I was getting ready to disagree with you about poppers measuring power but when I went to quote the rule, you were right. Mark today on your calendar.

One ofr the things I like about the USPSA rules are that they are clear and don't create the possibility for borderline DQ-able offenses. Either an action is a DQ-able offense or it isn't. Along the lines of what Poppa Bear posted, I do try to keep shooters from DQing themselves as long as it is outside the COF and doesn't provide one an advantage not afforded another. As an example, if a shooter comes to the line and in the confusion of activities starts to reach for his gun, if the range is clear and it is OK to make ready, I will say Make Ready before they have a chance to draw their gun and DQ themselves. Afterwards I will warn them about what almost happened but I won't watch and wait for someone to commit an offense if it can be avoided.

I've also broken two on the right side. I never considered that it may have been an issue related to the holster, though. Thanks!

I have had light strikes on several of my M&Ps. After I have switched allof them to extra power striker springs I have had ZERO light strikes. With the Apex sears I don't notice the extra power striker springs.

Because our bays are relatively short (50 and 100 yards) we usually start with the rifle so we can get some distance shots in before having them move forward and transitioning to other guns. A couple of things I consider to be good safety practices: If the pistol is to be holstered and is not the first gun used, it may have a full mag inserted but needs to have the hammer forward on an empty chamber I prefer to usually stage guns with empty chanbers Drop boxes/barrels go at the right or left edge of the shooting area and are pointed at the side berm just shy of the 180 No one (other than the shooter and ROs) go downrange of a staged or abandoned gun until it has been cleared by an RO To speed things, because we have our long guns abandoned pointing toward the berm, we have an RO inspect the abandoned gun while the shooter and other ROs are still finishing the stage. If it was abandoned in an unsafe condition, that RO stays there until the shooter and CRO come back to that gun for the DQ. If it was abandaoned in a safe condition, the RO clears it and carries it back to the rack and the resetting of the stage proceeds. If we have a missed target that we think the shooter may try to return to, we keep everyone all of the way back until the shooter is done.

The fact that they go after the expensive luggage confirms my reasoning that I continue to use an old, beat up suitcase that has a large tear in it as well as an exterior compartment zipper missing. It is unlikely that anyone would look twice at it...unless they happened to see the scan of it as it went ythrough TSA. I also do not put any external locks on the suitecase.

It occurred to me as being much more appropriate in an IDPA-style match where we did require that targets be engaged "as" they became available. In the future, I will use: "Engage targets from where they are available within the designated shooting area."

I got to thinking about this common wording (I have used it myself). It is not unusual to see "Engage targets as they become available" in the WSB. This implies that I could be assessed a PE if I do not engage a target when it becomes available but rather wait until I reach a different spot to engage it. Thoughts? I know that I won't include that phrase anymore.

Youre interpretation of Should is correct. It is not the same as Will or Shall. If the RO skips the Standby command, I would not go and ask them if they could please present the commands in their correct order. If I am waiting for more than 5-8 seconds, I will turn and ask the RO if there is a problem with the timer. Now, If I see a shooter start to lean or creep, I will wait until they fall over to start the timer.

How do your 15 round mags keep you from inserting the "normal" 17 rounds of 9mm? Is the folower different or do they have an indentation like some other artificially limited mags?

That FlexMonkey's a purty good feller, hain't he? A view from farther to the side would be more helpful but it looked like pretty good shooting to me. When you bring up the pistol, do you extend then raise the pistol up to align the sights or do you raise it first then push it out as you align the sights (or were you already extended at the low ready)?

Not sure about the followers. My experience with the newer finish on the mags is that they are less likely to rust than the originals.

Forgot to add that the fees are $10 for Pinetucky members and active miltary and $20 for non-members.

Bill, i sent you an email but it is too late for us to get stage changes approved for this weekend. I wouldlike to talk to you about using some of that for the matches June 16th, September 15th, and November 24th, though. Oh, and about the fact that we are only having 3 rather long stages...We are working on getting more bays built but at the moment our facility limits us to those 3. The last 3 gun match we did had 2 more short stages but ran much later than expected. This one we will be breaking up into 3 squads and plan to finish earlier. We have not made arrangements for food so bring something if you want to eat before we finish. The rifle and pistol bays are next to each other and gear can easily be carried to each. The shotgun fields are up the hill and a short walk but you can drive up there is you so desire.

Sorry, was out of town and touch for a couple days. Registration starts at 8:15, Safety briefing at 8:45, Start shooting just after 9. I don't have detailed stage drawings suitable for posting, but: Stage 1 is on the rifle range, 34 rounds rife (17 if they are all As/Bs), 24 rounds pistol (12 if they...) 15 steel plates Stage 2 is on the pistol range, 36 rounds rifle (18 if...), 34 rounds pistol (17...) 12 steel plates Stage 3 will be on two adjacent trap & skeet fields 14 steel plates 6 flying clays. From each of the center positions on the trap/skeet fields you will have controls for the skeet and trap launchers. You choose which buttons to hit in what order. You could throw the trap and a double at the same time or you could do each of the high house, low house, and trap separately. So, at a minimum, bring 100 rounds of rifle, 100 rounds pistol, and 75 rounds of birdshot (7.5 or smaller/higher number). No steel rifle targets this time so you can use your steel core ammo if you want to burn it up. IMG scoring (basically 1 A/B or 2 anywhere on paper, steel must fall, and flying clays will be counted as bonus (but you can only launch 3 frm each of the two stations). We're still doing the math but each flying clay will likely be 5 seconds off your time. All courses of fire will have a 180 second time limit. Unless otherwise specified, all brown full-size USPSA targets will be engaged with handgun only, all white ¼ size USPSA targets will be engaged with rifle only, all orange 4” square steel targets will be engaged with shotgun only, and all red full-zise USPSA targets will be NoShoots. There will only be 2 divisions: Tactical Optics and Tactical Irons. Unmagnified optics (dot-type) can run in the Tactical Irons division. There are no magazine capacity restrictions Because all of the stages are going to be rather involved, we will need everyone’s help resetting the stages. There will be no collecting of brass until after the match is over and all of the props are put away. While we will not dictate shooting positions, it may be to your advantage to shoot from a prone or kneeling position at times. Dress accordingly.
