I believe it comes with a 15 lb spring. I changed mine to an 18 and use a 14 lb recoil spring. I have used different primers even rifle primers and havn't had any light strikes with them.
I have done several sti edge triggers. The internals in my opinion very good. All I have done is polish the surfaces and adjust the sear spring to achieve a less than 2lb trigger. I would bring it to a gunsmith. He should not have any problem adjusting what you already have.
Whatever you can find should work in a 1911 or 2011. I have used tula, winchester, cci also some rifle primers. If you have any trouble with your sti 2011 just change the mainspring to an 18 lb spring. It comes with a 15 lb spring.
Check the compression washer under the powder adj bolt. Mine lost its tension once and the adj bolt could be turned by hand. I had varing loads as a result.
I have been shooting ss and lim 10 with my kimbers for @ 10 yrs. It helps to know your way around a 1911. I do my own triggers and have kimbers with and without the swartz safety. Never had a problem with it. I did replace the original extractor in one of them at @ 25000 rds. It lost tension. I use all wilson mags 47d and 10rd mags.
I have found info stating that the mainspring that comes in an edge is 15lb. I have a 16lb mainspring and a 14lb recoil in my 40. I havn't tried a 12 1/2 lb but plan on it in the future.
I'm sure others read this. If I were your age I would be doing the same thing as you. You have the speed and agility to reach your goals. Keep up the good work !
Just picked up a used edge. It has an infinity short flat trigger. It is too short for me. I like the stock trigger that comes in kimbers. Can anyone tell me which trigger insert I should buy to get a trigger length close to my kimbers ? I will be going to a curved trigger. Should I get a long or medium curved trigger ??
thanks in advance
Blind stages are no big deal. IDPA is 18 shots max. You have @ 5minutes to look the stage over before your group starts shooting. It isn't like USPSA, there is usually only one way to shoot the stage. Have you ever been to a state match ? The ROs shoot the first day. If you set the match up you will get more time looking it over ! So what ? You also have more time to get confused as well. If you don't like how a match is run start your own !
