No better time than the present. Give the match director a heads up that you are a new shooter. Every one there usually will bend over backwards to explain everything to you and make sure you have a safe and fun time. If you are still hesitant, Go watch a match.

I love the way steel grip guns shoot. I have had plastic, aluminum, titanium and steel grips on my guns. I currently have a PT aggressive steel grip on my Akai V8. I have tried every other combination, and this one shoots extremely well. And with the aggressive texture, sweaty hands aren't a problem. I would suggest showing up at a local match and shooting a few different ones to see what your preference is. The good news is, if you buy and don't like, you can usually sell the metal grip and recoup 100% of your cost.

As someone who ROs more than his fair share. I don't think too much to ask for anyone that picks up the timer use the actual range commands. Several guys I know have hem printed on business cards to hand out to people. I know shooters new and old that have adopted to them very quickly.

I think the 3 x 357 batteries are the way to go. I steer clear of the cheaper ones. They tend to die way too quickly. Duracells will get you through a match even if they are left on and forgotten about it. Turn then off, and about 10 mins later, they are good to go. You can at least finish the match.easier to keep a spare set in your bag.

After I bought my set of weather tech mats. Everyone that has got in my car orders a pair of them. Easy to maintain. Hold up well. And look ridiculously good.
