The best client is the one that just sends the gun in with a work order and no phone calls or e-mails. This client will go to the front of the list, the one who calls and e-mails excessively keeps getting put further back on the list. Rich

Looking at the magwell may not be the way to loose the weight. What type of grip panels do you have? Does your frame have a full cut out under the grip panels? Barrel can be fluted, under cut the trigger guard, re contour the grip safety, lighten the main spring housing, and then there is the slide that can loose some weight. Just a thought or two. Rich

The novak cut can be converted to a bo-mar style sight, I make a modified sight base that will work. I have bases made for the fixed and adjustable novak cut. Rich

Finishing up 2- 9x23 commander length widebodies with single port comp, fronts came in at .155 with bo-mar style rear sights. Front sights are in the slide not out on the comp. Rich

That trigger shoe was put on the HC trigger bow(Caspian may do it for you), you can have an SV ITS trigger shoe put on the bow also, I've done quite a few of them. Rich

The gun your looking at has a round trigger guard, serrated front and back straps, the magwell opening is narrower/ it uses full length grips, the beavertail isn't under cut and swept up as much as a Ltd, there is no pin to keep the hammer pin captive(Ltd is a solid pin and the other is a roll pin), and the dust cover isn't full length. That should be all of the differences between the two. Rich

No Reason to change any of the parts, the mim parts Springfield uses are better quality than most. If something breaks in the first 500 I would be surprised. Rich

You might look at the Nosler bullets, I've always got good results from them. I use them when I Ransom rest guns. Rich

The Caspian frame is legal for Limited as are 6" slides and barrels so it would be Limited legal as shown in the picture from CZ. Now if they create a new component that hasn't been made before than the 500 rule will apply. Rich

There are some gunsmiths that have SV frames available for custom builds if you want it built on an SV frame. Rich

If you want it HC, it will have to be plated first. HC on AL without plating will peel off. Rich

Yep, just erase the rule and let everything go. When a truly advantageous gun does comes along and the maker only lets their people to use it to collect HOA's and first in class trinkets for a few years or worse makes a shooter pay out the nose to have one. The roar for quantity limits be brought back will be louder than a 9x25 in full auto. The 500 rule has a purpose and has had questionable application, don't get ride of it, get it applied correctly. Get the BOD to look into it or better yet get your favored manufacture to build 500 of everything and anything. Rich

The maximum length for XD small frame guns is 1.150, too small for the 38 super. You would have to go with the .45 acp framed guns to do, the breech face would have to be reduced to handle the smaller case dia. and the firing pin dia. would probably have to be reduced. Then get someone to make a barrel and don't forget to modify .45 mags to handle 38 super. It can be done, do you have the time and money to do it. Rich

The Canyon Creek 140mm base pad kit will get you 23+1 rounds of 9mm. Rich

These are the tubes Freddie Craig had made, Gen 1 tubes just weren't that great, the Gen 2 tubes weren't much better, but the Gen 3 tubes you could get them to run pretty good with some work. Now there are a few 1's and 2's that ran perfect with no problems but they are the exception. Rich

Removing any safeties is not legal for Production and it isn't wise to remove the firing pin safety block on the XD/m's. A short and light trigger pull can be obtained with all safeties intact by the right gunsmith. If the trigger is the one I've seen with the bump on the back it's a Springfield OEM part from what I understand made by PRP. Rich

Jason, The Caspian tube in 40 with Henning Wallgren's base pad and Gram's spring and follower will hold 21 rounds(it will fit in the gauge). If you have a bad resizing die capacity will drop to 20, it's best to use a Lee U die or some sort of a case sizing machine to insure the 21 round capacity. Factory ammo will easily load to 21 also. Like with any new spring once it takes a set the 21st round will go in easy and it is reloadable. If your going to use 9mm the original Caspian mags will be the best option, as mentioned to get a 170mm it will be a weld up. There are a number of us that weld them up. The new Caspian/Tanfoglio tubes are my choice for 9x23 and 38 super/c, again a weld up for the 170mm length and for 140mm the Wallgren base pad set up. As for the frame mod to use SV mags it just isn't worth the time/money, the Caspian/Tanfoglio mags are much cheaper in cost. The other issue that I see is the frame is weakened, too thin in the trigger bow track. When using SV mags a larger trigger bow has to be used. I use SV trigger shoe bases with Caspian trigger bows to get the ITS trigger capability. Rich
