....LMFAO!
  14. You probably should put a spring of a known rate in it before you go too far anyway. Why would you not want to take the slide off...you're going to have to (many times) anyway, so why not now? It may have a Recoil Master in it and you probably want to know that as well. For ammo in that ballpark I'd probably want at least a 16lb spring in the gun. A properly fit gun doesn't really wear more because the spring is a couple of pounds lighter, but there's always the chance it's not perfectly fit and then it could make a difference. For typical .40 Major 12.5-14lbs are the most common weights folks seem to be using. R, Cause I absolutely hate cleaning guns......the gun is stainless..... I think the cleaning thing goes back to my youth when I was a very avid duck hunter. Anytime I could get a chance to slog around in the rain and mud to chase ducks, I had to beg and bribe my dad into taking me......with I'll clean your gun. So now, I typically buy guns for their weather resistance. THANKS non the LESS!
  15. I had bought some 135 gr .40 factory ammo to use possibly use for hog/deer hunting at "very close range" a couple of years ago. I have a Para P16 Limited that I purchased it for. I recently acquired an STI Edge (used) from someone on this forum. Not knowing the recoil spring rate and not wanting to dissemble the gun...would it be safe to shoot in the STI? AMMO is pretty hot.....like approaching 10MM balistics. I believe it is like 1,650 fps according to the box. THANKS!
  16. I believe that's B.S. based on my experience is selling and trading with Cabelas. I have been told that they must make atleast 15% on the used guns. Some of their guns sit for months. Be CAREFUL as they got that gun for alot less! I shop the Ft. Worth store quite often. Sure wish they would have that KIND of "stuff".
  17. Yeh...there pretty good. However, there idiots when it comes to their comps though! I had to call like three times to get them to send me one of their comps and then it was the wrong one. I was also told that the "practice" can was not avaialble to the general public and/or it required a Class 3 stamp.....
  18. I did not have any problem with mine. SOCOM Long. Initially, I did not put the pad on, but it seems to help keeping the stock firmly planted against chest/shoulder area for quicker followup.
  19. Or you could dump that POS and get a Benelli!!!!!
  20. Take the last poster's advice. I had the same dilemna buy or build. I had/have a Para P-16 Limited. I just really wanted an STI. I found a used one on here for less than the sum of the parts. GOOD LUCK none the less!
  21. "Built" is there a source for components? I would like to know details on where to obtain a long wide dustcover airsoft version of my STI. However, I think I want it to run on Propane and be gas blow back. Is that something you can build or get "components" for? Thanks!
  22. FYI: I believe they sell a parts kit....not a finish.
