Okay, here goes. My open gun seems to like to be dirty. Any time I clean it, it chokes. If I just give it a little lube between matches and about half way through the match, it runs like a charm. If I "clean" it, I'm done. Even running a mag through it, doesn't ensure functionality. It seems to work better if it's filthy. The only downside to it really, at this point, seems to be the limitation it puts on my wardrobe when I shoot, no white shirts or light-colored pants. Is this hurting the gun? I apologize for carrying this further off topic. Liota

Sig Lady, They don't teach much of anything anymore. One of my students couldn't distinguish France, Spain, Germany, Ireland, UK or Russia on a map. One didn't know where Italy and couldn't distinguish it. She did know where Cambodia was, though. Go figure. Liota

My life is pretty blissful... Liota

Hubby gets the boxes for the shooting habit. I get boxes for my other hobby/habit of jewelrymaking. All those little boxes are pretty cool when they contain stuff to make something for a customer so I can buy more gun stuff... One hobby must feed the other... Liota

Funny, I can put people to sleep from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and again from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. I'm not even a Congressman. Liota

Wow, Eric! Is that Zuzu? She's a cutie! I saw her picture on your website. As for her being a terrible taskmaster, those eyes will do it every time. I'm a complete sucker for a cute face, especially on a dog. Liota

Clean??? You cleaned it??? On the more serious side, Duane is correct. Check on all the things you changed to make sure none is at fault. Liota

Gentlemen, When I work as an RO, the last thing I check is the hand position. If it is not correct, I ask the shooter if he understands the cof. If he says "yes," and still does not correct the position, then I just don't start him. When he looks around, he usually asks if something is wrong and I tell him about the position. He usually chuckles a little, makes a comment about his mental capacity that day, corrects the position, and life goes on. No problem really, but always be polite and professional. Liota

Kelly is most correct. Not only is there an issue with incorrect scorekeeping, but the shooter is truly cheating himself if he does not record the score properly. Kelly, surely you realize that all the cursing and grumbling is our way of saying how great a scorekeeper you are and how grateful we are that you do it...Ahem! especially since we don't want to do it and you are soooooo very good at it. Video Comparison Matt Burkett Vs. Rob Leatham
Liota replied to PistolPete's topic in Recommended Resources
Sounds like you have TGO's "Shooter Ready?" Am I correct? It isn't really an instructional video. He does do an impressive El Prez, though. Try "The Burner" series from Jerry Barnhart. They are excellent. I saw a snippet of Matt's videos at the Texas State 3-Gun Championship. They looked good as well. Liota -
I adore my Limcat. Johnny has excellent customer service. Workmanship is beyond reproach. I wouldn't change it for the world. Liota

Bucky, I haven't tried the Arrendondo followers for a Glock, but have tried them for an STI and a Para. They didn't work. The rounds wouldn't come out and tended to go crosswise in the mag. It sucked. About the only things I use from Arrendondo are rollers in my mag pouches and a Mag brush. Their mag pouch rollers rock. The single-piece design is far superior imho to the two-piece design by the manufacturer. Liota

Yep, that happened to me a couple of times at the Texas State 3-Gun. Had to make sure I pushed the bolt the rest of the way forward. Liota

Rhino, Depending on what you are doing with the .45 ACP you can download it a bit and still make major pf. When I was training heavily a couple of years ago with a coach, he told me to download my rounds a bit so I wouldn't be shooting those "wrist breakers" my husband liked so much at the time. I did. I was loading 4.8 of Bullseye at the time and brought it down to 4.0. It was much smoother for practice and matches. Sight recovery time went up considerably as did my accuracy and ability to shoot well at matches. As for my hits, he kept telling me it was two aimed shots, not a double-tap. Once I got that through my thick skull, all got much better. Dave, On the mental issue, one thing I have learned helps a lot is to clear my mind of everything at the line. I don't even think about the stage. Just let everything go. My friends tease me unmercifully right before I shoot so I can do that. I resulted in me, a D-class shooter, getting a 56% El Prez. Of course, the best was when I was shooting the last array of 8 pieces of steel in a stage and I could hear my coach behind me, "Sheeeeet!" Woohoo! for the rest of the match. Just a couple of pennies on the pile. Liota

I hate growing to love a friend and then losing them. I also hate it that I can only put 10 angry faces on here. I am waaaaaaaayyyyyyy more angry than that. Liota

Hmmm...true enough. It reminds me of a news story I read in Japan. The article explained that North Korea was a horrible place because it only had one radio station, one television channel, and one newspaper. Upon finishing the article in the Armed Forces Newspaper (the only one on base), I turned off the television from Far East Network (a.k.a., Forced Entertainment Network, the only one on base). When I went out to the car, I turned on the radio to the radio version of the Forced Entertainment Network, again the only one on base. When I arrived at the front gate, I was greatly relieved to read that I was on an American Military Base in Japan... It struck me as ironic. Liota

NPS Internet Solutions (www.npsis.com) works well. I've been using them for almost four years now. Liota

Kelly, Not sure I would agree with it being the best, but the most fun? Oh yeah! It shoots well, too! Come to think of it, I don't think I ever saw it jam. The Cutts Comp is even cooler in person. Liota

Kelly, we would never use that nasty P-word to describe the enjoyment of firearms. It is all purely functional and no one could fault you for being curious as to how fast your gun functions. It is academic knowledge and you ARE a professor. Liota

We have one of those at our club, too!!! Come to think of it, probably every club does. Liota

Rhino, Seems there is a lot of that going on at our club right now. The core IPSC shooters are resting up from the Texas State 3-Gun Championship and just are to pooped to "Cheat." We will be changing that in the future, hopefully. Who can say "No" to all those pretty rounds going down range? The smell of burning powder nearly makes me swoon. My pretty Benny Hill gun all shiney in the sun... The concussion my comp makes on the guy behind me and my open gun... Can't say "No" to practice (nay, cheating). Liota

I have tried Pact, CED, and CE. I bought the CE Pocket Pro and never looked back. It has few buttons. It is easy to operate. It has long battery life. I have only changed the battery about twice in 4 years of heavy use at every match. It goes beep every time. No misses. Even though I do... JM2C Liota

Wow! Slurrrp... Now that I have tissues to wipe the drool off the keyboard, Mmmmm... those are gorgeous! Liota

I hate being beaten to the punch/flame by my husband!!! Cannot believe they are forcing me to leave!!!! I cannot believe some general officer who only comes to visit twice a year can decide with the swipe of a pen what will happen to my career. ARRRRGGGHHH!!! OOOOOOO...Life sure sucks sometimes!!! Matt, The question is "How much would you get disowned?" Liota
