  1. That what it looks like. The different colors indicate the velocity of the air in m/s.
  2. Don't think you looked hard enough. http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/Pro...EWS%2c+SET+OF+4
  3. After watching the trailer again, I kind of think they won't and can't follow the story line from the book. With the book, Borne is an old man, Marie is alive, and he's off chasing after Carlos the Jackal. None of the characters from the movie are around. So who knows what's in this movie.
  4. She died in the movie, but in the Bourne Ultimatum book she's still alive. But it looks like they aren't really following the book because Borne's character is in his 50's.
  5. Even if you have an accurate one doesn't mean you will get the same results at the match. Things like temperature can have a huge effect depending on the powder. This is why most load about 170 pf just to be on the safe side.
  6. Heard a different version of this except it was with a monitor that stopped working. I heard it from a friend who works at EDS doing tech support and supposedly it actually happened with one of their employees.
  7. It's not even April 1st yet. None of it is super secret anymore, just flip on the TV and watch any of the SWAT shows.
  8. I think you'll be more pissed when they raise your rates next year even though it wasn't your fault.
  9. Anyone know what type of ammo works the best for side matches where the goal is to cut a 4x4 post in half? Round nose vs. hollow point, light vs. heavy bullet, etc.? I think the rules state that you have to use the same gun as the IDPA match, so I'll be using a 9mm. This is a team even so there are 3 shooters per team or else we'd be there all day.
  10. I know a guy who just uses his leftover duty ammo usually all mixed together in a coffee can. Some of that 9mm is pretty hot. We chrono'ed some of the hotter ammo he had. I couldn't believe it. He had duty ammo making almost 165 pf.
  11. As they say "Garbage in equals garbage out." Put bad data into the model and you get bad results. The difference between engineers then and now is engineers now heavily rely on computers. We also tend to model things very accurately. The "old timers', lol, tend to simplify the model. When we submit stuff for PMA approval with the FAA, we don't use fancy finite element analysis for structural. Nope, all we do is simplify the model as much as possible to fit it into one of the formula someone has developed for aerospace back in the 1950's or even Roark's Formula. One main reason I gave up is because it was also taking way too long. I have a P4 3.4EE doing the modeling and it was taking about 6-10 hours to run a model if there are no errors. My computer didn't like running at 100% capacity for a few days straight.
  12. I've looked into this myself and it ended up being too much work to do it for fun. Part of the problem is you can't just use the chamber pressure. You can have two loads with identical chamber pressure but if you have one with a peak pressure early on, it won't be as effective in working the comp vs. one with a pressure peak later on. The other major problem I ran into was you do have to model the bullet as it travels through the comp. The gases coming out of the barrel behaves differently when trailing a bullet. This is where it gets really complicated in setting up a model. Most CFD programs won't handle modeling air flow AND a physical part moving within the model. I couldn't get enough info from my prof. to really figure out how to model a comp. You will need to find someone that specializes in exterior ballisitics and pick their brains.
  13. I'm still asking that first question myself, I have no clue where my tungsten guide rod went.

    Flex Says...

Does Flex have telekinesis? I developed a toothache also. I really hate seeing a dentist.
  15. The only reason the French would send guys to capture the guy is because they used up all their white flags and needed to borrow one.
  16. Welcome to the club. I DQ myself at a major IDPA match last year with about 3 targets left in the entire match. Screwed up a reload, hit the slide release and the thumb continued and hit the trigger too setting off a round. Unload and show clear, SO and ASO both came up and wonder WTF I was doing. Even the peanut gallery didn't know why I stopped myself.
  17. When I was still loading 45's, Win primers with Win brass required a LOT of force to seat correctly. I switched to using Starline brass and everything was fine.
  18. You have to pedal backwards faster than the wheel is moving due to the ratchet in the rear hub preventing the wheel from turning backwards. As for jumping across gaps on the rear wheel, it's a maneuver called pedal kick. It's one of the key fundamental movements in trials. One that I almost got a hang of before I quit riding and got rid of my mod trials bike. Pedal kick is one of the hardest things to learn. Basically, you lock the rear wheel, lean really far back to get to the balance point and start hopping on the rear wheel. Then let the front wheel drop a little, let go of the rear brake, give a quick kick with the pedal, while shifting your weight forward and up, all this in a few milliseconds of each other. Of course it's easier said than done.
  19. Not fake. I have a bunch of VHS tapes of trials riding and Hans Rey. The most impressive move I've ever seen was Hans on a nose wheelie going backwards down a hill in San Francisco while his friend was also doing a nose wheelie right in front of him. Doing a nose wheelie going down hill isn't hard since it's all front brake modulation to stay near the balance point. Back wheel starts to drop, just apply more front brake. Back end gets too high, just ease off on the front brake. Going backwards is nearly impossible. Most people aren't used to being on the wrong side of the balance point.
  20. I've clipped my skyscreen a few times when I first started shooting. Slapped the trigger too hard and pull the gun to the left. Now I just leave the skyscreens completely off the chrono. It's caused me more errors than they are worth. Plus with no skyscreen, you have to be really careful where you are aiming.
  21. I just paid $3.29 per gal for premium to fill up my car tonight. I really should be driving closer to the speed limit since my normal 20+ over the speed limit results in about 20% more fuel usage. At least I'm no longer commuting 150 miles a day and having to get gas every other day.
  22. Here's a video of the pioneer of Obserbed Trials, Ot Pi. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BgV2xIPreg Ot Pi and Hans Rey pretty much put observed trials on the map. I got into trials thing for a while, but the lack of balls to go off of high objects kind of limits you on what you can do. Plus it's really fustrating to master all the rear wheel moves since everything revolves around getting on the back wheel and doing pedal kicks.
  23. All the old stuff is still there. You can set the camera to manual mode and do everything yourself. But the geeky part of digital photgraphy can't be avoided. Nikon and Canon both process the data a little differently, kind of like different film gives different color results, except it's now with the camera system. You no longer have a lab technician to tweak your pictures, so now YOU get to spend hours and hours figuring out how to use Photoshop. There's one other thing with lens to further complicate things. Nikon uses a 1.5x crop factor so a 50mm lens is really 75mm due to the smaller sensor size. Canon has a fullframe, 1.1x, 1.3x, and 1.6x depending on which model you buy.
