  1. I looked around but didn't find exactly the answer I looking for so I am asking. I want to try some 38 Short Colt brass for steel and icore. I cast a 121gr rn bullet that has worked great out of special brass anywhere between 700 to 1000 fps. No leading and very accurate so I thought I would try that bullet. I size them .358. I have shot them out of several k frames, n frames and Ruger single actions. So these are the powders I have on hand in enough quantity. Unique Tite Group W231 Which one would you guys suggest? Another option if you don't think I will get good result with the 121 bullet is I also cast a 158gr round nose bullet.
  2. Mikey257 and I are talking about coming over. What kind of round count do you guys run on average? Not that I am worried about running out.
  3. I have been ask to pull the trigger once after I had clearly shown the RO the empty cylinder. Silly but it does happen.
  4. When it comes to 45 acp and 625's there is no reason to not have enough moon clips. For even the biggest of matches to load them up and check them long before the match. Before this past area six my match ammo was loaded, clipped and chamber checked in my cylinder weeks before the match. Ranch product moon clips are .35 each, anyone should be able to swing that.
  5. I did mine with a dremel and a small ball stone at first then polished everything with a cretex point. I did mine along with cutting it for moon clips. I am sure Pennicle custom could do it Clarks could do it. I used to hate recessed cylinders but after doing mine I don't mind them so much. I heard Jerry likes them and after doing mine I can see why.
  6. Dude that is badazz!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. We just completed our Area match with an all steel stage and the discussion came up about having one paper on a stage and this was the answer. see 4.3.1.4 "at least one authorized paper target OR popper must be included in each course of fire" Randal I thought about that but I don't know the rules as well as other so I figured I was missing something. And I would assume the stages had to be approved by USPSA at least for an area match. Hhhmmm.
  8. I have a Sabre Defence varmint rifle. I has I think a mid length gas system and handguard but no sights. The gas block is under the hand guard. The portion of the barrel in forn of the handguard is .720 diameter. I like having the scope but if I ever wanted to shoot 3 gun with it I think I would like to have some open sights. Or should I just use a low power scope or power variable and not worry about irons? If I want to put sights on it would the JP clamp on mount work? Or something else I have thought about, is there a way I could mount sights for short range stuff on the hand guard at a 45 degree angle?
  9. Ya'll did it. You forced me to put clothes on and go to my shop to get my calipers so I could measure some cylinders. OK really I didn't put clothes on. Non recessed k-frame 357 cylinders measure 1.625
  10. You got a cool picture of me on stage 12. http://www.photostockplus.com/home.php?use...album_id=178316 I like this one and I am going to buy it. I will get with you in a few days.
  11. On one chamber with just a little pressure the cylinder will turn back. The edge at the lead in and the bolt notch is a bit rounded but there is still enough face that it should and does lock but a little pressure will turn it back. Do you think a bolt spring will fix this or at least put off replacing the cylinder a bit. Or should I look at something else?
  12. Dang I will have to miss out on the big prize table. I will be almost back to Atlanta Georgia by that time. Oh well thats life. I will be the weirdo shooting thru with a revo Saturday. I hate it and I apologize up front I have to get home and latest flight I could get home on Sunday is too early to allow me to shoot at all on Sunday.
  13. That was your 625th post. I think I'll drink a beer in celebration. Cheers to you. I will have a whiskey drink.
  14. Very cool but you open guys need to slow down and enjoy your shooting more.
  15. I am with Walter on this. Make SURE your bullets are .452 all the way around.
  16. I really like the sight picture of a green F/O but I had a problem this weekend at area 6 that may make me go back to red. On the notorious "Field of Steel" stage we had a star that was backed up against a grass covered birm the plates were painted gold and I shot it first thing yesterday morning with sun shining right over my back. I could not see my sight, I had to look for black around the F/O and look for green to disappear to figure out where to shoot. I got them all down but it took several extra shots. Jerry shot it behind me he said he got the star one for one but there was also several poppers with the same back ground and he had problems with them. I have a EGW on my 625 now and like it it is a good bit shorter and it is easier to replace the F/O rod.
  17. My drive home was only just under 7 hours, but I'm betting it was less cheerful. DQ'd on only the 2nd stage of the match (stage 4), when I got on the trigger a little too early, transitioning into an array. My fault, no doubt, but it stings. Otherwise a great match and nice facility. I think I'm snake-bit at this match -- the first two times I entered I had to drop out at the very last minute because of work emergencies. Now, this. <sigh> Buddy I hate this for you. It was good to see you again though.
  18. Lawman, I enjoyed shooting with you though I didn't figure out who you were until shooting stage 6 today. I was the crazy revo shooter Tony. I had a great time even with my insane crash on stage 2. That I am sure cost me the area 6 championship. As for the slider I got all 4 hits even with a revo. I didn't have my best match but I had some personal victories.
  19. Working tomorrow, shooting Saturday morning and Sunday morning. Might get a little wet Saturday but thats happened before.
  20. Mike, Just in case this is something you are still thinking about if you are just going to shoot acp you could use the same moon clips. It would be easy to do just face .045 off of the face of the cylinder and go. You wouldn't have to do anything else. The trick to use a Redhawk would bo to get a good trigger.
  21. Nemo top shelf thats for sure.

    Ruger GP100

Did Ruger ever make a 9mm GP100? The easiest way to have a 9mm GP100 would have it rechambered. Pinnacle does it and TK customs sells moon clips.
  23. If you are just going to shoot 45 acp and never shoot 45 colt yes it can be cut to take regular 625 moon clips. Hell you decide to do it I will do the work for you. All that will be needed is slap it in a lathe and face it off and the ejector. I am almost positive I will have access to one next weekend, I will look at it and make sure.
  24. Where can these Black magik kits be bought?
