  1. For the same reason I made the long range steel double penalty. If a shot is difficult and a hit (or miss) is worth enough, people won't as easily accept a quick miss but rather will make an honest attempt at hitting it. As it was, even with a double penalty, for 32 shooters going at 3 targets each, so 96 targets, we still had 17 misses (only one non A/B) and 9 complete misses (no hits at all).
  2. Visit? Hell, I might move for that! No trips currently scheduled. There was one engagement with the city but someone else got to go. In other news, I picked up another FZ1. What / how many are you riding, now?
  3. When? Just a thought and I don't know if it will work for your arrangement but our setup for our IDPA matches is to layout 3 or 4 parallel stages and break into 2 or 3 squads. We have one shooter from squad one shoot stage 1, then one shooter from squad 2 shoot stage 2, then a shooter from 3 shoot 3. After that we all go forward to score, paste, and reset all of the stages at the same time. If you have room for parallel courses of fire that helps to get more shooters through in a shorter time.
  4. Cool! Is it always the 4th Saturday? I would love to come down but that is the same day as our monthly USPSA match. Can I add that (and any others) to: http://csrapistol.com/Matches.htm ?
  5. Is that the one right after "Look and make sexy"?
  6. Results posted: http://csrapistol.com/MultiGun/Pinetucky_3gun_091512.htm Thanks to everyone for coming out. We're still learning and made a few more mistakes to add to our "Don't do that $#!^ again" list: Two stages on the rifle range was too much. Unless we get more bays built before the next match (Saturday after Thanksgiving) it will be 2 big, all-3 gun stages on the rifle and pistol ranges with 1 or two shotgun only stages. Many newer competitors timed out because it took them too long to reload the shotgun on Stage 2. I'll consider having less reloads on all-3 gun stages next time. Too many bonus targets on the shotgun only stage resulted in that one stage affecting the match outcome more than it should have. Too long without lunch plans. In the future if we can expect that we will go past 2:00 we will make arrangements for lunch. Any other comments or suggestions are welcome.
  7. You got one of the water cooler guns that all of the guys there used to shoot the shit.
  8. Thanks, guys...I think I will leave out the re-enagement. 75...poppers aren't an option, these have to be paper with the slugs but that does give me some other evil ideas...thanks!
  9. I have a stage we are doing this weekend that starts with at least 3 slugs at full-size USPSA targets at 40 yards. The shooter abandons the shotgun, picks up the rifle and moves forward to engage 18 1/4 size rifle targets and 18 full size pistol targets. Using IMG scoring i am doubling the penalties for the 3 slug targets to be 10 seconds for only 1 non A/B hit and 20 seconds for no hits. I am considering letting them re-engage the slug targets with rifle or pistol but requiring that they do so with an A head shot only. They will only get within 15 yards of the slug targets with rifle and/or pistol. What do you guys think? Worth doing? Too complicated? Decreases the need to be accurate with slugs?
  10. I've never used small rifle primers in pistol loads but I have had light strike in most of my M&Ps. I now run extra power striker springs in all of my M&P and have had 0 light strikes since. With the Apex sear, I don't notice the extra power striker spring.
  11. I am so tickled with the Apex sears I see no reason to try to do anything more to them. What more are you trying to get out of it?
  12. He was not offered a reshoot...he claimed he should have been offered one because the RO interfered.
  13. LOL @ Lee. If you didn't have 3lbs basepads it wouldn't have activated...
  14. I am patiently waiting for the demand to be filled and the price to come down.
  15. It didn't make it to an arb committee but the RM was called when a shooter requested a reshoot for RO interference that wasn't offered by the RO the one time I went to the nationals. He was granted the reshoot. Said shooter realized he had screwed up the stage (multiple misses if I recall correctly). When he finished near the middle of the COF he stopped and pulled the mag most of the way out of the pistol. The RO got close and said IYAFULASC. At this point he slammed the mag back in and ran backward to the far left corner of the shooting area to "look at a target he might have missed", leaving the RO downrange. The RO yelled something like, "Hey, get back here!" He claimed that interfered with his run. This was several seconds after he had quit shooting and started to unload. No GM is going to decide 5 seconds later to go make up a target. He waited till after all the targets were scored before requesting a reshoot for interference. Funny thing was he tried the same thing 3 or 4 stages later and the RO merely backed up and waited for him to quit looking like a dork before she again said IYAFULASC. That has been the only obvious case of cheating that I have seen and I still get pissed when I think about it.
  16. ...and from Appendix A3: Based on that I would propose that an RO getting downrange of a competitor is the ROs fault and he should offer a reshoot, BUT...if the competitor sweeps the RO with his gun, I feel that is the fault of the competitor. Even though I realize that DQ could likely be overturned if arbitrated, I would still issue it and let the RM / arb committee argue the discrepancy in the wording of 10.5.5 and the definition of sweeping in Appendix A3. Since DQs have to be supported by rule, what "rule" would you cite? Exactly...but I thought I was already clear on that by quoting the rules.
  17. Discrepancy here: ...and from Appendix A3: Based on that I would propose that an RO getting downrange of a competitor is the ROs fault and he should offer a reshoot, BUT...if the competitor sweeps the RO with his gun, I feel that is the fault of the competitor. Even though I realize that DQ could likely be overturned if arbitrated, I would still issue it and let the RM / arb committee argue the discrepancy in the wording of 10.5.5 and the definition of sweeping in Appendix A3.
  18. 4 stages. Stage 1: 6 hits on swinging steel at 100 yards, 1 from each of 6 positions on/through barricade. Stage 2: 18 or 36 rifle (1AB or 2 anywhere), 16 bird shot, and 18/36 pistol Stage 3: 3 or 6 slugs at 40 yards, 18/36 rounds rifle, and 18/36 pistol Stage 4: 20 rounds bird shot Recommend bringing 100-150 rounds of rifle, 100-150 of pistol, 50-75 of birdshot, and 10-15 slugs. Sign up at 8:30, shooters meeting at 8:45, start shooting at 9, and hope to finish between 2 and 3. $10 for Pinetucky members and active military, $20 for non-members.
  19. I am more than a little upset that you didn't hold an umbrella when I shot with you!
  20. I ran a case (2500?) of MG 180gr JHPs through my Pro with zero issues.
  21. You guys have some nice looking bikes! Almost makes me ashamed to show mine. Cool! Can I ride it? I don't crash any more. lol... your persistent. Maybe i'll pick up drinking and maybe get drunk enough to think you on my bike would be a good idea Mike. Maybe. Well, NickO picked up drinking and let me ride his R1. I was surprised it didn't want to wheelie as easy as my FZ1 but that thing does get downright scarey above 10K. Oh, and Fleshmonkey, since you let me ride your KLR when I was up there, if you ever get down this way you are welcome to ride Nick's R1.
  22. Out of curiousity....what kind of gun was it?
  23. If you look closely at the rearward face of the stock sear on an M&P, it does angle backward a bit so that when the trigger is pulled it does cock the striker back slightly.
  24. Can you guys post those or send then to me, too? i have been using my own but it has been confusing too many people.
