Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Mine does but it's pretty snug with the dust cover and the trigger guard being wider than a 1911 frame.
  2. Thank Obamacare for it, they came right out and said it was one of the reasons.
  3. Hey if this weapons ban thing really takes off we may ALL be shooting revolvers in 2013....lol

    Dilemma

I know your finances are stretched thin, but here is an idea and yes it probably would involve selling you 1911 but I think it would accomplish your goals for the time being. STI has a really nice compact 1911 in 45 and Crimson Trace makes laser grips for it so it is ideal for carry. I alternate between my compact STI and my Springfield EMP which are just about the same size. As for your 3-gun gear, I ran a 2011 for a couple of seasons but now I'm changing over to my Glock 34. Dawson makes a great ICE well for it and the basepads Tarran Butler is making gives me 24 round in my Glock to start. AS for your AR there is a solution to having to put all the money up front. Matt Burkett of Predator Tactical has been known to work with people on his AR builds. He will take half down and work out a payment schedule with you. Once you rifle is paid off he does the build. I haven't talked to Tarran to see if he will do the same but it never hurts to ask. Especially since he makes one hell of a Benelli conversion too, it a way to get your guns and not break the bank right away.
  5. That is unless your primer stock pile is way low and you can't find any primers. Strange times call for strange solutions.....lol
  6. Joe, thanks for the recognition, you might be surprised what you will find when you try this.
  7. Rob, Here is something to consider, what gun are you shooting? I've found my polymer guns seem to like 147's where as my Para 9mm likes 125's better. The other things to consider has little to nothing to do with recoil, it has to do with the cycle rate of your gun. I used to shoot 200gr 40's because I liked the softer feel. At one point I couldn't get 200's for a while so I switched to 180's and I soon discovered my split times decreased. At first I just thought it was a fluke but with the help of a friend and a high speed camera, I discovered that my slide cycled faster with the 180's At this point in your shooting level you may not notice the difference, but trust me now that somebody has pointed it out to you you will...lol Hope this helps.
  8. I've got two of Bennie Cooley's Sniper Assault Mounts and both are on AR's, in my opinion you couldn't buy a better mount, from a better guy. http://www.benniecooley.com/bcsam.html
  9. After looking at your pictures, what I suspected is right, you have to much finger on your trigger. Take a look at where Todd backed my finger out to. This has worked really well for me and it has improved my accuracy as well since more finger on the trigger results in more movement to the left and down.
  10. Thanks Patrick, I don't know why I just didn't PM you direct of Facebook....lol
  11. I've been using Uniquetek's Premium firearms cleaner from uniquetek.com. It's completely colorless, odorless and I haven't found anything that cleans my gun as well.
  12. I tried searching for previous posts and couldn't find anything on this. I had a Colt Competition Pro CRP-18 on lay-a-way at the local gun store until somebody come in with cash burning a hole in their pocket and just had to have an AR regardless of what it was so the owner sold it right out from under me at a huge profit. Now it looks like I'm going to have to order a JP rifle instead. I've shot the Colt rifle with the SureFire comp on it and I really like the feel of the comp. I've never shot a JP with the Cooley comp on it, I believe that is the standard comp on their JP-15 and CTR-02 rifles. I'd like to see if anyone has shot both of these comps and if they could tell me the difference in performance.
  13. I had a conversation with one of the USPSA Range Master Instructors the other day and his take on it is if the proposed bans go through, we will see Open-10, limited will go away, replaced by L-10 and production. We will probably see multi-gun disappear too. BTW I wrote my senators, representative, and governor and suggested this really needs to become a state issue if it looks like we don't stand a chance of staving off the bans. Our state representatives have already drafted a new state law to repeal ALL gun free zones in the Wyoming that are not Federal property and taking a stand on keeping AR's and hi-cap mags legal in this state. You might reach out to your elected officials and propose the same.
  14. What you discribe has nothing to do with your grip, it has everything to do with you have too much finger in your trigger. I used to have the same problem when I shot my Glock until Todd Jarrett showed me the error of my ways. Now the tip of my finger goes only so far onto the trigger to where it touches the safety lever just enough to depress it and no more. There is a nice shiney area rubed on the outside of my trigger while the other half on the inside of the safety lever has never been touched. The other up side to is I don't push my shots over to the left on the target as much and it really comes in to play when you are having to go for a real precission shot. I don't recommend carving on your frame until you've had a chance to reevaluate where you put your finger first.
