  1. Depends on the diagnosis, i.e. osteoarthritis vs. acute injury. Depends on the surgeon, i.e. method of introducing the stem cells-Stevie Wonder injection technique vs. open surgery direct placement. Not a lot of success history. Controversial even in the rarefied air of the NBA and NFL moneybags. I think your estimate of out of pocket expenses is way low. More like 50K, more if complications. Depends on source of stem cells, expertise of surgeon, your ability to stay relatively immobile while recovering (no working), and your ability to get to and from hospital and specific physical rehabilitation experts. No guarantees of success, as usual with any surgery. Depending on your relation with your surgeon, and there are some very excellent orthopedic surgeons in Alabama, you may want a second opinion. Here is the hard data: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3897321/ From the NIH, which is reliable, because they are real scientists, as opposed to the CDC which has become a political wing of executive branch of government. Good luck. I would opt for repair and then total knee when ready. It takes a full year to get back to square one with a total knee and usually both need to be done. Tough problem.
  2. Yes, IPSC Nationals was just overwhelmingly attended. I was going to shoot it, just ran out of gas. But I lead the nation in match fees eaten anyway. Are you coming to set-up? You really think the stages will be left as is? As for the comments about Area 2, which used to be held in the fall and was considered the best match every year for a while-you could expect the same bays, the same type of speed shoots in the bays and the gradual dumbing down of the jungle runs etc. But it's not the premier match in the country any more. But that really has no reference to this year's Nationals. I can see your point about 2,000 bucks and all that and what you expect for that, but I am not sure why you equate that with this years Nationals. If you think the match sucks after you shoot it and that's the consensus, I'll probably be with you. But making all this negative commenting before the match, based on paper stages, does no service to anyone. It will turn off relative newcomers and isn't really necessary, is it? I don't know why you feel you represent "the rank and file" "customer". Only kings and people with tapeworms should say we. It's not like stages have never been repeated at Nationals before. There are always complaints-the wind in Vegas, the mud bowls in Tulsa, etc. If you really want a vacation, take the 2,000 and spend a week in Anguilla. This is a shooting competition. I like speed shoots. We call them speed shoots for a reason. I call them Jesse James stages. Speed. I hope the match is better than you expect.
  3. Roy, no one has even looked at these stages for real yet, not set up. Paper stuff. And USA doesn't run the match. USPSA rents the range from them. I like the facility a lot. Very safe. Nice clean facilities. Ammo available. Cover for rain and or sun. Really good steel and props and walls. You are commenting before the fact.
  4. Everytime you master bate, a kitten dies. A tired old meme from a dead forum. Ignore.
  5. All stages have elements that are used repetitively. A zones are chest high 90% of the time. Stages get repeated over the years, but actual target placement is often subtly different. I wouldn't worry about it too much, there is no way to quantify what you are asking. I don't think it makes much difference. SS Nationals is held every year at the same place, so if you've never shot there, you might not know it's always going to rain, etc. But you know, if you're at a certain level, it's not going to make much difference in the overall scheme of things. An A shooter is not going to win the match no matter how times they shoot the stages. Shoot and have fun.
  6. Because it doesn't train your decision making ability, cognitive awareness, moral stance, and some other esoteric issues. Neither does IPSC. It does improve gun handling and some basic principles of marksmanship. IDPA can be fun if you like that sort of game and have lots of time on your hands. IPSC is a better game. Steel Challenge is a good game. 3 Gun is fun.Trap and skeet are fun. All of them improve gun handling and shooting skills. But they have nothing to do with any kind of real world shooting. And real world shooting is not part of the Enos Forums. IDPA can say whatever they want, but that doesn't make it true.
  7. The Swarovski is no longer available. Try the Trijicon 1-6x. No battery.
  8. Just zeroed one of these for FNH 3 Gun Match. I like the red triangle, which is 2.2 MOA at 6x. Still awesome at 1x, one of the best CQB scopes ever. Very easy to zero at 200-I use a 200 yd gong and you can see the hits on the gong. Very easy to see hits at 25 meters if you're doing a quick zero check at a match. I got this plus a Warne Skel mount for 2000 from Amazon. Very good scope. No batteries. Shooting from dark inside to bright sun, the reticle is black, otherwise bright red.
  9. The 9mm FN 9mm Longslide is awesome. One of the 3 best pistols I handled at WarSport 3 gun. I had to clear around 250 pistols. The FN 9mm Longslide as shot by Joe Satterfield with trigger work by Dave Sevigny was almost as good as Infinity and better than almost all the Glocks I handled. Really awesome gun when set up right.
  10. some springs can be rough. some 600 or 1500 sandpaper with your lube the whole length of the spring will smooth it out. new spring good idea
  11. Most of the time people carry their guns because there are too few or only one safety table at a local match. Sometimes people forget to gun up again after lunch. I'm with ChuckS. Not a big deal.
  12. All the time. Necessary skill set.
  13. you're kidding, right? Plastic a disadvantage? Really, the best shooters haven't been shooting Production in the USA for a while, but when they were, Glock was it. Glock has fallen on hard times because of Gen 4 issues, and other stuff, but Gen 3 models are excellent. M+P so so. i forget the other plastic guns. you're information is incorrect. Shooters win matches not guns.
  14. Blue Force can change from 2 point to one point. Go to their website. QD is not the same as easily released. If you go in the water you want a sling that be released quickly.
  15. Stoeger's are for dry fire
  16. bottom of Krylon paint can. draw circles and paint. 6 across. another target 3 across. 3, 4, 5 down. like on a full size ipsc metric target
  17. Frozen shoulder from practicing draws with a loaded gun. Probably stick to less than 100 day if you're under 40. Less than 50 a day if older. Until you get the draw and speed you want. Which may take a year. If you're over 40 you will definitely want to have a massage therapist, a chiropractor that you know and trust and see often. And some type of stretching or yoga program that you do regularly. Never seen brute strength be an advantage in shooting. Good luck. DVC
  18. This is a Frank Garcia originated drill. I have seen him shoot it clean at 15 yds. That was a few weeks ago. The top, I mean match winning, GMs can probably do it it at 20 and 25. You're talking about putting a minimum of about 1000 rounds down range a day for a year. Need a range and and endless supply of ammo. Look up what Eric has posted about how many rounds he has put down range yearly. Not sure if Rob has posted about this, but that's just work. You have to factor in talent as well. Eric, Rob, some other guys get started early because of family. They also have talent. A guy like Dave Sevigny comes out of the blue and gets real good real fast. but not at the age of 8 or 9, or even 16-17. Taran Butler same thing. They didn't start out of the cradle. They have monster talent. Just to give you some perspective. The point of the drill is to work on the parts you need to work on-trigger pull, sight picture, vision. Great drill. It's good to start a day without a timer and just shoot it clean at 5 yds. Then go to timer. You will use a lot of ammo. Great drill, maybe the best one out there. You can only shoot as fast as you can. Good luck. DVC.
  19. Isn't that why TJ and Rob shot minor for World Shoot?
  20. Why would anyone want to shoot an Open Glock? Never been able to understand that. Like a hot rod Chevette.
  21. Novak does really good work. They do a lot of sights. Just not many competition shooters. Send your gun in, you won;t be disappointed. Novaks are great sights.
