  1. Do tell... [edit: in a dedicated new thread for rifle shooting]
  2. I've had this problem with my Lee .223 die. Chuck the decapping pin into a drill press and polish it with some very fine sandpaper, and make the upper taper that expands the case neck more gradual. Then, rough up the stem that clamps into the die with some coarse emery cloth so it will get better traction. It fixed mine. eta: Scratch that, I didn't read well. I thought you were pulling the entire stem out, not just the pin. I've not had that problem.
  3. Another vote for Redding dies. I use an S type full length sizing die, and just barely bump the shoulder each time. I used Lee dies first, and found that the expander ball affected the brass. The neck in the die was too tight, to compensate for very thin brass, and when the expander opened it back up it would pull the neck forward a little. To compensate for that, I would have to bump the shoulder back a little further. To make a long story short, when I figured out what was going on I went to bushing dies to get the proper neck tension without needing an expanding ball, and the difference on paper was distinct. I use a Redding competition seater, but it's overkill for my use since I typically set up for one bullet and stick to it.
