Where are your matches? if in SC it likely wouldn't be much farther than ours in Augusta. If you want to try a "local" 3-gun, we have our next one in Augusta September 21st. Two 3 gun stages and 2 shotgun-only stages. I believe that Palmetto Gun Club is now running some 3-gun matches as well. They have a nicer range and are about the same distance as us from Columbus.

The East Alabama Gun Club would be a kick-ass place to host 3-gun matches! The setup and prep for a 3-gun match is much more than a handgun-only match. That's why we only do 4 a year. Several of us had to step up and volunteer to setup and run the matches so we could have one close. To be honest I've enjoyed the 3-gun matches at several other places more than ours but if it's important enough to you, check about setting one up. I have a tough time affording some of the major matches so I usually sign myself and my son up to work them. I get to shoot for free, my son gets to learn the value of working for something, and I learn more working a match than I ever would just shooting it.

Activating target when steel doesn't fall
High Lord Gomer replied to wurm's topic in USPSA/IPSC Rules
You could have called for calibration on the pepper popper. (Editted to add references) -
I'm pretty sure Kurt was being sarcastic. For consistency at our 3-gun matches all guns may have their magazines loaded but only the first gun to be shot may have one in the chamber. All long guns must have the safety on (until the beep) and pistol safeties are dealt with according to USPSA handgun rules 8.1.1 and 8.1.2. I try to give people options and on some stages that includes which gun they start with. Starting with the shotgun does save you the time of loading that 1 extra shell you may have chambered.

Fort Benning 3-Gun 2013!
High Lord Gomer replied to BigHamp's topic in Multi-Gun, Rifle & Shotgun Match Announcements
Oops, thought it didn't start until today. in at 90 and 91. -
At our last level 1 match in the stage briefing I declared that the barrels were soft cover and reminded shooters that hits would only score if there was a visible arc of the bullet going through the target. I worked an Area 6 match with hardcover barrels and don't want to do that again. We had to dedicate an RO to stand behind the shooter and watch which key targets were shot from where. We didn't tape but rather painted the blue barrels with black paint so it was obvious when you had a new crease or hole in a barrel.

At our club members, active military, police, and fire shoot for a reduced rate. I have also started not collecting money from the 2 or 3 guys who show up the day before to setup and then run the squads (except for myself...since I'm handling the money it wouldn't be right for me to "decide" me or my son get a further discount).

That all depends on if you were going to vote for me or not! (j/k...I'm not running for anything)

Thanks for taking the time to write that! I haven't seen any of the new sear blocks. Does it really give a Glock-like reset?

I wonder if Jasper is making them?

Intentionally running into the RO - why not DQ?
High Lord Gomer replied to beltjones's topic in USPSA/IPSC Rules
I run my timer on almost as sensitive a setting as it will go. You'll notice the experienced ROs will move the timer near the end of the run to not be hit by any ejected brass while still picking up the shot. They will also move the timer behind them during ULASC to avoid any noise from that process. They will also hide the timer from the scorekeeper if they intend to offer a reshoot for interference in case the RO with the clipboard gets overly enthusiastic and decides to call out the time. -
If a shaven Sasquatch tells me to look at it again I definitely will! BTW, how do you keep your fur out of the pasters?

Maybe... "I only see one Alpha...where is the other one I need to paste?"
-
But when I go *really* fast, I shoot a lot of doubles1

In addition to consistent performance, yu get the added bonus of a roll pin replacement that can be removed by mere mortals if you ever want to change your own spring.
-
Was that me? That's what I do whenever a competitor stops and starts talking about untaped targets. I smile, look at the time on the timer, and then turn the display so they can see it (subtle message --- IT'S STILL RUNNING!!). Usually after a second or two they get it and move on. LOL...wasn't you but he might have gotten it from you. It was John2A.

At Pinetucky we do 3-gun matches the 3rd Saturday of March, June, September, and the Saturday following Thanksgiving. But...I'm not sure if my fragile ego can handle *yet another* person from Savannah coming up here to kick my butt. Palmetto Gun Club ( http://palmettogunclub.org )is also getting started with 3-gun matches.
