  1. Received a NIB Remington R1 as an early Christmas gift as a "going away" gift. How much time and effort would it take (can it be done) to convert this .45 to .40? New top end....etc. Do not know much about the inner workings, but I was going to use an STI slide (of course) and a Kart barrel. If this works, do I need a C/P or W/N type barrel? How can I tell? THANKS
  2. Wanted to order a replacement fiber optic front from Dawson. I wad wondering which size....height and with are generally the best compromise? BTW....I do wear contacts so I am thinking the highest and widest? But my STI has what I believe more narrower front? I think my sight picture (for precision) should have gaps on either side of front and rear when alligned. What do you think!
  3. Contemplating an SBR with either an 10 or 12" barrel. Would be loping off an existing stainless barrel. For reliability and functioning, I will be using one of those after market piston kits and was wondering other than looks, does barrel length matter with these kits. Before, someone comments, I know.....the paperwork and $200 stamp. I just would like one PDW.....even though nit select fire....like all the cool kids?
  4. When I had a P16, I ordered replacements from Dawson specifically for higher round count. All were 21s (reloadable) and one was 22 (but not reloadable).
  5. For clarification I sm to order the Black Ice DOH with Adjustable SR Loop and NOT Teklok?
  6. Need advice on a Limited holster for my S_I? As the post topic indicates.....have tried WSM II and Race Master. The WSM did not give me security and difficult to set up. The Race Master that I ordered [edit]...flat did not work at all! [edit] Is there other solutions such as Guga Ribas, Triple Sec....etc. that you are using? The two MOST Important features are draw speed, ease of setup and solidness of gun security. Some have mentioned Blade Tech DOH? With practice....how much time will be lost to draw? I went to their website and was kind of confused specifically which one to order? While we are going there? Looking for an IDPA / Production for an XD Tactical. Blade Tech or Comp Tac. The Comp Tac comes as a Competition pack that seems like a pretty good deal? THANKS in advance!
  7. Sold POS P16 Limited for about that....I guess. The main problem was loose slide to frame fit (right from the start) brand new gun. Gunsmiths hate working on them. And that Glock guy (at all the TX gumshoes) out of Houston f**ked up the mainspring taking off the magwell. The gun was subsequently send to Para (did I mention that Glock guy f**ked it up). When he couldn't get it back together.....something about a bent frame. Para apparently felt the need to hammer on and scratch the frame. Given that gunsmiths don't like to work on them and sending it to Para is always a mistake....you have a decision to make. The plus side is it is easy to get 21 reloadable in the mags. I wish I could say the same for S_I mags? Good Luck!!!!
  8. New Question: XD Tactical vs. M&P Pro both in .40. Other than intisl cost.....which one is better for IDPA and then if I want to use it for USPSA Production. Although it msy not currently be legal for that? You get +3 rounds in the M&P model....not sure if there is many smiths who can prove the trigger on the latter model either?
  9. Maybe I should send my mags to you?
  10. Think I tried both up and down....to no avail. I give another shot this evening and maybe some oil. Unless this thing gets right rather quickly....it is being returned posthaste! I have not the time nor patience for such things....
  11. There's a little button on the back of the holster; some sort of locking thing that slides up and down that is not used during normal use. I'm still not quite sure what it actually does. Try sliding the button down (or up, I can't remember which way to move it) and the pistol should go right in. I had the same problem when I first got my RM and had to play with it a little. Sorry, but I'm at work and don't have the holster or manual in front of me.
  12. Just received mine and wish I could say I was pleased. Don't know if it defective or not, but I can not get my STI past the lock to engage the pistol. How hard can it be to push the triggerguard to engage. Plastic against the aluminum with that much force can not last very long? Is it defective?
  13. Just recieved....mounted on belt an STI for my STI and am thinking I just purchased a $200 POS. I have very little patience for things that frustrate me. Can not get the triggerguard past the catch block. How hard to have to force this.....seems like that much force plastic against aluminum is going to cause me to have to replace my grip sooner. Did I get a manuafactuer's defect or what?
  14. Have a Limited gun for USPSA, but not as many marches as IDPA. Would like to get an XD Tactical for my general carry gun as the STI is not really comfortable due to weight etc. Is the gun legal in IDPA (more matches mean more fun) and was division would it fit into?
  15. Any suggestions on these and a comp?
  16. I was thinking of switching to Open and was wondering if there is anyway to rebarrel my Limited gun to say 38 Super? Can I use my exsting slide and purchase an oversized barrel and have it fitted? I guess I should just contact the guy that everyone mentions in the Houston area to ask? Unless someone knows of a smith in the Dallas area that can do the work?
  17. I am glad I did this....:that SPS Tactical seems to be it!!! THANKS!!!!!
  18. Purchasing a REM 700 .308 as a second gun for big game hunting (deer/hogs) as I don't like to loan my primary gun out...a Stainless Synthetic Rem. 700 in 300 SAUM. This gun will be used by my dad and nephew. I had them try my AR, but the 16" barrel and blast from Cooley comp doesn't suit anyone without hearing protection. Q: I've seen this gun with. 24" gun, but should I get it cut back to say 20" to be more handy. Given that I plan on ultimately upgrading the barrel....would this be a good idea? Assuming it does not come with the Mark X trigger (not sure), what trigger mods could be done to the factory trigger or should I just spend the money for a better trigger. Don't think u want to get a Jewell, but are there cheaper brands that are of decent quality that may be an option? Finally, as I mentioned, gun will be used by nephew (to introduce him to shooting heavier caliber guns and hunting). Is there any reasonably priced ALOP stocks that I may replace the factory synthetic with?
  19. No....the barrel moves back and forward. The slide moves slightly side to side.
  20. Purchased a used STI Edge about a year ago on here. Unfortunately, due to work and personal responsibilities I have shot it very little. It was purchased to replace a POS P-16 Ltd. and I always wanted one with the long/wide dustcover. At the time, I thought I got a good deal and cosmeyicaaly it was as the Seller had indicated. And it shoots and feels waaaaaay better than the Para. It seems to be very much more accurate or maybe more accurate for me to shoot? Now that my admiration for the gun has tamed, I was wondering if there should be front to back play in the barrel at slide lock? It does not move up and down as too as the Para did...but.... Also, the slide as side to side play a little (but noticeable). Is that common or am I looking at a high roung count pistol? I was very pleased initially because there did not seemed to be much barrel wear etc. One more thing.....there seemed to be a gap between where the guise rid area seats in the frame. Is that common? Given I am asking alot of questions and assuming these are not good, what are your suggestions? Send it to a smith to tighten up? Cut the frame and turned it into a 6 in. gun? Or the more expensive option.....go Open with a new topend etc? The only reason I mention this is that I wear contacts (w/stigmatism) and I believe thus limits my ability to be very good with open sights. The optics will help me a better, faster shooter......faster. THANKS!
  21. Sorry....did not.know? Can't see shipping my $280 gun for $$ worth of work and having to pay those relatvely heavy shippinp fees. Besides, I would like to explain in person what I am wanting. I even think I have the blank stock material to provide. THANKS!
  22. I have a fairly new Browning Buckmark that I am wanted to add a full leng underlug/rail under the barrel with maybe machineed for a literail. Does anyone know of one in the Dallas area that has the capability in the DFW area. I want someone who has the ability to machine stainless...etc. and can fit to tite tolerannces. Maybe tap and thread the underside of barrel for attachment. Not such a f**k'n idiot that I'll have to worry about scratching a like new gun or taping through the barrel. I am looking to add a little weight to the end of gun and customize it! Forgive me for the language, but I have had brand new parts scratched severely by the idiots at the now defunked Bass Pro Shop in Grapevine. It is a wonder they closed? THANKS!
  23. I am not sure, but I had such a hard time getting these on the DAA belt that I just took one to HD and kind of matchnthem up with some longer bolts. Now mine are not black (stainless silver color), but it was way easier. Someone needs to tell them to use longer bolts. It is absolutely ridiculous that the Company has not figured that out!!!!! Good Luck!!!!!
  24. All is well....I guess everyone missed the comment about the local gun smith. I guess I need another job orbto jettison the girl friend. Oh well....she bitches too much anyway......THANKS!
