  1. Yes you can change the barrel only and shoot 40, that's what I did with my gun. As for other calibers you could probably get it to run with 9mm or 38 super with new mags but you will need to change and tune the extractor for them and it may still be questionable. For 45 you would need a new slide for sure Mike
  2. looks like fun but I prefer the stomp boxes to be inside the fault lines if possible so you don't have to step back after activating them. also need to watch that the swingers cannot be shot from the right and left ports either hidden well or in the stage briefing that they must be activated before engaging Mike
  3. Henning has mags and the thinest grips so you can order everything from him. as far as after market or third party support Henning is pretty much it but on the bright side he has everything you need and great service to boot. Mike
  4. yep they will drop the hammer out of battery but if they are very far out the hammer will land on the firing pin retainer not the firing pin and not set off the primer. At the Area 1 match last week the nice Idaho dust gummed up my Baby Eagle (same internals as a Tanfoglio)to the point that it failed to go into full battery twice on me, pull trigger and click no bang, cleaned gun after the stage and ran like a top for the rest of the match. Mike
  5. It looks like stage 9 giant shaddow is no longer listed in the scores does anybody know what got it pulled ? I think it was my best stage:-( mike
  6. Shot the match today and wanted to say thanks to the staff for a great match. Fun stages and great people
  7. My 2 cents I give new shooters is regardless of what your long term plan is enter Limited for your first few matches either minor or major whatever. shooting limited lets you load to mag capacity and reload less(don't worry about extended mags unless you plan to stay in limited) letting you concentrate on shooting not reloading. after you have a few matches under your belt and are more comfortable with how everything works then set yourself up for whatever division suits your fancy. as for what division is easier to be competitive in they are all about the same, I spent the last year shooting a different gun or division at every match and got classified the same class in all the divisions so the old saying that its the Indian not the arrow is true. just have fun and shoot. Mike
  8. Yes legal for production division. both guns are on the approved list. I would like a stock 2 for production but a $50 trigger and the gun I have is a lot more affordable. Mike
  9. Nope the slide is different for the 40sw. the 41AE has the same case head as the 9mm so your slide has a 9mm breach face. you can use just a barrel to go to 9mm but for 40sw yo will need the slide as well. on the bright side you can use the same mags for 40 as you do for the 41. Mike
  10. in production you only need the mags to function and feed 10 rounds reliably in open you want it to run with 24-28 rounds that is where the difference is. Mike
  11. I almost checked EAA Witness but it is actual a old small frame P9 Springfield in 357 sig. it shoots soft and flat, but I am still working out mag capacity. Mike
  12. I have a 13 lb in my match in 10mm and 40sw with a henning extended firing pin and it works fine withmy wolf and cci lp primers and cci sp primers mike
  13. did you have to change the slide to go from 40sw to 9mm os is it close enough that it works anyway. Mike
  14. it all depends on what you want to do with the gun? I run a 11lb Wolff long slide recoil spring, I think the matches take a longer spring than the standard and limited models do so I ordered this one from Wolff and it worked good so I haven't changed I have Hennings H141 mag bases and Grams springs and followers on two of my mags and they work great and get you 21 rounds. I have a Henning tight fit slide stop pin and a 13lb main spring and a Henning extended firing pin. I would say go to Hennings shop and get whatever you think you want all his stuff is great and works good, But the guns work pretty well on there own too. Mike
  15. blade tek makes a holster for for it. and Henning sells them the one for match with rail should fit the barrel contour is a little smaller on the new standard steel guns than on the match but it should fit pretty good. Mike
  16. I was wondering if you think putting the factory DA trigger with the over travel stop on it in a regular witness would be legal. it is sold by the factory for all guns and is on the stock II which is on the approved list. Let me know what you think. Mike
  17. Just because you local matches don't run a crono dosen't mean you shouldn't make minimum power factor. As for recoil for the least felt recoil use the heaviest bullet you gun will shoot well and a fast powder. Depending on the gun you are using you can also play with recoil and or main springs to change how the recoil is felt and how well the gun cycles. Lighter springs tend to have less muzzle flip for me and feel better but ymmv. Mike
  18. the answer is no you cannot change caliber with a new barrel and still be legal I also do not believe you can change 357sig to 9mm or 10mm to 40sw either but I cant find the ruling to quote right now but I found it last year when I was thinking about changing the barrel on my G20. in production caliber and cartridge are considered the same thing. Mike
  19. the screws in the sight are to lock in the windage if you need to adjust the windage you would loosen the screws and drift the sight to change it and then re tighten the screws. if the gun is hitting point of aim then you will probably never have to move the sight. Mike
  20. I haven't tried one of the gen4 guns yet but have always liked my G20 for the reasons you state lots of room for support hand on the grip and harder to get to much finger on the trigger. after shooting the 20 I try to shoot my 22 and it feels like my strong hand is swallowing the whole grip. I say shoot the match with the L grip on and see how you like it. Mike
  21. to take the mad bases off remove the little set screw at the back ( or run it in till it is past flush if it will go that far ) and just push the mag base to the front till it pops off the spring will be fine but it does feel strange the first few times you do it. I must be lucky I have a match with 4 mags 2 with extensions and 2 without all 10mm bodies (no spacer) and they feed standard length ammo as well as long loaded stuff just fine. in fact I can only think of 1 mag related malfunction in over 5000 rounds (after dropping a half full mag I got a round under the follower and couldn't load to full capacity) Mike
  22. Yes the conversion sets should be both barrel and slide so you would be good to go. I have heard that they don't sell the match slide separately so it would have to be a normal length slide but I could be wrong on that. Mike
  23. I made my moon clip holder and drop offset bracket for my holster from some .095 kydex from knifekits.com and a moon clip unloader from a piece of conduit and athletic tape. I don't have any pictures to atatch mabey I will get some posted later. lots of fun and let me get into revolver shooting for a lot less money now I need to make a moon clip loader to save my fingers. Mike
  24. Thanks can't post a pic for a while I am out of gown and away from it for a while mike
  25. Looks like a nice old silver team it a small frame open division gun. If you are looking to shoot uspsa you can use this without giving up much to the more expensive guns. If you reload then 9x21 won't be a big problem or you can have it re barreled in 9mm. Have fun with it Mike
