  1. I have a older P9 Springfield open gun built on the small competition frame and I saw a aluminum slip on mag well for the cz's at Angus' sight and wondered it it would fit. Anybody have any experience please let me know Mike
  2. I have seen mec gar mags listed as 40sw-41ea at cdnn so they should be interchangable
  3. I don't know for sure but I don't think so. the current eaa inported guns are all large frame and I think the old 41 AE guns were small frame. if you have the 41 frame on hand you can measure the mag opening the small frame mags are 1.25" x .8" and the large frame mags are 1.345" x .85" Mike
  4. the factory wood grips are quite a bit thinner than the rubber ones. Mike
  5. for a 9mm in limited just add the mag extensions and go have fun, don't listen to those that say limited is for 40's only. I along with most of the other local shooters regularly get beat by a couple of guys shooting production guns scoring minor. as for a beaver tail I thinck center of mas has a simple kydex one. Mike
  6. Trail boss is good for light loads in both the calibers you listed it for and also in the 44special. But only for lead bullets some people report ok results with plated but imr says it dose not work well at all on jacketed. Also if I recall the info from the trail boss load data it can be some what primer sensitive as in on 38 spl and 357 with same bullet and charge only magnum vs regular primer the presure was way up on the 357 load. I have not loaded any TB in 45-70 but I used regular primers with everything but ball powders in that cal.
  7. L-10 is the way to go but you could shoot limited also. there are several manufactures of extensions for these guns (Arredondo, Taylor Freelance, Pierce) but none of them will give you enough capacity to truly be competitive in limited with the guys running .40s but it can still be fun not to reload quite so much and you wont need as many mags. I have the Arredondo pad and spring on a G20 in 10mm and get 21 in the mag so +6 from stock so I would think that in 45 it might get you +5 giving you 18 in the mag. also if you go L-10 you can still run extensions on your make seating the mag easier and for that you could use the Pierce extensions they are very inexpensive you just need to make sure your springs are good. either way Just have fun. Mike
  8. I just used one for the first time last night on some 45 230 lrn bullets that were giving me some problems in the tight chambers of my 625 smith once I ran them through they drop right in. Worked great now will be standard op on my lead 45s
  9. I would get a 40 if that is what you want to shoot. I have a match that started life with a 10mm barrel but I got a 40 barrel for it and almost never change it back. I think setting up a second barrel for the limited would be harder due to the cone lock but I could be wrong. also in my experience with 10mm mags with Hennings base and guts I can get 21 rd of 40 standard length or a little long no problem but if I load all the way out near 10mm length or run 10mm I can only fit 20. Mike
  10. I also have a older 38super with mecgar mags and it used to have some problems with hollow points or big flat point bullets but never with factory or round nose bullets. I ground down the front edge of the feed ramp and pollished it up and now it will feed just about anything. You can also try using super comp brass and reloading your own the super comp having no rim helps them feed better. Mike
  11. I don't have that problem but I know some people who do I have seen some shooters tape their hand between their thumb and fingers to compress the soft tissue there and get extra clearance from the slide.
  12. Jeff it goes in the gauge unloaded and I believe it has to sit against the back of the gage under its own weight. Mike
  13. if he had it behind his hip on his belt should be fine. not the fastest looking setup but bay be good for ultra high round count stage matches like the crazy croc.
  14. not a 45 load but a trail boss load 10mm 155g semi wad cutter 5.7g trail boss makes about 134 pf out of a stock glock 20 with very little smoke as well like you said recoil what recoil. My son shoots that set up in Limited minor. Mike
  15. mine did not break but I did get it bent up, like Carmoney said messing arround in the gun. Mike
  16. another thing to check is the sear spring on the hammer. I had one get bent (I think from testing the trigger with the side plate off) it would intermitantly not reset the hammer but the cylinder still rotated and stoped where it should. it took a little while to figure out that the hammer was not goung back because I was loooking at the sights and everything else was moving like it should. Mike
  17. I have the same setup a 10mm with a factory 40 barrel I love the gun and shoot a ton of 40 with it only own 10mm mags and mostly run 40 sw handloads loaded a bit long. I never looked to close at the crowns I will have to look wen I get home and see what they look like I know both barrels shoot great though. I did notice one difference 10mm at the same powerfactor as 40 seams to throw the brass about 3 times farther (its great when the guys on the next bay to the right start returning your brass after it lands on them. enjoy the gun and if you want any parts look up Henning here he is the man with aftermarket parts. Mike
  18. thank you I needed a good laugh
  19. I have his pin in one of my single action guns and it works great my double action guns still have factory pins and they work good to if you go with his pin you have to loose the firing pin block safty wich is fine for USPSA but not so good for carry and not allowed in IDPA. I have had good luck with the 13 lb wollf main spring setting off CCI primers and giving me a 8ish lb DA pull and 3 lb SA pull. if your gun has to much SA creep you can also shorten the hooks on the hammer but that gets a little trickier and only one of my DA guns needed it. with a little work these can be a very economical great shooter Good Luck Mike
  20. to improve the trigger pull in DA you need to do some polishing the trigger bow sides where it hits the fame, the little grove where the plunger rides, the top of the plunger, the shaft of the plunger, the hammer spring strut, the angled surfaces that the disconector hits on the frame and the sear housing, basicaly anywhere the trigger / hammer parts touch should be nice and smooth. I also install lighter main springs this realy helps the DA pull weight you just need to do some testing to make sure you dont lighten it to much and stop setting off the primers you are using. I have done the above to 2 DA guns and the triggers are great now. just a little time and a few dollars for new springs. Mike
  21. limited = better sights, cone lock barrel, full dust cover, mag well (must run mags with aluminum base or extension), square trigger guard (better for full race holsters) and higher price. Match = not as good sights, straight barrel, short dust cover, no mag well (you can run regular mags without aluminum base pads ort extensions)round trigger guard, lower price. all depends on what you like or want to spend. Mike
  22. I don't win enough so they stay with me longer If I let the losses get to me I would go nuts.
  23. if you want to make major go for it but it is not necessary I shoot whith a guy who regularly beats half the auto shooters and all the revo guys with a 686 and 38 specials loaded to minor he has his gun set up for moon clips and just shoots faster and more acuratly thatn the rest of us. its just like the production guys we have that beat the limited and open shooters its all about accuracy and speed run what you have and have fun.
  24. It even happend to Henning so he has come out with new guide rods that fix the problem. I had it happen once filed of the raised area that made dissasembly hard and have not had another problem. Mike
