  1. Hmmmmm, was it Carter Miller by chance?
  2. I think it's the locking head/locking pin....bolt. I think all the rotation on a Stoeger is done by the bolt head and pin put in the carrier, but I haven't played Stoeger in a long time.
  3. I'm thinking new locking pin and carrier, but I'm not a stoeger guy. All I am is a guy who has done a little playing with inertia guns.
  4. I really don't know. I know on Benellis a heavier spring made it worse because it compresses the inertia spring even more. On that.gun, the guy had dremmeled the slot in the carrier so there was no step at all. It closed really smoothly, no hitch at all, but it had a very madining intermittent click. It took me almost a week to find the cause, because he said he hadn't done any thing to the gun except polish a couple rough spots. After that it's the first thing I check for the feeder inertia click!
  5. Yes, where the bolt rotates. Don't do anything in there! Some guys try to re profile that area so it rotates real smooth. Problem is, if it doesn't have that hesitation in it, it can bounce back out of battery because when it closes it compresses the inertia spring a bit. Sounds to me like it is suffering bolt bounce. Quick test. Lock it back, hold it horizontal right in front of your face and trip the bolt release. Watch the bolt slam forward, if it bounces back at all that's your problem. It should close and not move back at all. If it does something in your camming system is worn. Also make sure that the retaining pin for your ejector is tapped all the way in and not dragging.
  6. Did you by chance polish the cam pin slot in the bolt carrier? Knock the edge off that kind of flat spot on the carrier where the cam pin hits when it first is closing?
  7. I would and always have gone J.P. Most innovations that have happened in the AR world have started at J.P. most the others copied.his ideas and added a twist or two which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. If you want the one with the most proven R&D behind it....J.P.!!!!
  8. What's funny is that all these folks 10 years ago were figuring out these things so people 10 years latter could say they understand them better when they really don't. They are just repeating the stuff that they heard from those guys that really figured it out.
  9. The disintegrator load has a very light shot charge weight. Inertia shotguns like the Grisan require at least a full ounce of shot weight to function correctly and at least 1150 feet per second in velocity. If I remember right the weight of the shot in the disintegrator OO Buckshot round is 1/2-5/8 if an ounce of shot weight.
  10. If you hear the AR twang, you aren't concentrating on your shooting enough! Extruded buffer tubes are much quieter than bored buffer tubes, and flat wire springs help a bunch as well, but the real secret to reducing spring noise isn't found in over priced gadgety stocks it found in your garage right under the cap of the bottle that holds the spare oil for your car. Oil the hell out of them buffer springs!
  11. Some folks accept sponsorship because they really believe in the product the manufacturer sells, not just take any old thing just for another cool logo on their shirt. Some folks get sponsored because they were really good before they got sponsored. Those folks get to pick who they represent. As for barrel length, I am happy running a 20" barrel in any Bay stage, and I've never been behind anyone because of it, most times quite the opposite. Get what you like and be happy, 3-4 inches of barrel don't mean nothing except you do bleed off velocity quite a bit below 16", and even that don't mean much unless you have to make power factor like IPSC Rifle matches overseas.
  12. I have never had a dusty range choke my Benellis, nor have I noticed it with other Benellis or Versa Max shotguns, but living in the desert south west, and shooting in most Western States from Washington to Texas maybe I have never shot on a dusty range. I have seen plenty of poorly maintained shotguns brought to matches though, and the mere squirt of CLP you mention would be forien to many I have seen fail. I don't know why people just hate to use oil.....hey folks it's real cheap right now, take advantage of it!!!
  13. Matter of fact, TTI, Triangle Shooting Sports, Rose action Sports, RCI, Pat Kelley, and Benelli U.S.A. all have one. Oh and I might just have one for me......the guy with a brother Iaw
  14. I have it on real good authority that the guy who made the squaring gage for Benellis sold one to Steve Rose at Rose action sports. I know a guy who knew a guy who knew his brother in law's sister and he said he knew!
  15. Nothing screams adjustable stock quite like hacksaw!!
  16. After all this time, it might be the nut behind the butt stock.
  17. So the same folks that say short barrels are the best for these Bay stages are the same ones that say you need at least a 26" long shotgun barrel with a 12 round tube sticking out 6-8" past the barrel, and I have yet to have any one tell me that their shotgun is unwieldy. I run 20" barrels on my ARs and I have yet to feel that it is too long on any stage.
  18. Umm....well.....yeah, that would totally work.
  19. We have been working feverishly in our labs to counter the 2-Gun infection and have come up with a very effective therapeutic system to help as we struggle to find a vaccine. It consists of a set of dumbbells shaped like shotgun shells, to strengthen the upper body. A set of ankle weights filled with buckshot to strengthen weakening legs. A set of decals that makes your scope appear to be iron sights when you look through it (fits most LPVS except for really cheap ones cause to see through some of those is pretty "tough"). A bottle of male enhancement pills and a picture of He-Man with a shotgun in his hands, his rifle slung....iron sighted of course, his pistol hot and holstered, with over 50 rounds of shotgun ammo in all sorts of carriers for insparation.
  20. A great big THANK YOU to the folks who put on/worked/R.O.ed/fixed, supported the 2020 SMM3-G Match!!! It was a great match, the stages were fantastic, the weather great! I had a blast! They put on a great match while also being very mindful of today's challenges! I hope the people who shot the new 2-gun division a speedy recovery from what ever malady makes a 3-gunner atrophy and weaken, and I know there will soon be a cure....hang in there! A big shout out to Federal Premium ammunition who put lots and lots of certificates for cases of ammo on the prize table....who knew that prize would be better than EXXON stock, and of course the penultimate THANK YOU to Frank and the guys at Patriot Ordnance Factory, the main match sponsor!!!!
  21. In general I agree with the man from Texas, but Hornady is a real responsive company. Now I got no dog here as I am a Federal Sponsored shooter, but I have never known Hornady to back down from a mistake....if there is one. I do know I had a bolt that was loose on spec. and certain brands of ammo would do exactly what is pictured. It got so bad with xxxxxxxx ammo that those little pieces would fill up the bolt under the extractor and it would start all sorts of trouble. Got a new bolt and firing pin and all was well. Don't forget they test this stuff for standard carrier weight and buffers, and a lot of us sure strech that envelope. I am NOT saying anyone is at fault here, but Hornady is a "stand up" company, that is for sure and for certain!
  22. I would really like to, but it is the exact time as SMM3-G, and always has been right around that time frame. Just can't get to both, although I would like to!
