  1. K guys, I was almost exactly the same using the drop-step-push as the crossover and roll. I was a hair faster (.1 or so) using the drop-step-push, but that may be because I work on that style of leaving the most. So from that I think it boils down to body type and preference. In the drop-step-push method, it takes you a little longer to get going, but get going faster. The length it takes for me to get moving is less than most simply because I was blessed with very fast feet. Someone that has slower feet would probably benefit from the crossover and roll more. By and large, I will always use both. What determines which method of exiting I use is the stage at hand, the direction of my movement, the distance to the next position, the difficulty of the shot leaving the position, and the terrain.
  2. Ohhhhh man I know how you feel......
  3. I know you used a video camera, but did you time it? I've learned the hard way that what feels and looks fastest isn't always true. It also largely depends on the final shots you are taking in the position. I always recommend mastering both motions because there are times one is more effective than the other. I'll go ahead and put a stop watch on it later today and post my results.
  4. I've actually never heard of that before.... My first suggestion would be to grip the gun a bit harder. What kind of gun do you shoot? Is there anything unique about the safety that could contribute to the problem?
  5. Ok, but there are other kydex holster manufacturers that make holsters specifically for those models of firearm. Blade-tech, etc. Seeing how those are much cheaper than a CR Speed or Limcat or othe, I'm curious to why soeone would use a more expensive piece of equipment when a cheaper piece of equipment is just as good.
  6. I'm sure you can find an UM or some other kydex holster to fit your SV limited gun. Seeing how pretty much any kydex holster is cheaper than a race holster...and that they "are" the same speed. Why would you use a race holster instead?
  7. for a race holster, I would never use anything but a CR Speed. And I have tried pretty much every product on the market. L2S, If you feel the UM and the race holsters are the exact same for speed, why do you use a race holster when you shoot Open and Limited? (serious question).
  8. Oh you better pray I don't find your squad during the Nationals....
  9. How about you just shoot the classifier faster with fewer points down.
  10. Depends on what your goals are. If this is simply a hobby done only for fun, shoot with your friends...or shoot with the SS and meet new people. If your goal is to get as good as you can be (or become the best), you need to be on the super squad....whatever you have to do. In 5 years from now you will be a product of the people you associate with and the books you read.
  11. Most of the time the "STOP" command is made for safety. Anyone in the crowd could yell stop for example if they saw a person downrange the RO didn't see. I would say reshoot.
  12. Actually if I ever got my hands on a Limited gun, I would have a lot of fun shooting L10. Race rig with 10 rounds is suped-up Production. Sounds like a good time to me.
  13. Is there any idea which matches other than nationals are going to decide the team selection?
  14. XRe, Usually it is 3 GM's in attendence (in your division of course) to count towards your classification.
  15. warlock, And what am I, not worth you coming after?
  16. For the southern states at least....why not use January, February, November, and December? That's a third of the year automatically out.
  17. Lynn, I hope you are just screwing with me....those are the dates for Area 5.
  18. Looking on the USPSA Match Calendar.... There are 11 (only counting what is on that site) major USPSA matches in June.....11.... In August there is 1. Not to mention all the Area matches that are scheduled on the same weekend. Looks like organization is a thing of the past...
  19. To the advice about loading a dummy round in the mag. I would be very careful about doing this because the "push" that you see when the gun doesn't fire is not always a flinch. You have a flinch and then you have compensating for recoil (exerting the force needed to return the gun to your point of aim). The difference in time for these is in the hundreths of seconds. A flinch happens before the gun fires, and compensating for recoil happens after the gun fires. For this reason I would not trust loading dummy rounds into the mag. What I would do to get rid of a flinch: 1) Load up your gun and shoot at the berm as quickly as you can. What ends up happening is you actually cannot flinch as fast as you can shoot. Eventually you will stop and actually start seeing the sights lift. 2) The main thing that causes flinching is the actual sound of the gunshot. Double-plugging (with ear plugs and then muffs) works wonders. 3) The last thing I would do is just load up the gun, point into the target, close your eyes and fire a few rounds. Feel the recoil go through your arms, shoulders, etc. Realize it doesn't hurt and had no adverse effects on you.
  20. Same exact thing happened to me at one of the Ohio sectionals a few years ago, cost me the match. Nothing you can do once the score sheet has been signed...there is no tangible proof that anything wrong happened.
  21. It's amazing how if you have the means, normally you don't have the ability, and if you have the ability you normally don't have the means.
