  2. That was the best line in the whole video... I forwarded the link to several die-hard tupperware lovers...
  3. I called PV yesterday (I also have Win SPP on backorder from them) There que is down from 50MM primers to 5.5MM primers. I am currently at about 1.2 MM back from the top of the list. They thought the March orders would be shipping this month.
  4. I trim to 1.755 and seat the bullet around 2.20. As for dedicated case length, you will find when you start measuring case length a variance from 1.740-1.760+. Thus crimping consistently into a canalure is not feasible.
  5. The RCBS triple cutter for the case trimmer works awesome. Trim, and Chamfer in/out in one step. The only sorting I do is crimped and not crimped, as I run all the crimped brass through a Dillon Super Swage.
  6. While shopping for SS BBQ grills I learned there is a variety of SS grades. The non-magnetic ones are the best at holding a raw finish, but not all SS is created equal. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stainless_steel and you will find about 30 grades of SS materials. I think the SS in the M&P has a bit more on the industrial grade SS, rather than the "brush finish" or "high polish" material.
  7. Gman, these were great instructions. I was shopping around the bargain bin today and found 2 large and 1 medium S&W M&P grips for $0.50 each. Thought I would try your instructions and they worked great. The grip is the Large S&W grip with the top tang cut off, and some minor reshaping. Thus making it a medium-large grip, for those who like the tweener sizes.
  8. One thing I like to use in conjunction with the good light is a bicycle helmet rear view mirror mounted on the press. That way I can look forward into the mirror and see the powder charge in the case below.
  9. I had issues with my chrony and the issue turned out to be operator error. I had the chrony about 8' out from the bench and was getting intermittent readings 900 fps, 880 fps, 1500 fps, 920 fps ... After messing around with various set ups I found moving the chorny back to 10-12' brought all the readings in line.
  10. In three hours (I suggest evening for the walk, less crowds) you can make a walking trip from the White House to the Washington Memorial across the road to the WWII memorial (this is really cool about 10PM with the lighted fountain etc). Along the Vietnam Memorial down to the Lincoln Memorial. I walked up the avenues and streets back up to the White House to end the trip. The National archives open at 10 AM... get there and get in line at 9:15 (takes about 1.5 hours) then you can walk down the National Mall (towards the Congress) and visit a variety of Smithsonians along the way. National Art, Air and Space, and Indian History museum are some of my favorites.
  11. I will have to agree with this--the interview with you (Brian Enos) on the Burkett DVD talks about the steps to shooting a smaller and smaller group. I found it very informative and have added some shooting at long range to my practice sessions. The slow fire practice has pointed out a few weaknesses in my trigger control, which I would not have identified just shooting fast.
  12. One solution, which is alternate to the locktite, is to buy the tool to install/remove the extractor rod. With the knurled surface one can get the extractor rod tight enough and solve 90% of the loose extractor rod issues.
  13. I punched mine right out with a 1/8" punch and a decent hammer blow or two. I think it only goes out from the top down and intalling was the opposite. From what I hear if you are putting in an aftermarket extractor it may need some tuning/fitting. To me this translates to having a gunsmith do it. But all in all it is very easy to punch it out and pound it back in. Hope this helpsI will be shooting mine all this coming weekend. I will post a report. I put a Speed Shooters extractor on mine (thanks Kenny). The only fitting required was epoxy painting the piece to match the M&P. The replacement extractor, plus a little chamber polishing on my part was all that was needed to cure mine. It was $45 well spent. Also SSS sells a stronger extractor spring for a few dollars. This may help also if you want to reuse the stock extractor.
  14. +1 I shot a match recently where the best solution was to run dry in the open and move to the next shooting station (normally a procedural). However the MD had waived the "run dry in the open rule" for certain stages. In my opinion it was annoying to try and remember what stages used the alternate rules.
  15. I would buy the Bang Inc. I have had both brands of springs in the past. The Bang Inc. springs are much faster to set up and troubleshoot. Right now I have my 686 set at 7.1# for use with Federal primers and my 625 set at 8.3# for use with any primers.
  16. I have only had a problem with coarse media sticking in the cases when I have too much case cleaner mixed in the media. Dryer media, less packing...
  17. Well you could always wear these and look like a hobbit:
  18. Guessing with a colors based theme: Either "Yellow Men" or "Men in Black (Gli uomini neri)"
  19. I had the same issue... I used a cheaper source for the pin-- the paper clip box. A section of paperclip works well in the existing hole, and has not jammed yet.
  20. +1 on both of those (I would have pulled the person LAMR using the method described. If they could not load safely then they can not shoot... ) Too much TV...
  21. I think it is the 17 gallons of Mobil 1 you have on your revolver that may be a factor.
  22. Start with a minimum load and work your way up. Chrony a few rounds and you will probably find that substituting a magnum primer for a std primer makes an equivalent load with 0.2-0.5 grains LESS powder. I know for 9mm a mag fed primer makes an equivalent load for 124 gr rn cmj, using TG at 0.30 gr less powder.
  23. http://www.choreboyscrubbers.com/metal.htm Available at Krogers and Walgreens... Make sure you buy the "Copper" one as it will peel the lead and moly out of the barrels and chambers without doing damage.
  24. Just for kicks I just loaded up a few to try & replicate the Atlanta Arms GSSF load using 147 Zero JHP's over 4.0 grains of WSF @ 1.10. I did'nt chrono them but they both shot well and grouped well from my G-34. Recoil was moderate, not quite as soft as a minor load using S-1000 or N-320 but very nice load nonetheless. I can see why people like it... I use WSF 3.9 Gr with 147 gr Moly bullet and do not have an ES issue. You may be a bit light on charge or too close to the chrony. Mean , Spread, Std Dev, PF 928.5, 30.1, 10.3, 136,489.5
