  1. shooting Minor may hurt on the classifiers but having 2 extra rounds can make up for it on field courses where you have lots more options on how to shoot and where to reload. Mike
  2. there are a couple on gun broker now and they are not cheep and they are all the older 200o models not the new 3000's shown in front sight. including a cool looking open set up in 9x21 with ammo that I have seen listed on there for a couple of years now.
  3. If your powder charges are consistent then the OAL Being is likely culprit. with SWC bullets you need to use a bullet seater plug with a flat end not the one with a round cup for the round nose bullets, with the right seater plug your OAL's should be with in .001-.002 another thing to check is make sure your bullest are not setting back when chambered take measurement of the oal and chamber the round from a magazine a few times and then re-measure the oal it should be the same length if not the bullets are being set back and that is bad too.
  4. I don't know the IDPA rules but that is a great gun for USPSA production and you can also shoot limited and L-10 with it as well. lots of people will say you cant shoot limited minor and be successful and that may be true at the higher levels but for me I shoot for fun and thats all that matters. Mike
  5. I Don't have a 38 super open gun but I have seen many 357 sig loads listed in that charge range or higher and I believe the loaded case capacity is similar so it should fit in the case I just don't know how the comp would work or if all the powder will be burned. Mike
  6. If I had your brass situation I would start with the 40 and get a 10mm barrel for it. they only come with 1 mag so I would buy 10mm mags for any extras mine all feed 40 just fine both long and short OAL's. the barrels sometimes take a while to get so this way you can shoot it with the 40 you have right away. for the 10mm if you are loading full power loads I would get strongest recoil spring Wolff makes for the long slide guns (the matches have a longer spring than the standard guns) Also I would get A Henning cone fit guide rod and use a 1911 recoil buffer. I have shot full power 10mm out of my match and it will throw the brass into the next zip code even with a 22lb recoil spring so keep that in mind. Mike.
  7. the 2" Taurus could be fun I shot a classifier with a 3" 5 shot 44 special it sure made El-Prez interesting 1,2,3,4,5,reload,1,reload,1,2,3,4,5,reload,1
  8. all 6 5 C's (although I may have bumped myself to a B in limited last week end)and a low D in revolver (brought a 5 shot 44 special to a match for fun and the 9% classifier still counts)
  9. the P-9s are small frame Tanfoglios and you can get all the parts you will need at Hennigs shop (you can find him in the vendor tent listed as EAA / Tanfoglio Shop he is a great guy and his store has lots of good information on the Tanfoglio pistols. Mike PS for magazines CDNN has some on sale for 16.99(http://www.cdnninvestments.com/wit40sw41aco.html) they are old stock MecGar's marked 41ae but work fine
  10. Sorry for spoiling the top shot fanale for anyone earlier I forgot some people don't watch things live anymore Mike
  11. take off the amount needed at the back and taper the cut about 1/4" up the lips so you are taking the full amount at the back and nothing at 1/4" from the back. Mike
  12. I believe 10.4.3 applies and the DQ is correct. If the hammer had followed and there was no discharge then 5.7.1 would apply but there was a discharge so the DQ is correct the only exception to this is 10.4.3.1 a detonation but the definition of a detonation is round goes off from no action of the firing pin and the bullet dose not travel through the barrel both of these happened so the discharge was not a detonation. Mike
  13. I checked mine with the guage and I did need to take a little bit pff the bac of the feed lips to make it fit. I used a belt sander and took off a little less than a 1/16th at the back tapering to nothing over about 1/4". it is just a little and it dosen't affect feeding. Mike
  14. the extractor modification is not mandatory for the gun to run on supercomp brass, but is a good insurance and only takes a few minutes with a file and a roll pin punch to accomplish. Henning has instructions on how to do it posted on his sight. Mike
  15. you should be able to use the grams spring and follower he sells for the regular mags and cut a coil or two off the spring to make up for the shorter mag body. Mike
  16. If you are going to play with smaller mags you baby eagle mags are a good starting point they are the same as small frame tanfoglio mags and henning makes bases for them and with the base and follower I get 23 reloadable no problem. I have read where some have made spacers and glued them to the outside of the mags to make them work in the larger mag well Good luck Mike
  17. I handled a friends gun with one and it felt great. I have large hands and it is shorter that the factory by a bunch so it made me pull my finger out a little more to get the pad of my finger on the trigger and I felt like that helped isolate the trigger finger from the grip better. Mike
  18. yep P-9 = small frame tanfoglio so parts are no problem and Henning is the man to get them from most of the parts are interchangeable from large to small frame guns and the ones that aren't Henning lists as such on his site. Mike
  19. would putting a safety from a different manufacturer on the gun make it illegal in production division? I know you can add parts from the same manufacturer from a different listed gun it may be worth re reeding the rule. Mike
  20. you are probably right the spring may be going to coil bind before it gets fully cocked. I had this happen with a 18 lb spring I was putting in a 10mm I cut off a coil and all was fixed. Mike
  21. first C limited second C single stack third C production fourth D revolver fifth C L-10 Sixth C open Now to get one of those to move up a level. Mike
  22. 1911s are also bullet and magazine sensitive reliable with 230g ball is easy but once you get to defensive rounds there are so many bullet shapes a gun tuned for one may not like another. also magazines make a big difference take a top of the line gun and feed it with a cheap magazine and it may start choking. all the parts really need to work together for a reliable unit. Mike
