  1. I tried this, but to no avail. Much like George, I nearly tossed lunch in the start box. Luckily it didn't cost me any money. Liota
  2. I hate making C-Class just three months before the Open Nationals!!! On the upside...I'M FINALLY OUT OF D-CLASS FOR SOMETHING!!!
  3. Still have the blasted assignment to Maryland, but will survive. Other than that, life is good. Liota
  4. Benny is most correct. Additionally, it shoots flat and is very comfortable. My scores went up 15% when I shot Lim10 with Wakal's 6" Benny Gun and that load. Of course, it was supposed to be my gun, but now I have my own Benny Gun and what a pretty thing it is, too!!! Thank you, Benny! Liota
  5. Come on out swinging the hammer of truth! There are at least 4 of them on the Army Shooting team. Does that bring the count to 7? Good to see you here, Ross!! Liota
  6. Coffee on screen! wipe wipe wipe Oh, Gawd! That's so perfect! Do we really hve to dress in spandex??? I love you guys and all, but...well, that is really the issue, isn't it? Just say "NO!" to spandex. I hate to see a new shooter get treated poorly. We want them to come back. Our club is very fortunate. Attendance is growing at the matches. It may be due to the addition of the 3-gun side match, but I think it has to do with friendly people. Liota
  7. As a means of double-checking my ammo before A4 I weighed each round on the powder scale. It had to be within +-1 grain to go play. Result: No malfunctions due to ammunition. Come to think of it, no malfunctions at all. Liota
  8. Master class for you, Sandbagger! After A4, you will be there. Or did you take that box of sand home with you from stage 7??? Liota
  9. 4 grains of Bullseye under a 200 grain SWC is a nice soft minor 45 ACP load. It's messy, but cheap and soft. I shot it for about 8 months. It was perfect for training. Liota
  10. Erik, My finger is curled up because I was getting ready to engage targets. I was bringing the gun up to level to engage the next two or three targets on the other side of the wall. It was within line-of-sight of the next target. The RO knew exactly what I was doing and didn't think anything was remiss. Like I said earlier, I was in the process of preparing to engage targets. There is no question. I was in no danger of having an accidental discharge. Like I also said earlier, I learned all about the ease of AD's two years ago in prctice. Haven't ever done it in a match. Liota
  11. Guarantee the finger was not in the trigger guard. Learned all about that in practice. It was heading there for when I engaged the targets around the wall, though. If I remember correctly, there was one just coming into my vision at that point. Liota
  12. Jay taught my class, too. Quite the knowledgeable guy. He did a fantastic job getting past the gaming mentality that shooters seem so fond of with our group. His explanations of the rules were helpful. Funny enough, I ran into a couple of the scenarios he mentioned in the course at the next match I RO'ed. Have fun at the FGN! Liota
  13. Each star is a little different. The Ashtons told me that at last year's Carter Martin Classic in San Angelo. Their stage had two regular, five-pointed stars and a hammer (two-pointed star). The regular ones were activated by a popper and were set right next to each other. I went 10 for 10 on the big stars. Terry said the key is to shoot the plates on the upswing because there is less tendency for the star to "run" that way. It seems ironic, that even though I live where the star originated, I don't shoot it in local matches much, only twice, I think. The stars are a blast to shoot when they go well and a complete pain in the rear when they don't. I managed to screw them up at A4 last year and the Texas State 3-Gun this year. I got over it. The star is easier than Dan Warren's Texas Windmill from the first 4-H Charity Match in Coleman. That thing was a doozie. Liota
  14. I'm the instructor and I pass notes when I'm watching someone else teach.
  15. Cool, Kath! Congratulations! Liota
  16. You've been to San Angelo and Coleman??? It is this same story every month. The Coleman results are on the web that evening. We usually take a day here in San Angelo. Both San Angelo and Coleman have a small awards ceremony after the match. It works out pretty well. Our stats guys, one in each place, shoot through the match and enter the scores. We are grateful to both. Liota
  17. First, I would take the cash. No doubt about it. It is tangible. It is not, "You're doing great. Keep up the good work." Those are two of the most useless phrases in the English language. Most of you guys have it right. The praise is great, but the money is better since you know the motive behind it. Shooter Grrl, you are right on the money. I want the presentation in front of my peers. The military cannot give money to its enlisted members for a job well done. It CAN give time off. Last year I received seven days off for my time spent with the base police right after September 11, 2001. Everyone around me knew about it and why. I loved it. The time off was WAY better than any trinket to put on my uniform, which is what they usually give for that (although, the point toward promotion isn't bad either. ) Just my $.02, Liota
  18. Scooter, We stayed. The credits were loooonnnnngggg. The preview was just a little snippet. It looked good. Better than Reloaded. Liota
  19. That's pretty much the story I heard, except everyone got to shoot the squirrel. It was brought up at a local charity shoot here in San Angelo a couple of years back when we had the "couch from hell." We were going to allow shooters to shoot the couch squirrel-style. Liota
  20. Real pretty. Benny does such nice work. My open gun looks much like that, but with an STI slide, C-More and no cocking serrations. Your gun looks great! Liota

    Algebra

Brian, This is the one place where nothing good generally comes from the sound, CLICK. I understand the concept of the epiphany and just wish it would come for me in math, too. Guess it's back to the book for more of the cheating...errr, practice. Still managing to pull an A in my Algebra class, though. Hmmm... Guess he hasn't hit my insecurity block yet. Liota
  22. 4 O'Clock in the morning is just to darned early on a Friday. My pillow is still singing sweetly to me about how soft and cozy my bed is , but there is an up side to this. I got to start the Friday Flame War. Friday's goal is done. Is it the weekend yet? Liota
