  1. I'm building 2 Commander length 9x23's on a high cap frames and a single carry comp, they are fun to shoot. Rich
  2. The "Was" is how many years and how many Championships while shooting a Para? He has a few more wins left in him shooting his own brand of guns and it will be fun watching him do it. Rich
  3. Buying a gun just because you see everyone else has one isn't the best advice, if a gun doesn't fit and feel right to "you" the shooter don't force yourself to live with it. If you like the para style frame find a Springfield forged frame and build what you want and need. It's amazing to here people say "This gun feels so good but I'll stick to what I have." after they pick up a Tanfoglio gun. There isn't one brand of production line gun that is perfect for everyone, they all can be modified to be better. My personal opinion on Para is that they are too soft when it comes to their metal on all of their parts, but there has been several folks who have good success with them. There is one guy who seemed to build his shooting career on using a Para, I don't think Todd suffered all those years with an inferior product just to have a sponsorship. Rich
  4. "For an XD to run reliably at 3#, you must be reloading and only using Federal primers. if this is so, let me know and i will detail how to get down to 3#." I set up XD/m's all the time at 2# trigger pull and it doesn't require Federal primers. My personal Competition XD runs only small rifle primers and it's set at 2.25# with over 45k rounds fired. If you switch to a lighter firing pin spring then Federal primers are needed, the stock firing pin spring will handle small rifle primers with no problems. Rich
  5. Right now there is free shipping through the store, you just have to keep an eye out for sales at the web store. At $12.00 you are getting what you pay for, lower capacity and a base pad that doesn't last as long as a higher quality aluminum one. Rich
  6. The Canyon Creek 140mm base pads will hold more rounds and are made out of aluminum. You can get them for all of the XD/m models, the kit comes with Gram's spring and follower. Rich
  7. You probably don't see them since they have only sold over a million of them in 7 years, in another year or two they will be at 2 million. Also since competition shooters are only 1/2 of one percent of all gun owners it will only take time for the XD to be the top gun. Rich
  8. yes i had 1 case failure very recently. first one ever. There's the answer, you need a new one. Rich
  9. The red color comes from the heat treat process. Have you had a case failure? Case failure would be my first thought if it has lost that much tension. You can bend for more tension but that's only going to last for just a short while. A new one would be the best solution. Rich The other poster who said main spring is meaning to say sear spring.
  10. Take one of those pieces of brass and reload it, you might just be surprised. I've load brass cases that have been deformed worse than your pictures and had zero problems. Rich
  11. Since this is in the CZ section I'll be nice, the Tanfoglio is an improvement over the CZ design. The LTD has a bo-mar style rear sight and a unique/clean front sight. The checkering on both the front and back strap is very useful but if you want a smaller grip it can be sanded down easily. The beaver tail is cut and blended higher than the TS. The trigger on any factory gun can be improved, Henning and EGW has top quality fire control parts. You can shoot jacketed/plated and lead through the factory barrels and they are extremely accurate. Tanfoglio has fixed the slide stop pin issue and EGW has a non levered pin that is of good quality. The frame is drilled and tapped if one was to want a scope or add another top end to shoot Open. The LTD is easily tuned for ones desired shoot ability. There is alot more after market parts available to customize one if you so desire. Todays Tan. is an improvement over the days of the P-9 small frame. I maybe slightly biased towards the Tan. since I work on them quite often, if the 1911 wasn't around I would be shooting the Tan. and of course the XD/m to. Rich
  12. There's 5 or 6 that are going to auctioned off but they are all short barreled guns. Rich
  13. Once you have looked at both side by side you will understand why the SV grip costs more and why it will out last the STI. STI rushed to get a metal grip frame out to the market place, SV spent money and time(years) before they released one. I don't see why anyone would want an alum. grip to begin with, they don't weigh enough and alum. isn't durable enough for the application. Just look at an alum. mag well after it has been used, that is what the grip will look like. You can only sand and polish it down so many times before it won't be useful. Look at how so many break a polymer grip and then one expects an alum. one to last longer. Carbon or stainless steel is the way to go. Rich
  14. I would recommend looking at the Pistol Gear Match fit barrels for the XD's. I've installed all that are available and the PG barrels come out on top in all areas. Rich
  15. Field, Send it to a gunsmith and have a custom made front sight, the Warren XD rear sight uses the stock front sight height of .160. Which rear Warren are you using that it requires a .215 front? Rich
  16. Gunsmith trigger job, sights, extended mag release, tungsten insert/guide rod, grip wrap/traction treatment, barrel refit/aftermarket match barrel. All of these mods are Production legal. Are they needed, that is up to you to decide. Rich
  17. When it malfunctions it's time to clean it. Rich
  18. A trigger job done by a gunsmith will yield the best results and the optimum trigger. Rich
  19. He already has a 38S so he has a large frame, 38S do not come in the small frame. Rich
  20. I don't care about the price difference I will always use Vit, Vit powder does it better in all aspects. Rich
  21. And that is just the fact that glocks do break now and then. Rich
  22. I own an XDM in 9mm. I'm just starting out. What mods are you talking about (just so I have an idea of what's to come)? Care to elaborate? Trigger job, low mount adjustable rear sight, extended release, traction treatment on the grip area, refit barrel, tungsten guide rod, frame to slide fitting, that should about cover Production Division. Now for Limited there's another list of modifications. Rich

The Lim Cat is a small diameter firing pin, there are a couple of companies that use a small diameter for their 45 slides you will have to check to see what you have. Rich
  24. "The world shoot limited winners have all won with a heavy 2011 to my knowledge." Whoops You better do a little research on that statement, I know of one time a 2011 won the World Shoot in Standard. Current champ used a Caspian and before that a Springfield. One fact that most don't mention is a 2011 has never won the World Shoot in Open, all have been done with metal framed guns. Tanfoglio, Para, Caspian, P-9, and 1911 single stacks.

The Lim Cat XL firing pin is the only FP I use in the shop. It will give positive ignition with any primer and will keep the FP hole clear from any primer flow. Rich
