  1. Cash to overall finish only. Enough sandbagers around to make rewarding class winners with cash a silly idea. Give them something they can hang on their wall and make them feel stupid for shooting below their skill level. Pro category make sense, but only if you adjust entry fees accordingly. I don't want to pay $100 for a match and not have a chance at the $$$ unless I shoot Pro. Let people that think they have the skills pony up the cash and go for it, and don't lay it on the backs of the recreational shooters.
  2. If you guys want to see some good LE shooters come the the PAC NW, we have more than a couple cops who kick butt in IPSC. I think a lot of it comes down to time and $$$. Cops don't always have a lot of either, and shooting isn't cheap.
  3. I stopped riding bikes/motorcycles on roads that cars use because there are too many IDIOTS driving cars. After the last time a car about wiped me out I decided my life is worth more than the fun of riding bikes/cycles. Now it is off road only for both.
  4. Interesting, but is it neccesary? I am the stats guy for our club and I save the results to HTML format after the match is over, when I get home I upload them to the web. It takes me less than 10 minutes to do all this. The stats are up before most people get home. I don't understand what the big deal about getting stats posted is. If you understand how to use Winscore and you can post to the web getting the results posted the same day should be a piece of cake. The pop up IS cool though
  5. No DQ No AD AD = Accidental dischage (key word here is accidental) = 3 meters or over the berm. No Unsafe Gunhandling = He knew what he want to do and did it safely. If yuo are not in the process of "trying" to put the fresh mag in the gun, or get the spent mag out, you are not reloading. A reload is a dynamic event, example: If you are running a race, and you stop running, are you still running? No you have stopped running and you are standing. If you are in the middle of a reload and you stop reloading to shoot a target you are not reloading, you are shooting. I have seen competitors drop the mag at the end of the stage, see a miss, and make it up with the bullet left in the chamber.
  6. Listen to Erik, he should know, as he is prone to breakage
  7. TDean, You sure you don't have a screw loose? (I couldn't resist)
  8. Flex, good for him. It sound like fun. If the targets are close enought to blow their heads of, why not do it? That is just piss poor stage design. We are supposed to have targets to shoot at, not punch with our pistol right?
  9. Oopps, I meant 1 per shot per target. BTW I would never pay $100 to win a match, let alone change a bad stage to "not quite so bad"
  10. 1 per target that an advantage was gained on.
  11. Sell it before the pre-ban law sunsets next fall, it won't be worth much then.
  12. Wanna bet? Ever heard of 9mm major in open? I saw a 9mm (9x21 crack a slide two weekends ago in Eugene, OR) and it was a Glock 17 baby
  13. Glocks are cheap, that is something. To make a glock for IPSC $569 Glock 35 $130 for Dawson sights $200 for a Barsto barrel $80 to fit the barrel $75 for a Glockmeister Trigger Job $60 magwell $45 Glockmeister guide rod $18 Extended slide stop total= $1177 to make it IPSC ready. Hmmm, not too cheap, I guess you were right An extra $123 and you can get a good used S_I
  14. John, Don't waste your money replacing the grip safety. Most shooters eventually disable it anyway. It is of no use for IPSC shooters.
  15. I hate when people whine about breaking sights, just do like Keltec and mill a site into your slide!!!
  16. Last match I shot with two shooters shooting Glock, 1 had her slide crack the other had about 15 jams. Hmmm, 2 words: - Glock Perfection - BTW the owner of the Glocks is a Glock Master Smith, go figure. The really funny part when when he said he has 1 gun dedicated to putting broken parts on and sending it back to Glock.
  17. McColiver, A calculator is a good thing to bring, along with a stopwatch, many of the top shooters use them regularly. It is good to calculate your HF for the stage so that you make sure the stats people got it right.
  18. Rhino, My Kimber jambed also, I called Kimber and they said call us back if it jambs after 1500 rounds. After about 1200 it started working right.
  19. Ahh that makes more sense. When you said shoot fast C's over slow A's it didn't make sense to me since the time to shoot a C versus an A is nearly the same, and the crash factor negates any real benefit. Shoot A's, Accept C's and Makeup D's (one of my mantras) A lot of people that shoot C's don't know where they heck they hit untill they walk up to the target. I found I actually shoot faster if I "see" everything. Not a perfect sight picture on each shot, but enough of one to know where I am going to hit. My times are right in there and my if I drop more than a few (with the exception of movers) then I didn't stay focused. I so so many newer shooters hosing targets at 3-7 yards and getting misses and they simply don't understand it only take a fraction of a second more to actually see you shots. VISUAL PATIENCE, without it you are really limiting your capacity for improvement.
  20. It depends on your level of shooting I'd guess. .16 is about as fast as I can shoot my blasters. I can shoot A's all day long at .2 out to 25 yards. Example at 25yards 10 c's at .16 = 1.6 seconds 40/1.6 HF 25 (all it takes is 1 D or mike and then you HF is toast) 10 a's at .2 = 2 seconds 50/2 HF 25 The disaster factor at .16 splits is much higher also. But if you think you can do better by shooting c's, go for it.
  21. Mcoliver, I got 8 seconds by doing math estimates (but I forgot to add the lost points). 150 points is a fairly long stage. Say 20 seconds. 150 pts / 20 sec = HF 7.25 So, 5 misses on the star gives you -75 (50 for the misses and -25 for the lost points) so you start out with 75 points possible 75 pts / 10 sec = HF 7.5 So on a 20 second stage in would be more like 10 seconds.
  22. Skeeter, If it was 1 shot and you can't make the shot in 2 seconds then it might be worth it. If you have to take 2 shots, then you can take 4 seconds for the shots. For me splits @ 25 are .75-.85 and a transition of 3 yards is 1-1.15 so for me I would even think about not shooting them, but if you can't shoot headshots @ 25 yards, you are probably better off skipping them, and going to the range and learning how to shoot accurately.
