  1. Sending them is one thing. It would be nice to hear from the match staff just when the app will be available and when we will submit it. Takes two minutes to say apps will be available on Dec ? And won't be accepted till Dec ? It's reminding me again why I quit going to matches at Rio. Edited for stupid autocorrecting Iphone.
  2. Minutes have been sent to the BOD for review. Had a couple kinks as usual. Should be done pretty quick.
  3. I like Comps on my .22's. But I use .223 Steel comps. I've got a couple with SureFire MB556K brakes and a couple with older comps. I like the way the gun tracks with the little bit of weight at the end. I think the comp takes the tiny little bit of recoil out and holds the gun on target perfectly for me. The Tac Sol Comp is pretty cheap to begin with. It's easy enough to buy the barrel and the comp and see if you like the feel with the comp.
  4. Yes, clearly placing in the top 16 was not good enough for you. Just out of curiousity, what gun did you run at the Production Nationals, and where did you place. I just want to know so I don't buy that gun since it's clearly not competetive. I said he didn't do as well, I didn't say he didn't place high. You're more than welcome to keep beating a dead horse. It's your right. But I can guarantee it ain't gonna happen.
  5. There are Pros and Cons to being a USPSA club for 3 Gun. If scoring is your main issue with it, that's easy. USPSA allows Time Plus scoring, like most IMGA matches, for Multi Gun. Extremely quick to score. As for the Open Division Shotguns, not everyone has a R&R Saiga and you may attract people who don't want to buy one by leaving Open at 10. If you run it as a USPSA match you do HAVE to use USPSA rules, no deviations, except the one allowed by the rules. Otherwise I'll rat you out to your Area Director. That said I'm still hoping over the next year or two that IMGA and USPSA can come together on the Divsions and many of the rules. I think a lot of issues may be resolved by this. As far as the Pros to USPSA membership: consistency of rules is one that will keep people coming back and drawing folks from further away. I travel all over the country shooting matches. But it's rare when I drive more than an hour for a match that the MD makes his own rules and is willing to change them on a whim. Scores can be posted on the USPSA website. Major matches can be listed on the calender. There is an actual rule book you can point people to rather than saying, because I said so. And the bottom line is it does support the organization.
  6. I just wish they would come out with that magazine in 9mm. Great for my Open guns and a lot easier to put a short extension on.
  7. There aren't a whole lot of matches running this format anyway and the Trooper class is normally pretty small. Dividing the field up between the different Divisions would just make it even smaller. Making it a subset with a time bonus would be...problematic. At some matches Trooper is pretty difficult. MGM Ironman comes to mind. At others, like Ft. Benning last year, I basically carried all my gear from the beginning of the match anyway, except for one box of shotgun shells I left in the car till the next day. If I had the option of getting a time bonus at Ft. Benning for carrying that little bit of extra ammo, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Heck if I was competing in any match and could get a time advantage for carrying some extra crap I'd do it. If you haven't shot three gun before, I would really recommend against trying it at your first and only match. Particularly at the Ironman. Sorting out the logistics is part of the fun of Trooper and not having shot three gun is going to put you at a serious disadvantage to the guys that shot three gun before. Go, shoot Iron sights and have fun.
  8. It depends on availability and what model you're looking for. A Gen 4 17 will be pretty quick. A Glock 33 will take a bit longer. I've received them in 4 weeks and some have taken 4 months.
  9. Looks like Mossberg just signed Patrick Flanigan to shoot for them as well. Jerry and Patrick. Looks like Mossberg wants a seat at the big boys table.

  11. Yes you will be at a disadvantage without optics and Limited would be a much better choice.
  12. Bad Gary, baaaaaaaad Gary. There now you've been chastised.
  13. Ozark was the start of the 2011 competition season for 3 Gun Nation. Definitely won't see it till then. They ran everything up through Rocky Mountain, then they re ran everything. Now that they're caught up again we're gonna see some new stuff. Everything is on track for next year. Looks like they're even adding new sponsors, like Cheaper than Dirt. Next season is also going to run at 9:00 on Saturday. A more reasonable hour than this season. Must be doing well to get a better time slot.
  14. Looks like the link is down, or at least the search for the title doesn't work.
  15. I liked the old style Ergo grip that was hard plastic. I just don't like my AR to flex up and down when I only have one hand on it. I'm currently using an A2 grip textured by Shanahan on my main competition rifle. Magpul MOE or MIAD (set up like MOE) on all but one of the others and a Hogue on the last one. I just haven't gotten around to getting rid of the Hogue, but I probably will this weekend. I use the Magpul triggerguards on everything that doesn't already have one built in. Either the aluminum or the MOE ones depending on when I built the gun. No problems with either. I'll probably get everything switched over to Magpul one of these days.
  16. It's too late. I've already shaved my legs and I'm getting my eyebrows and bikini wax tomorrow. Yeah, but we all know that didn't have anything to do with Ft. Benning.
  17. It's done, but we can't talk about anything until the meeting minutes are finalized and posted. Shouldn't be too long.
  18. Simple solution is to ask DNROI. Just send John an email with a link to the website and as much info on it as you can come up with. He'll get you an answer that will have more weight than anything we say here.
  19. Chad, you keep demanding examples of these 10-14 round capacity guns that are competetive at Nationals, even though few people believe that Nationals should be a good measure of what is popular. You've had two top 5 competitors in Production post on this thread with exactly that information but you choose to ignore it and say it's not possible. David Olhasso has successfully run a Beretta 96 and a Springfield XD .40 in Production, I believe he finished in the top 5 with each. Ernie Langdon shot a M&P .45 a few years back as well. Didn't do as well, but Ernie is still a hell of a shooter. Rich Dettelhouser has been towards the top of the Production heap more than a couple times. Bob Vogel shot a G35 (admittedly holds 15, but it's a .40 and shows the .40 is viable) well enough to win Nationals. Developing USPSA requires divisions people can shoot with the guns they have now. Not telling them they need to buy something else, whether it's extended magazines, or a hi-cap 9mm. There are hundreds of thousands of guns that don't come with a 15 round capacity. (Not models, actual guns), Glock 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 30, 32, 33, 36, 37, 38, 39, Beretta 96, Ninety-six, Sig 226 .40, 229, 228, 225, H&K USP and some other models, Taurus, Walther, Para, CZ all have models that don't have a 15 round capacity. Would any of those models be the best to take to Nationals, nope. Would they be a good introduction to get someone through their first few matches till they can decide if they want to continue in USPSA? Yep.
  20. I like the two match format. I'd love to shoot Trooper and Open or Scoped Tact depending on the breakdown. If 3 Gun Nation is coming how would that work for the shootoff? Two separate or one after the end? You wouldn't need to use the same RO's for both matches. I'm sure there might be some folks willing to shoot one and work the other. Different matches, you don't have to worry about having the same RO from match to match. Between this and the Grand Nationals, looks like I'll be in Idaho for a while this year.
  21. You planning on using iron sights or an optic. I can see going with the 22" if you're planning to put irons on there and want the maximum sight radius for accuracy. Beyond that length isn't really an issue.
  22. I said yes and would be willing to give it a try. Green lasers are significantly brighter than red lasers, but they also draw a lot more power. Not sure if I'd take one but have to swap batteries every third match. Be interesting to see what they could come up with. I know there is a lot of interest in blue lasers now as well. I would imagine red dots are red because they always have been. The first commercial visible lasers were red because it was a lot simpler to manage. I know a lot of three gun guys are running green LEDS and don't have any problems with grass.
  23. Actually last year was Open/Prod and L/L10/Rev. Not sure what the format will be for 2011. I guarantee I will ask this weekend

  25. Nothing in stone yet. Sounds like it will be in September, but again, nothing firm yet. There is a BOD meeting this weekend in Dallas. I know the topic will come up then. Not sure if we'll have dates at that time though.
