Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. That RMR looks awesome on the M&P I was thinking about doing that to mine, but just wish it didn't involve the machining work, it just seems really permenant if you don't end up liking it!
  2. Does that carbon arms handguard ever give you trouble with it being too slippery?
  3. Does the pigtail soften the recoil when installed on a carbine length system? Brownells makes it seem like its for solving FTF problems
  4. Hey all, I'm trying to get a new AR build off the ground right now once I can get rid of a few things. The problem I see now is trying to source decent parts that aren't on back order or crazy lead times. Am I better off just buying a fully build rifle on somewhere like gun broker and then modifying it, or go with the piece built rifle. I would hate to buy something fully built and then rip the hand guard off just to replace it with a nice JP guard! Pat
  5. Should also ask, is there any other distributor of their barrels, or do they only sell direct?
  6. What are their barrel lead times running right now? I'm looking to start a rifle build shortly and I was really hoping to use a barrel from them.
  7. Been working out about 3-4 times a week at a crossfit gym for about a year now and its still one of the best things that I could have done to get back into shape, for those who say "you'll hurt yourself" they're just afraid of a little pain!
  8. Not sure if anyone realizes but Dave Castro who is the programing guru / 2nd face of Crossfit (second only to Coach Glassman) is an avid USPSA shooter and actually combines the two on the Crossfit journal and looks like he works with Dave Re on a bunch of articles and videos. http://journal.crossfit.com/2011/10/calishooting.tpl He's a good shot for being as busy as he must be. If you've seen some of the journal videos he organizes a lot of the pros events for Crossfit and is known for his twisted and painful workouts. PD
  9. Funny you just mentioned that cause I was just browsing the TF website and didn't even realize the smaller base pads don't increase the capacity. I do like the limited 140mm brass extensions which would look awesome but it probably would be a big waste of $$ in the long run.....damned reasoning....always gets the best of me!
  10. Ok so here's my next brainstorming idea I attached a picture of the TF brass base pad so it looks like the extension has a hollow well (obviously where the extra rounds sit) So my question is, what if I used a two part epoxy and filled that well up and then used my stock springs for my 15 round mags? I know its like putting a Toyota sticker on a Ferrari but I think it would work, but its hard to tell cause I don't own any of the extensions but I'm contemplating buying one and seeing if it will run! What do you think? Pat
  11. So any update to this thread if anyone is still checking it On a recent practice session at the range I had the same issues occur as when this started to occur. It seemed like two of the mags I had were worse than others, they would release from the notch when I hit the mag release and then get completely hung up in the well. Well the other night I went to town on cleaning the gun, completely disassembled it and threw it through a few ultrasonic cleaning cycles which was awesome, got everything back to factory clean. Re-assembled and loaded some dummy rounds in the notorious mags and again same thing. So I took some really fine sand paper (somewhere around 1000-2000 grit autobody stuff) and went in a spent some time sanding the spot that seemed like it was getting hung up on. The fine sandpaper actually smoothed and buffed the spot, and again tried the dummy rounds (which expanded the magazine, which was causing the hold up, with less the 3 or 4 rounds it dropped free) and finally it started to drop freely. It took quite a bit of sanding and buffing to get this problem solved but thank good this seems to be solved! (I hope) Pat
  12. What S&W did to solve this stupid law was a longer spring length so its the same exact magazine body that the regular mags use but (unlike Commi-fornia, who have the plastic extension) they simply run it with a longer spring so if you take a spring from a normal 17 round mag you could make the 15 rounders illegal in NJ but apparently that is a permanent fix for NJ standards.....stupid politicians! Pat
  13. So to start of I live in NJ and of course in our socialist state we can't have over 15 round magazines. (could be worse, I could live in California!) I want to try out the SSS magwell for my M&P 9mm Pro but it only works in conjunction with the extended Taylor Freelance base pads. But obviously the reason for extended base pads other than the weight and awesome cool look, is you increase the magazine capacity, to 5 rounds or more. So is there anyway I can run the extended pads without increasing the capacity?? Are there longer springs out there so it impedes the overall capacity? Pat AIR POWER!
  14. Or you should get yourself a setup like this! Tek-lok clips with some custom molded pouches The tek-loks are really nice cause you can mount them anywhich way you want and those babies don't more for anything!! PatUSAF
  15. what are the disadvantages/problems with pressing the bullet to a shorter OAL? Say I seated it at 1.14 as compared to SAMMI minimum dimensions, would the smaller round have feeding problems or extracting problems? I have heard how the longer the round the better the accuracy, is this because it has less distance to be pushed out of the case? Enlighten me! Pat
