  1. Who is "the Beard"? USPSA has moved the match all over, it has very seldom had a dedicated 3-gun staff. SMM3-G in the same place since 1996, dedicated staff, still has approximately the same rule set since 1999. Still has great stages.
  2. Not to be "that guy", but I am going to be that guy, but 3-gun had been going on for well over 20 years before 3 Gun Nation came along. Some folks liked it, a lot didn't, and I for one consider it the start of the down turn of 3-gun sports. I can attest that 3 Gun Nation is NOT the 3-Gun of old.
  3. Some how your mount is not sitting correctly on your reciever. I ran into this once with an Armalite mount very similar to yours. I had to take off the clamp parts under the screws to finally see where it was off. In my case one of the cross bolts that hold the mount screws was not fitting into the picatiny rail on the upper, but it felt like it was fitting correctly.
  4. Your dealer probably won't do much, but Springfield is pretty good about things. Down side is you have to ship them the rifle. If you decide to go the G.I. rod route check Fulton Armory for the op rod. Also the C.M.P. sometimes has M-14 parts. I wouldn't hesitate to get a G.I. rod and just drop it in and run it. B.T.W. you want to grease the heck out of the roller on the bolt and the slot it rides in.
  5. Probably a welded op rod. Hot ammo usually won't cause an op rod to jump out of its track. A bent rod will, or a cracked rod will. The newer rifles (from a out 2005 on) have a commercial op rod that is made in two pieces and then welded together. They can crack and break. They are not very good, and seldom are really square or fit well. Finding a "new" G.I. rod and getting it fit properly will fix it. If not send it back to Springfield. It will still be a two piece rod, but at least they will make sure it won't jump track.
  6. Full sized rifle or 16" barrel? Have you taken it apart? If so do you know if you have a welded op rod (newer rifles) or a forged one piece?
  7. Lifter spring is worn out for starters, and then???? As my amigo Steve Rose has pointed out......lots of variables.....which no one ever includes. Tried helping a guy for a long time only to find out he had all sorts of changes that effected his problem. Then he got mad because the stuff I told him "didn't work".
  8. I don't think Mike has been on here for a long time. I'll text him and see if his alcohol hazed brain can A. remember how to log on here, an B. if he even knows what an SX2 is any longer.
  9. Well, Triangle is one of the original Benelli builders. Benny and I have been Instrumental in many of the changes that have become standard through the years. I can honestly say that no one understands Benelli shotguns as well as Triangle.
  10. I want....no, DEMAND to see the pistol KN3 has that has a "Tank Brake" and further more I want to see proof that J.P. makes a 12 gage version of said "Tank Brake"! All your guns??? Mighty sloppy councilor! But blame away!!!
  11. I also run a 21" and never have had trouble knocking stuff down.
  12. The guys that ran S.O.F. hated comps of all kinds, but after the 1994 ban a lot of rifles were made with comps to get around the evil "flash hider" Claus in the law. I was at the shooters meeting where "S.O.F." polled the shooters about should they allow them. Bennie Cooley petitioned for comps on behalf of Armalite, and it was decided to allow them about the size of the Armalite pinned and welded comp,1"x3". Latter when S.O.F. shut down folks started getting comps which were longer than 3". It was me who made the new ruling for Rocky Mountain 3-Gun that it was 3" from the muzzle, not the threaded portion, which allowed many more rifles into the tactical division. This rule caught on and is still here today.
  13. My #2 favorite.....any match that doesn't run 3GN. My #2 pet peev, any match that does! Let's see if this one gets me in just as much trouble!
  14. Have you ever changed your recoil spring? If you have the back of the the recoil spring guide, plunger, piece that goes at the front of the spring has a little nub sticking out of the middle of a slotted screw head looking thing. This is a buffer. It consists of a plunger (little nub, very stiff coil spring, and a retainer ring aka slotted screw head looking thing. Anything else been done to your trigger groups? Taken all the way apart? "custom" trigger work? Trigger stops? After market trigger group housings? Etc. What all has been done to this gun?
  15. First off any time the hammer spring cap reaches its highest point, it pushes up on the shell release tab and this causes a shell to be released from the mag tube. If you have ammunioin in the tube and the hammer falls/follows and fails to ignite the chambered round for any reason it is going to release a shell onto the carrier, so you are going to have a live round in the chamber and a live round on the lifter, no and if or but. Several things can cause this to happen, bolt bounce, recoil spring guide buffer backing out or fallen out. Crack in the back of the shell cut off lever. Cut off lever spring weak or broken, and bolt release button causing drag/bind, ie. Arendondo type.
  16. Easy to get those installed usually runs around 75-100 bucks
  17. Your going to really like the V3! Outstanding!
  18. No concerns cutting barrels, folks do it all the time. There are also companies that install ribs, like Simmons in Kansas. If you find an 18" with chokes, just send it to someone to install the rib.
  19. Used M1 Benelli $500.00 , recoil pad fit and ready to go $80.00, Welded lifter $50.00, Mag tube $80.00. No Frankengun about it. All genuine Benelli except for the tube. No matter what you buy it needs a mag tube, and there ain't one made by the gun maker!
  20. No need to thank me, it's all part of the quality service you have come to expect!
  21. Does magazine fit gauge? Yes! No need to count, concentrate on safety. No it doesn't.....open! no need to count concentrate on safety. Does 4x scope indicate limited...no....open....R.O. can centrate on safety......does x equipment fit in 4x2, 4x4, 15x80 division....don't know, need to stop a look it up, not thinking safety. Five guys saying snap on mag pouch put him in 3x2....or what ever....distraction for R.O. , and to be fair, NO, you never said UML, I just took it that way. I guess it is because the matches I attend (non UML) don't seem to have that problem while the two I did (UML), I wanted to take several range lawyers gunny sack swimming. UML is non existent in my area, and I'm happy! As for making a course of fire that requires an R.O. to count round to insure compliance.....that is a very lazy stage designer, but that is a very different topic. Sorry to interject guys....carry on!
  22. Another way to go would be find a used M1, add a kick eze recoil pad, welded lifter, and a tube and go facing. I've seen used ones go for around 450-500 and it's really hard to wear one out. I've been trying for quite a while and haven't got it done yet.
