  1. Too bad you can't get the whole gun here. Might get the over priced STI/SVI guns back in line.
  2. I checked my G35 with a 10 lb. recoil spring. No deflection that I can measure. I also use a reduced power striker spring.
  3. Clay, I have never understood the need for the thick material on the bottom lug. A stock Glock barrel will return to the same vertical position everytime. I checked several of my Glocks with a dial indicator. All I worry about is the lateral movement.
  4. It is pretty easy to make your own box. I just used four 2" sq. pieces of lumber and glued them together. I was not worried about the height, just the perimeter. Neither of my Kimbers, with adjustable rears, will fit into the box with the extended pads. The rear sights are adjusted about as low as you can go. I had to trim about 1/16" off the bottom front of the pad.
  5. They had a "Sandbagger" award handed out at the Mississippi Match last year. Everyone voted by ballot as to the person they thought was the biggest sandbagger at the match. Tell you what I hate to see is someone who makes Master in ESP, but shoots as a SS or Expert in SSP with the same gun. I know guys that have made Master in SSP and never shot that class again. I agree the winner of a class should move up. Only downside is one of the revolver class where you have 1 or 2 shooters. I like the 5 shooter rule. You are probably right, Bill will never go to a classifier system like IPSC uses.
  6. I would not be hard to come up with 20-30 Classifer stages that could be used. One per match would go a long way toward eliminating sandbaggers. I guess I don't see that much sandbagging in IPSC. Most guys I shoot with want to move up. I see more of it in IDPA.
  7. Mark, I must have missed something. I did not see anything in my post about power factor, Bill Wilson or GM/IPSC. Guess I need to read it again. What makes you think I want IDPA to be like IPSC? About the only thing I really don't care for is the IDPA Classification system. Seems like you said there was only one "real" IDPA match in Atlanta. Hmmmmm does that mean that the SR match is not an IDPA match? Sounds to me like an IPSC match in IDPA clothing. I will give Bill a call Monday. He will straighten out that Capel guy.
  8. Mark, what gripes? I stated that I liked matches with a high round count. Is that what you consider a gripe? I did not knock Claude's match. Does it bother you that I prefer one match style over another? Do you not like the fact that the South River match is growing under Capel's leadership? Instead of supporting his match you seem to knock it. You should be glad that someone stepped up to the plate to run the match rather than being critical of it. No one is holding a gun to your head to make you shoot it. If you prefer Claude's match style over Capel's then that is your choice, but don't be critical of it just because you don't like his style. There is enough IPSC vs IDPA crap still going on. You don't need to be trying to cause a rift in IDPA over match style. Not sure if you are coming, but you probably won't like the Alabama match. There are 11 stages with 178 rounds required. Lots of movers too. I hope you do come. I miss seeing some of the Atlanta guys. How is Mike doing? Joe
  9. The front cut is legal. As far as the daylight rule, seems like it refers to daylight in the belt tunnel. What you are seeing is not in the tunnel. I really like the Ready Tactical holsters. I have been using one for several months now. They are right on the edge of legal.
  10. Most of the pesky rules can be overcome with a proper "tip" to the SO before shooting. As far as matches go I have mixed emotions. There are the IDPA "purists" that put on low round count matches that are perhaps more slanted toward the intent of IDPA. Then there are those that view IDPA as just a shooting game. Their matches usually have a high round count. Given a choice I will always choose the high round count. Most shooters I hang with like to shoot. I have never heard any shooter say "Boy did that match suck. I had to shoot too many rounds". I like movers and swingers. They are much more realistic than stationary targets. I don't think in the real world the BG will just stand there and let you shoot him. I wish I could come up with some props that moved, ducked and dodged. The MD at South River must be doing something right as the match participation seems to be growing every month. Shooters are our customers. If they don't like your match setup or round count they won't come. We should never confuse IDPA with training. It is just a shooting game. If you want training seek out a professional.
  11. Blackhawk sent me one six months a go to try. It is a pretty decent holster. You do need to cut away some of the holster flap. Gosh, does that make me a "factory shooter"? If so they need to find a better one.
  12. I guess I have never had a recoil issue with a 13# spring in my G35. When I shoot Production or IDPA I drop down to a 10# spring.

    Diy Grip Reductions

I like the SP grip reduction. I shot one of his G21s for about a month before Scott bought it. He does good work.
  14. Any of you Georgia guys going to shoot the Alabama match?
  15. I guess we have always felt people come to shoot and have fun with their friends. I have never heard anyone say "That match sucked, too many rounds".
  16. Steel City Sports Shooting Association will once again host the Alabama IDPA State Championship Match. Match date is April 8th. Details can be found on the IDPA website. Bring at least 200 rounds.

    G21 Trigger Bar

I looked at the three G21 trigger bars I have. They all are 4256, not a -1. Two had the long tab, one had a short tab. There was .035" difference in the bars. Interesting thing is the short tab bar is in my G21 with a reduced power striker spring and stock striker. I am yet to have a misfire after several thousand rounds. I have been using CCI primers.
  18. Would the Caspian not be more costly than the OEM slide? Would the Caspian slide be allowed in Production or IDPA?
  19. Cy, we have been down this road before. Remember the STI. You will be back with your Glock soon.

    9mm G35 Questions

Rubber, I think it my be one of those "email" rules. I too much prefer a .40 over a 9mm. I use my 9mm conversion barrel for cheap practice. I have a 9mm load that duplicates the feel of my .40 load.

    Glock Ruining Brass?

I purchased one of the EGW dies a few weeks ago. I would have 4-6 rounds per hundred that would not pass a case gauge. Running them through a Lee FCD did not help. The EGW die cured the problem, but left the loaded round with an hour glass shape. I bought a regular Lee .40 die. The hour glass shape went away. I have loaded about 1,000 rounds with the standard Lee die. None have failed the case gauge. I am not sure the undersized die is really needed.
  23. Are they going to offer a 5" model?

    9mm G35 Questions

The G35 with a 9mm barrel is not legal for any IDPA class. My Federal has been flawless. I have not changed anything except the mag.
  25. Gary, went by a bone doc friend of mine today. Got the shot in the tendon. Time will tell.
