  1. At 75 feet, the flight time is under .1 seconds, even at 800 fps, approaching .05 seconds at 1400 fps. The bullet is slowing as soon as it leaves the barrel, so the calculated velocity would be lower than muzzle velocity. Besides, I don't think I could operate a stopwatch in under a tenth of a second.
  2. That's Jim being Jim. Pre-Thanksgiving Turkey Strut launch position.
  3. Powerpoint I put together for USPSA new shooter orientation for our club. PM with your e-mail address for a copy (unable to upload to forum).
  4. The competitors are downloaded from EzWin (Export Registration, then HotSync). Squads can be assigned in EzWin prior to export or on the Palm. There is a provision to add walk-ins at the time of export. Names can be assigned to walkins in EzWin when the scores are uploaded (HotSyc, Import Scores - under Match / Palm.
  5. It's set up for super. From reading various threads, it sounds like sc might be better. I guess I'll try both and see if it works. There's also a difference in the shell plate. SC will pop out of the shell plate when you try to seat the primer.
  6. I found it very confusing too. Clockwise is UP on the top adjustment and RIGHT on the side adjustment per the dial markings, but is it Point of Aim or Point of Impact.? I invested in a laser bore sighter (SiteLite SL-100) and adjust away to get the red dot of the Docter to match up with the laser spot on the wall at the appropriate zero distance, 10 yd for me on pistol. The SL-100 is limited to indoor use. They also have a green laser that is supposed to be good outdoors. The Docter adjustments are continuous, no click detents, and will drift with use, so they need to be verified periodically.
  7. That's a typo - not 450 per Palm, should be $50 each.
  8. With regard to shooting ability, Jesse Abbate and Randi Rodgers have done well in both organizations.
  9. Receiver was new, in the white, so it all had to be finished. Exchanged e-mail with IonBond Custom Shop Gunsmith Ryan Flynn (r.flynn@us.ionbond.com) The entire bolt and carrier assembly (except the gas rings) was done. I have the JP LMOS buffer that is already anodized, so I didn't see any need to coat anything in the back end.
  10. I just got my parts back from IonBond for a new build. Did the upper and lower receiver, bolt, carrier, barrel and comp in satin finish to match my open pistol. Rifle photos at http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...amp;hl=firebird in Post #2. Those are the only parts IonBond recommended for coating. Barrel/Comp was my option.
  11. Not the way I wanted to start the day, Paul. I will miss him too. Nothing found in local papers about arrangements.
  12. Built my Firebird today at GentlmanJim's place. It's configured for Open Division and weighs in at 9lb 9oz as shown. Receiver, JP barrel, comp, carrier, and bolt just back from Ion Bond with satin finish. 18" ultralight 1-8, JP adjustable trigger and speed hammer, Low Mass Operating System, VTAC handguard, Ergo grip, Docter short optic, Nikon Primos 3-9 BDC scope, ARFX stock, Harris BR-S bipod. Still need to adjust sights.
  13. Hard to have a meaningful poll when there is apparent disagreement on the definition, or some MD's interpretation of it. Maybe that confusion is the root of the issue. As a newcomer to the rifle/shotgun world, the 3-Gun format would be a simpler entry point than multi-gun, along with the reasoning of StealthyBlagga.
  14. Can someone provide a brief description of the difference so there can be a more accurate poll?
  15. Absolutely sort, since there are rimmed and rimless varieties. I'm shooting .38 Super. Have to remove the Supercomp, AP RL, TJ or they'll pop through the shell holder when you try to seat a primer. Sort takes place after tumble cleaning, and are set aside to return to the people who use the rimless brass at the next match I go to, and they do the same for me. When I buy brass, it's Starline. Other brands (R-P, Win, AP) are set aside to be used for lost brass matches.
  16. I thought I voted for 3.5MOA (Docter with Grams mods), but it didn't seem to register that way
  17. Would it be Rio Salado, looking east to the Superstitions?
  18. Let me preface this by saying I've NEVER stayed at a Holiday in Express... From your description, you are seeing desirable results (hit - move on, miss - make up), so the process of getting those results is relatively inconsequential and not recorded - sort of like the drive home from work - you got there but don't remember any details along the way, unless something forced your attention, like a deer suddenly in the road. I would need to shift focus to the process rather than the result to see what seems to be missing.
  19. I think I may go back to VV N350. I never had these problems with that powder. N350 is a lot more expensive but I'm willing to pay extra for the reliability and consistency. I'm using VV N350, and lost about 36fps <1159 vs 1123> between Pueblo (170.4) and Tulsa (165.7). Chronoman used nominal bullet weight of 147 at Pueblo, weighed in at 147.6 in Tulsa.
  20. Nearby (relative Montana term) USPSA clubs in Big Fork, Libby, Missoula, Bozeman and Billings. It's also the home of Montana Gold.
  21. If you don't like crowds, North Rim. I stayed in the cabins rather than main hotel. If you come in from St. George, UT there's the bonus of Bryce and Zion parks. Get a multi-park pass. East of Marble Canyon and Page, AZ is Monument Valley. For crowds and lots of activites (IMAX theater, aerial tours, museums, hikes or mule rides into the canyon) South Rim, from Flagstaff, AZ. Steam train runs from Williams, west of Flagstaff. I stayed at El Tovar, right on the rim. I'm old and set in my ways, so Tusayan didn't appeal to me as a place to stay. Preparation is key if going into the canyon - good shoes, fitness, hydration. Southwest of Flagstaff is Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon, but April is prably too early to slide down the rocks into Oak Creek. At this time the national parks don't permit firearms. Access to the rim points west of Grand Canyon Village is by park operated busses only most of the year. Private vehicles OK from GCV to east entrance. The Sky Platform is outside the park to the west on reservation land and is pricey, but if you want to look straight down through a glass floor..... Not my thing. Hope this is helpful. For park hotels, NOW is not too soon for reservations.
  22. Remember, Palm scoring is being used, so I'm not sure what hardcopy detail will be available for the shooter to carry away for verification.
  23. 5ms works out to 200Hz, 120Hz would be 8.33msfor an apples-to-apples comparison.
  24. Not always constructive, there are some good natured head games happening - can I plant the seeds of some riskier approach that I wouldn't try .
  25. Jeff, I just ordered a set, based upon reviews in this forum. Glad to see you've been picked up by Dillon as well. Since you can take the .380 from the 9mm, how about a way to take .38 super / comp out as well?? That, and have it make coffee and you've got a deal! TimE Locally I see .38 Super (several varieties), 9x21, and 9x23 that I would like to separate from the 9x19, with 9x19 being the shortest case in my world.
