  1. Easy to have done. I have been running one with about 35k on the 40 top and 40k on the 9mm top. About 3.5 yrs of matches. Fitted correctly the first time. Thought about hard chrome on the frame but I hate shiny guns.
  2. Just ordered a 9mm. Standard frame gun. Read thru thread and plan to run STI mags. I already have a stock of 140 mm mags for 2011. I am getting this one for my son to shoot 3gun. Has anyone modified the frame to fit the mag instead of modifying the mag? Knowing what works in the STI mags makes setting the gun up easier. What is the quality of the action parts? Should I just plan to chunk it all when I get it. Used to do same thing with the old Para factory guns.
  3. Been using the Loctite fix like Kurt said for about 10 yrs. No issues so far.
  4. Signed up waiting to get address to send payment to. Can we pay by credit card?
  5. The 9mm xtreme that I use in 147 and 165 seem to be ok. If I try any in 40 they tumble. I am using the 9mm in a SW627 with 38 short colt brass. I would say check crimp it should clear up the issue.
  6. Why does every match want to make their set of rules so different? One set up not fitting all matches really sucks especially when traveling. Sounds interesting to do a 2 gun match, but not a fan of slung weapons. Maybe some day it will evolve into something easy to understand.
  7. For practice they are ok. Major match no way.
  8. My drives are between 100 miles and 200 miles one way. I normally round trip it. If there is another match the next day I will spend the night. I do travel further for 3 gun matches than pistol matches.
  9. I think it all goes back to what I tell people. I practice the things that are tough. I don't considering going to the range shooting groups tough. Bad stages show me where I am weakest. Next practice session I work on that. Most of practice is a plate rack to 40 yds. Makes most shots easy after that.
  10. Probably better luck with slower powder to work the comp better. Some open guns will not run well with lighter loads. My carry gun is basically a short open gun without the dot. I run the hottest 9mm I can buy. It makes about 160 pf. It does not like low power factory ammo.
  11. I have used both brands. The Bayou bullets are the better bullet. I have never had much luck accuracy wise with xtreme. lots of tumblers in 40. No issues with coated bullets. Adjusting the crimp has not helped with tumbling issues either.
  12. 35 does it all. If you shoot in limited the added capacity will work better. 41 would be good if you shoot limited 10.
  13. I don't experiment much. I choose a powder and run only federal powder if I can help it. I run titegroup with jacketed bullets and clays/n320 with coated bullets. As long as they function and hit a plate at 25 yds I go with it. I run same load in 5 guns.
  14. Did not work well in my Caspian. I am using the Tripp 10 mm mags.
  15. My 400 yd hash is not 400 yds. Did not rush to get to my pistol. It is normally my best choice for a stage when possible. Rifle practice helped change that. Going to do more long range shooting over winter and next season. No ruling body for 3 gun. Black targets in a dark background really suck. Could not find some with an optic.
  16. Bought a Stoner AR 18" stainless to give it a try. It groups 3/4 moa to 500 yds. For the price I was not expecting much. I have been very surprised. I intended to replace it when something else became available. I got it from Midway for a really good price. With Federal XM193 bulk ammo.
  17. I have 18" on most guns. I do keep a 16" gun for shorter range matches. Most of our matches there are targets to 500+. It is fun to shoot a hoser match once in a while.
  18. I am using federal xm193. I get it locally and prices are very good. It's accurate enough for three gun. Used it exclusively last half of season.
