  1. How many people do we need on a list to get them to bring the topic back to the table? I responded to an interest email from Bill, but I'm sure I could get several other local guys to commit. Some of them were going with me to Pappys when that was running. We really need someone to start one up.
  2. Funny, I've seen several references to Pro filling and AM being open last year in this thread. I found out about this match very late last year (late July) and wanted to shoot AM, but ended up having to shoot Pro because I was told AM was full.
  3. I have a similar 1911, a stock Springfield Loaded except for Dawson FO front sight, you're welcome to borrow it for as long as you need if you can get here to it. I don't know when the match is, but I'll be coming to AL for a match in a month and could probably get it close.
  4. Have you tried to contact DAA?
  5. Call him up, I've done it several times on other sites when the website-generated shipping was unreasonable. He's a good guy, I'll bet he works with you.
  6. I've used the Surefire app for dry fire for a while, but it won't run anymore.
  7. +1 on those, but do they make them for the Glock Mags? http://shootersconnectionstore.com/Dawson-Grip-Tape-for-Glock-Basepads-P2155.aspx
  8. Change my vote from a "nay" to a "yea". I cleaned my fairly low-mileage SLP today and found the spring was broken in two places, although it's still running perfectly. Now I have to decide if I want to get it fixed or just go ahead and have it sealed. Any new options out there?
  9. I found a good resource here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_battery_sizes It looks like my best option may be to use something like an SR52 that cuts the voltage in half, and make a metal spacer around it.
  10. Does the loctite not soften when firing? The chamber area absorbs a lot of heat.
  11. I took a carbine class with my CTR02 with a Tac30 last weekend. I've had this scope since just after they came out, and pretty much quit using the illumination for daytime shooting after the first range trip, I prefer the black reticle. When shooting in low light, though, the illumination is necessary. The problem I had is that, even at the lowest setting, the reticle was washing out the whole target. I know people stack batteries in some scopes to increase brightness, is there any way to do the opposite? A similar sized battery with lower output maybe?
  12. You didn't go wrong. I shot a carbine class with my CTR02 last weekend, mostly because I wanted to see how it would do hot and dirty. I ended up shooting around 800 rounds, and it was used as a range gun to clear instructor-induced malfunctions by the whole class, so it had at least 1000 total. I didn't relube, and the only stoppage not created by the instructors was my fault, I was shooting weak handed from behind a barricade and managed to cover the ejection port.
  13. My shooting partner bought a DPMS, it was a 24" heavy barreled model that didn't shoot much better than that. He put a Lilja midweight 20" barrel on it, it shoots amazingly well now (and I'm hard to please) and the handling is night and day better. We frequently shoot it to 1000+.
  14. I don't like that it's giving DA/SA an advantage. Also don't like that this came out just months after I sent my XDM to Canyon Creek for his 2.5+ lb trigger, guess I'll be spending more money chasing the rules. Or not. For what it's worth, I carry the XDM. I've never left it home because of the trigger, but a smaller pistol is more practical except during the 4 weeks we can wear a coat here.
  15. Can't win 'em all. I left the .260 in the safe today and took the .308 out today for the first time in 2 years, getting ready for a match in February. We were holding a mil of wind at 500, I was missing those 6.5mm VLD's for sure!
  16. Looks ok, I guess. (Jealous? Naaah!, not me!)
  17. The rifle I'm running now has side charging handles on both sides. Having a right side handle isn't very beneficial IMO for this type of rifle, although it may work for a precision rifle. If you want a side charger, get it on the left.
  18. 120 - 140gr bullet out of a 8 or 8.5 twist. I'm running 130 Bergers out of a 8.5 Kreiger, it stabilizes 139 Lapuas and 140 VLDs just fine.
  19. I started competing in precision rifle, worked my way to pistols and now shoot as much 3 gun as I can find. I really enjoy running the carbine the most, followed closely by pistol and precision rifle. Shotgun is still a step down from everything else, it's fun but I'd rather be shooting a rifle or pistol.
  20. Sorry, I'm no help, but here's a video to help you feel better.
  21. This thread is 3 years old, I'm sure he has some by now.
