  1. TL, I am definetely with Flex and BE on this one. I tried the go fast, see later approach and it was the worst thing I ever did with my shooting. As far as the golf analogy, you only hit the ball "far" one stroke out of each hole (e.i. a fast draw,) control on all the other strokes is what it is all about. The Burner and TJ have .17-.19 splits, there are lots of other place to go fast in IPSC than just the trigger. Seeing is BEing.
  2. just my 2 cents on the "race" rig. I was doing some draws the other day out of an uncle mikes $5 holster and they were dang near as fast as my race rig. Practice is the key to the draw, not the rig IMO.
  3. Vince hit it good as always. Gun up in shooting position, ready to engage targets, no DQ. It may scare the shooter, but the RO's job is to follow the rules, not guess why the shooter reacts to a shot. He may have paused for many reasons, not just because he was suprised.
  4. Left to right for me also, I don't know why it is more comfortable (I would guess the reading thing also,) but my times are about the same regardless which way I shoot them.
  5. Sig, My comment was only a suggestion, because that particular grip makes easiliy reaching all the controls harder for me. I think you would be even more please with the combo I suggested, but that is the cool the about the 1911, they are a ton of things to try out.
  6. Why is it that reporters ONLY appologize for boneheaded actions AFTER the get caught/fired? I guess they learned that from Clinton.
  7. Sig, nice pistol I would dump that grip though. I think it would be easier for you to operate with standard grip panels and skate tape across the front strap. Have fun and welcome to the dark side
  8. Behind is behind, if they engaged the targets from anywhere "except" behind procedurals should have been issued.
  9. Maybe if you are a wimpy/weak person long dustcovers might make transitions slower. But I prefer heavier gun for overall shooting performance and style. I find I tend to overswing the lighter guns.
  10. Dreamweaver is pretty good IMO
  11. Dean, That was not a "quote" from Glock, but a summation of the effective response that they gave. To say that he got what he deserved is ignorant. He spent 3 months trying to respolve the issue and was unsuccesful in getting them to do anything beyond the offer to sell him another Glock. He has since sold all of his Glocks and moved to the 1911 platform. Unless you are already a lawyer it is sensless to try to resolve this matter in court as the product's value is so minimal that you would easily spend more in fees trying to get this matter resolved in court. Thanks for your 2 cents though.
  12. 1 1/2" groups at 3 yards would be pretty big groups @ 7 yards. An experienced shooter could shoot one hole groups at 3 yards and 1" groups @ 7 yards. Your experience would be to be expected from a new shooter. The further downrange the target is the larger the groups is because it magnifies the slightest movement. Take a broom and hold the handle sticking away from you. Look at how much the broom moves at the far end of the broom. Now, if you look at your hands the movement isn't moving very much. Maybe that will help you understand what your bullets are doing in your groups at the two distances. If you moved the target to 15 yards the pattern would be HUGE. Your sight might be part of it, but I'd be willing to wager that the bigger part of it is your lack of shooting experience.
  13. I found a similiar experiment that convinced me of what BE stated. You don't need a scale though. Just take rou regular grip, then pull all of your stong hand fingers out from under your weak hand and let them flap in the wind. Then shoot a few mags through and you will see what you see. I won't try to describe it, because the experience speaks for itself. Don't worry about dropping the gun, I have seen a 12 year old do this with 180 PF .45.
  14. See the stipiling post
  15. JR, Too bad you can't make it to Bend, it is a great place to visit, and a better place to live.
  16. Call your shots, stay relaxed, have fun. You can only do what you can do, so do it. Have Fun!!!
  17. Flex, Just teasing you for your back to back posts.
  18. Thanks for the feedback, glad to be of help. Once you try this type of grip, I think you will be adding it to whatever you can. It is so easy and cheap to do and you can be very creative on how you use it, I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with. I am sure you will see it one bas pads, AR's, shotguns soon.
  19. Ditto to Lynn, not AD but unsafe gun handling
  20. Lead - The manual might not say anything, but from personal experience, I know the what the factory will say because I had afriend who had one blow and they said that if he was shooting lead bullets, tough luck. Flex - You have too many picts of guns blown up for my liking
  21. Not hearing the steel is a good habit to have. If you wait to hear it, you have taken too long. Learn to call your shots and trust them. I do not hear the steel anymore when I am really focused on "seeing" and it is so much faster you wouldn't believe it. Shoot strait, fast, and often
