  1. I totally agree with Chuck's assertation of Stars and Windmills. When a C class shooter can beat 3/4 of the top GM's in the world on a stage....chances are there's something wrong with the stage.
  2. I can't believe the article was actually published in FS. I am actually dumber now for having read it.
  3. If you let a round go while your reloading - no matter where the barrel is pointing - you get DQ'd.
  4. I would definetely do at least half of my reloads with a mag falling out of the gun. It's the only way you get feedback as to the orientation of your gun as your ejecting the mag (making sure it is vertical so there is no excess friction slowing the falling mag down) and just making sure your not drilling habits it than when you actually do a reload you slam the mags into each other....or worse...your index finger between 2 fully loaded mags. Yeah...it hurts.
  5. Ok. I'll do my best to explain it then. Here is the basic thought process behind the goal. Q: What is required to shoot 100 stages in a row without a penalty? A: To be in total control of every single shot you make. If I am in total control of every shot I make, I will shoot consistent, good points, with a time that is based on the natural speed at which I can see the sights.
  6. I'm not even going to talk with someone that hijacks my thread and tells me my goal is flat out wrong.
  7. I really don't know what to say to that.
  8. One question...Why would you ever want to reload blindfolded? Try doing some reloads higher...look at TT's video for a reference to height. I guarantee if you give it an honest run you speed and consistency will improve within a month of dry firing.
  9. It may not be the same thing but I think there are a lot of similarities.. During the major match season, if I am practicing heavily throughout the week, chances are I will not do too well at the match. I have talked about this with Max and come up with that once we get to a certain level in ability, too much practice will make you over confident. If I don't even LOOK at the gun the week before the match, I will usually burn it down. My guess is because you haven't practiced (but you ability level is still there of course) your sub-conscious goes into the mode of "uh oh, I didn't practice....I better REALLY pay attention to the shooting." Might be something similar in there to what your talkin about.
  10. Try shooting Open for half the season if you have the capability. The dot will show you how fast you COULD be going.
  11. Even though there are a lot of make up shots taken....none of the members of the squad are happy that they had to do it. It's simple math. More shots = a higher time.
  12. It is always possible to go faster. The only way you can go faster is you need to turn up the speed of your vision. That or, accept less feed back from your sights before you shoot. And remember, that the vast majority of your speed is NOT in your shooting.
  13. Speed comes from economy of motion. Move only what you have to move as little as you have to move it.
  14. I have literally lost a match by 1 Charlie.
  15. Looking at the video it looks like there's an awful lot of make up shots. There usually aren't as many as it seems....especially when at nationals there were 19 shooters on the Super Squad. I would say though that if a shot is suspected to not be on the target....in any way, it is made up. 2 tenths of a second if nothing compared to a potential miss. I don't think it's being on the ragged edge all the time, I think it is ensuring consistency.
  16. Looks pretty good... I would highly recommend you look the mag in though. It is the only way to be 100% consistent.
  17. I'll look into that. Let me email Travis first to see if he is ok with it.
  18. A match is a match. I don't consider local matches practice because practice by definition is something you repeat over and over again to get better at it. In any match, you have 1 shot at a stage. You can't shoot the stage over and over again to get better.
  19. Yo, I think the mags had 15 rounds in each of them.
  20. You cannot shoot at the top level of the game (especially in Open) and have penalties. Besides, practice is for learning. To win requires shooting the match in total control.
  21. Yeah. Eric shot the WS with 7 D's and no penalties.
  22. Well of course they have to be shot at speed. The goal is always to have the best performance possible. Basically this is an exercise in consistent performance.
  23. Alright, so I set the goal of shooting 100 stages in a row without a penalty. I'm only 11 in so far. I will soon be keeping a running total on my website as well. What I want to know is what you guys think can be done. How many stages can be shot in a row without a penalty?
  24. Tactical. Not sure of the price, I've only played with my buddy's.
